Thanks to ajunebride for choosing me as BOTW, and for the great questions. :)
My first question to you girls would be, did you have any say in what your engagement ring would be, or even picked it out? I know when my FH and I were a yr or so into dating, I started'jokingly' sending him pics of engagement rings I liked lol He didn't go with anything I sent him, and I'm actually glad he didn't, bc I loved knowing he did all this research before spending the week looking for the perfect ring. :)

I looooveee your ring btw! Haha I went with him a few times to look and see what looked good which was actually really good because we learned that what I wanted, was not what I wanted. I have tiny fingers and the big, blingy halo rings looked so silly on me. He ultimately bought the ring without me and went with a cushion cut solitaire and completely surprised me! I'm glad that he picked It!

I didnt tell FH a thing bc I refused to look at rings for fear of 'jinxing it' lol I also thought I had more time before he would pop the question, so he completely caught me off guard! Love my ring and happy that he picked it out himself... for me, it made it more special!

I had always thought I wanted a solitaire, and that's what I told FH. Round solitaire. He picked out and added some design elements on my ring all by himself with a little input from my best friend. What you can't see in pics is that on the side of the ring, like underneath the diamond, are two teeny tiny amethysts, one on each side, which is our daughters birthstone. He said, so it will be perfect to hand down to her someday. He really put a lot of thought into it.
ETA: it's nothing what I thought I wanted but I can't imagine it ever being anything else now.

I showed him 2 very similar rings, and he picked 1 out. Made a good choice. the only difference between the 2 rings was an extra little piece that connected the side stones to the band. He went with the simpler one, because he would!

my ring looks just like yours! I also sent a bunch of random pics of rings I liked, but my FH picked this style all on his own and I love it :)

I had mentioned vaguely about liking a cushion cut. He did all the work. Everything was a complete surprise.

I am sure I have told you before but your ring is gorgeous! The birthstone on the back is very sweet.

I did the same thing sent him several pics of what kinds of rings I liked. He wound up getting me a solitaire which I love and he said he picked it so I could 'get any wedding band I want' lol

FH picked it out on his own! He had it specially designed for me and I get compliments on it all the time :) I didn't even think he was going to propose so soon! He did a good job
FH wanted me to go to the jeweler with him to get ideas. I trusted he would have done fine without me but he wanted to make sure he was spending a lot money on something i was going to love. I showed him 3 rings i loved and then FH worked with the jeweler to combine my favorite aspects of the 3 into one perfect ring. Love my ring so much and I'm so happy FH asked for help but still surprised me with creating the perfect ring for me.

I didn't have any say in it at all except that i wanted it to be a princess cut to match the promise ring he gave me.

FH and I went shopping for rings like 2 weeks before he proposed. He actually went there a few days before we did looking at them himself. The ring he thought would be the best, is the one on my hand today :)

Thank you! And I know what you mean, I have really tiny fingers too. FH bought me a size 6 and it would slide right off…yikes. I opted to put a ring guard rather than resize it bc I didn't want to go without it for 2 wks lol I also thought the ring guard was a good idea for when I get pregnancy fingers. lol

Your ring looks beautiful, and it does! :) I think one little problem I ran into with my ring though, the band is a split shank, so it took me forever to find a wedding band that went along with it. Luckily I found one at cambridge jewelers, so its all good :)

Throughout our relationship we talked about rings only one time. When he asked me what type of rings I liked I googled “Vintage Engagement Rings” and sent him four pictures of some that I liked. When the time came to buy my ring, he went to a jeweler and showed them the pictures. They were able to take an aspect from all four photos and design the perfect ring. It is a princess cut with a halo and diamonds on all three sides of the band. It is perfect :)

I didn't have any say. About 2 years after we started dating (3 years before we got engaged) FH took me to see a Broadway play and we had time to kill before it started so he took me into a jewelry store in the diamond district just to see what I liked. I loved the radiant stone and he knew I loved my mom's ring so he designed me something similar to that but with his own twist. I absolutely love it!
