Do you think that if you'd waited longer to ask ppl to participate in your bridal party that you would have asked different people? More people? Less? Are there people you regret asking/not asking? Have you met NEW ppl since then?

I absolutely believe I would have included different people than my family, had I waited a little longer.

Right now, we already have one extra GM than BM, b/c one of my close guy friends is a GM. So we have 3 girls and 4 guys... but in the past few months my MOH has gotten serious w/her BF, and he really hit it off with FH also. We see them a lot... I *know* that if and when they get married FH will probably be in the BP... so now I feel like we should have him... but then we're SUPER uneven...
I totally get what you mean about the super uneven part. I wouldn't change my bridal party at all...I'm extremely happy with each of the girls and couldn't imagine my BP without them. However, we are having big time drama with the GMs. Originially I had only one more BM than GM but now I have 4 more BM's then GMs or at least I think that is the case (too long to post all about it here). It can be worrisome especially if you like there to be an equal match up. But we just have to keep the faith that it will all work out in the end.
Oh and just an idea..if you don't want to have to many more GM's but feel that this guy might be around for awhile maybe ask him to do a reading? My brother did that with my FH. We got engaged after they already set the BP, but they wanted to include him in a special way.

by the way, FH is having his four closest friends as his best men and I'm only having a MOH. so we are super uneven, and i really don't care at all. I think it's nice to be a little different.
But who will they dance with at the reception!? They're all single (the other GM!)
I don't want my bridal party to dance together, I always hated the obligatory dance asa bridesmaid/MOH with an usher blech

DONT Worry about the uneven thing. FH has 11 gm and theres 9 girls including jr bm...it will be fine, plus it can help. I didnt think about the fact that my dad is walking me down the aisle so who will walk with my mom. SO now we have an extra GM who can do it.

Re: Q of the D (yes, its late in the day!)
I only have a MOH and best man, and honestly, I am sooooo glad we did that. I had wanted to ask a bunch of girls - my best friend, my cousin who's like an older sister, another cousin ... but FH didn't know who we would cut out from his guy friends (we both wanted it equal), and he talked me into only having a MOH and a best man. I read some of the horrors people are going through, and I thank my lucky stars I have the small BP I do.

I def jumped the gun and asked too many people. Since then Ive grown apart from some and closer to others. but at this point its too late. I def know now who truly cares and who doesnt

My side would be the same, but FH kinda regrets asking one of his GM. He was a lot closer with him a year ago and now there is a guy at work that he's gotten a lot closer to and he sometimes wishes he had switched the two. Oh well, what can you do!

Re: Q of the D (yes, its late in the day!)
I had my BP picked out before we were even engaged. I would have loved to ask 4 more of my best girlfriends, but we decided to keep things small (it's just family) and even (FH only has 3 close friends to ask). So I felt that only having 3 BM was fine, easier and it's family, so I'm happy. The only thing is I always dreamed of having my close friends as BM, since I've been a BM for a few of them already! And also, my MOH (sister) is still in school and doesn't have a lot of money and one BM is my 15 year old cousin, who also doesn't have money. Not that it's all about money, but I just feel bad that they can't help out as much as I have for weddings I've been in. It's all up to my mother and thank goodness my aunt offered to help!

Mine would of been the same. I've known 3 members of my bridal party since childhood (one of them since i was 4) and 2 of the others are both FSILs.

Re: Q of the D (yes, its late in the day!)
no.. we were very careful in who we selected, FH and I choose mostly family members and one friend on each side. Our feeling is family is your family for life, friends come and go and to be its too easynow adays to just drop a friend like its not big deal. We wanted to make sure that the people in our BP will be in our lives forever!!!! Also, we only choose 4 people on each side. the more people, the more complicated it gets.
If there is somone who is always causing drama in your life, i cant understand why you wuld ask them to be in your BP. I read so many of these posts where people say that their BP memeber has always been X, y, and z but they asked them to be in their BP and now they regret it -
Another thing, FH and I never expect too much from our BP members. Yes i have asked if they wanted to attend certain things, but never made them feel obligated OR was PO if they couldnt. I try to be a accomodating as far as price goes, because it can be finacially difficult for people. Because of this, we havent had any problems with any of our BP members. Im just happy that the important people in our lives will be ther eon our WD to celebrate with us

I would have kept it the same on my girls side, but wouldnt have bothered asking that BM of mine who never called me back But she's out so screw her.
I would have told FH not to incllude his one friend out of state who STILL hasnt gotten his tux measurements yet

Re: Q of the D (yes, its late in the day!)
I started by asking my sister first, she gave me a whole song and dance about what she wasn't going to do, what she wasn't going to wear, where she wasn't going to go, and everything that is wrong with my wedding ideas, with me and with anything and everything.
I was like okay ... and I told her to hold the thought, because I should have really asked my best friend, because she will be more 'hurt'...
I started to talk to my best friend about it ... she can care less actually ... and is sick of the whole bridesmaid hooplah ...
her lack of enthusiasm made me say 'do I really need bridesmaids?' and in a moment mutual brilliance, we both said 'no!' ... done deal. no bridesmaids.
Now, I'm really thinking I'm a genius, because I have about 8 female first cousins who all want to be my bridesmaids.
