Morning everyone! I want to thank ladygoodman for picking me for BOTW and hope my questions will be as good as hers were! I was already thinking up of some good questions yesterday!FH and I haven't been together that long, a year and a half to be exact and we're already getting married. We fell in love very quickly, moved in together within three months of being together and just knew that this is what we wanted. People have made comments about it to us saying, things like, 'it's too soon', 'you guys should wait', 'why the rush?', 'you haven't been together long enough'. We've heard it all, so my QUESTION is, have any of you dealt with a similar situation? And, do you think there an appropriate amount of time necessary to be together before deciding to spend the rest of your lives together?

I haven't personally but fhs best friend met this girl last February, moved in with her 2 weeks later, and proposed to her two weeks after that. They are getting married in July and she'll be five months pregnant at that point. When you know you know.

FH and I fell in love very quickly. We just clicked and knew! We moved in with each other after 6 months, which some people consider quick (me beting one of them). My family was ok with it, but my friends were asking if I was moving too quick. Especially b/c a year before I just left a 7 year relationship. In the end all that matters is that your happy - screw what every one else has to say!

We're just the opposite. People were ALWAYS asking when we were going to get engaged. After almost 7 years together he decided he liked it enough to put a ring on it ;) and most of the reactions were people saying FINALLY! Everyone is different. People think the number is so important, but in 7 years together we've built a life. We bought our home and now we're planning our wedding. We're happy and in the end, thats all that matters!

i have not dealt with this situation. FH and I will be together over 6 years when we say I Do. I don't know if there is an 'appropriate' amount of time people need to know if they are meant to be together but I do however think you need a certain amount of time to really learn about someone. You may think you want to marry the person after 3 days but that doesn't mean you should, in my opinion. I think there needs to be a minimum of at least 6 months before a proposal because you need to get through a real fight, get out of the lust stage and feel true love, learn to deal with in laws, etc.

I'm the opposite as well. FH and I have went to middle school together and have been friends since we were 14. This coming July will be our 7 year anniversary and we got engaged 5 1/2 years into our relationship. So we started getting the 'when are you getting engaged' question a lot.I think everyone is different. Me personally, I would like to take a year or so to get to know the person and experience the good, the bad, and the ugly before I make a lifetime commitment.

Re: *QOTD 03/25/2013*
I dealt with the opposite, as FH and I will have been together for 9 years as of this Wednesday and we were together for 8 years when he proposed. It was getting REALLY annoying that people kept asking why we weren't at least engaged yet. A few people even told me, 'When I was your age, I already had kids!' Everybody is different and there's no set timeframe that's 'appropriate' for people to reach certain milestones.

No one has said too fast to me. FH & I started dating August 28, 2010 and we moved in with each other January, 2012 and were engaged in May 26, 2012. I don't think this was fast at all! FH did give me a promise ring 4 months into our relationship because we both KNEW. We would have moved everything up quicker because of how we felt but we decided it was better to wait. When your hearts knows it knows. Time frames are unnecessary. Follow your heart!

People always say it to me, I just ignore it. When you know, you know. I met FH May 2012 and got engaged January 2013. Time frames aren't important, what's important is what your heart tells you.

I have a similar situation fh and i started dating end of 2011 we have know each other for 8 yrs but not well knew of each other, saw each other at parties but we always were dating other people. A halloween party in 2011 changed all that, we were both single ran into a the party and after the first date I just knew this was different. After dating 3 months we were talking about getting married buying a house having kids. We both just knew. Some people have made the comments about that is too soon but when you know you know.

We're the opposite too!! We've been dating for almost 9 years on and off (more on than off!!) and when we moved in together a little over 2 years ago, we got the 'so are you gonna get married yet?' questions over and over. I think it's sort of rude for people to ask these questions or make comments about it. My parents got engaged after 2 months of knowing each other and have been together for almost 33 years, while I know a girl who was with her now ex-husband for over 10 years and after a year of being married he asked for a divorce. I think a marriage will be successful if both the husband and wife are willing to work through the bad times, and regardless of whether you know each other for a day or a decade, it's no one else's business.

Aww Congrats Delgie!!I haven't dealt with that situation, because my FH and I have been together 3 years and we moved in together 5 months after being together. I think you should just follow your heart, and you can't let anybody tarnish this special time in your lives. You're always going to have 'opinions'..good & bad, but all that matters is that you're both happy, and that you both feel the same way!

I had pretty much the exact same situation! Only we've been together for only about a year. I got all the same comments. I believe when you know you know. I dont believe there should be a certain amount of time spent together.

Congrats on being bride of the week.We actually got more of a finally when we got engaged. Everyone always seen it and always wanted us to be together. We only make the 2 year mark next month but the long history of friendship we have is just wow so that's why they all couldn't wait. It's like we had our own little fan club. Lol.
Once we told people the date some people actually said wow a long engagement why so long I actually was surprised and was just thinking to myself money doesn't grow off of trees. If I had the moeny right now or hit Lotto I would get married next weekend.

FH and I moved in together after 6 months (3 of which I was living in Seattle for an internship) and I know my dad wasn't thrilled but everyone who knew us knew it was right. We got engaged in October 2012 after a little over two and a half years of dating and little over two years of living together. No one has said anything about us moving to fast, in fact, most people were like 'what's the hold up?!' lol but honestly when you know you know!

FH and I were only together 14 months prior to our engagement. We were talking about marriage about 8 months in and he bought my ring at 10 months into the relationship. I moved in around 1 year but I had basically been living there since January.Shockingly almost no one has made the comment about 'too soon' but that's because I think FH and I have a very good relationship and the people who matter in our lives understand that.
Even though I knew FH was the man I was going to marry I'm a firm believer of the 'know someone for all four seasons' theory.

Everyone around us knew that we were really meant to be together. No one ever told us it was too soon.I don't think there's an appropriate amount of time if it's true love!!
