~*~*~*~* Q O T D ~*~*~*~*

Original post by GiannisWifey

Hi ladies!

Through this whole crazy wedding process, have you and FH gotten closer? Fight more often? What is the one thing you learned about yourself through this planning process??

FH and I have actually gotten a lot closer, which I thought would have been opposite. I saw my friends fighting ALL the time with the fiances (now husbands) but we have actually learned that we have to work together and anything can be done. When he sees a vendor is unresponsive or I am too nervous to ask about something, he takes it into his own hands and deals with it, so he doesn't have to deal with me instead!!

I have learned that I don't have as much patience as I thought I did!!!!! I am TRYING to learn to not stress too much over vendors, colors, etc.....everything will come together and there is no need to give myself a heartattack before the big day! Can't wait until we can look back at this planning process and smile and laugh when it is all over!

Good Question!

At first, FH and I were fighting A LOT! I think it may have been somewhat my fault though. I don't handle stress well and he's not always the most understanding when it comes to my moods.

Lately, we've been doing really well though! I think we found our happy medium when it comes to planning (I hope!).
Originally, he wanted to come with me to check out BM dresses because I don't have the greatest taste (says him, the guy who wears linen capris... they're gross, don't argue with me! Are we in a Greek island?? or Italy??). Anyway, I chose a couple of styles that I'd like to check out and he seems happy with them, so maybe he won't have to come after all.

We fought a little at first about the guest list; his mom wanted to invite WAYYYYY too many people and I felt like he was giving in to her and not sticking to what we said we wanted - a smaller wedding. In the end we talked it over and worked it out. He's been realllllly helpful and understanding about everything. He's been my support through it all!

Nothing has really changed that much except that through all the planning and meeting with vendors together, I just see how he would do anything with me and for me. I always knew that he would do anything for me, but if he can go to 12 different RH's in 2 weeks and 5 different photogs and not utter a complaint and actually has input and doesn't just say 'yes, whatever you want', it really shows me that he is really interested in the process and the wedding. We all know our FH's want to marry us and it's just nice to know that he puts time into the planning part as well. Just makes me love him even more if that was possible.

I think we are learning to compromise a lot more. It's a good thing. We have also learned to pick our battles and that is the BEST!!!

FH and I have definitely gotten closer. We are doing everything ourselves and this has made us stronger. But we do argue about the wedding. I guess I learned to meet him half way with the wedding planning

I actually think wedding-planning has been good practice for married life - its about compromise, working together, money management, time management - i feel like doing these things together has made us stronger and closer. Definitely.

FH and I have always been really good at communicating with each other and compromising, but I think wedding planning has brought that out even more. We do argue more though but only because of the stress involved and the whole money situation. And the fact that he thinks everything is corny or unnecessary, but that's because he hasn't been to a wedding in many many years so he doesn't remember what they are like. lol. I think he's just more oblivious than anything... Didn't think we needed to get BP gifts, a cardbox, a cake topper, have BP entrances, etc.

Its all the same - we've been living together for 3 years so its like we're already married. A little spat here or there about financees because they are tight with saving but thats all...

Nothing really has changed. I have actually learned to respect his opinion more about picking wedding stuff....

We have the regular couple fights...we fight because we NEVER see each other (we live together and see each other awake for 5 or 6 hours a week). That gets to me and instead of enjoying the time we have I pick fights because I'm bummed and I miss him
