QOTD 05/21/09!

SO apparently I'm starting my day early today. FH woke me up when he was gettng ready for work, and I haven't been able to fall back asleep. I have nowhere to be until 1:00PM, so I should totally still be sleeping!

Anyway, maybe this question is a bit of a spinoff of the relgiion, but I think think it's quite different so maybe it's not a spinoff! I don't know lol:

Do you think fate played a role in bringing you & FH together? If not, do you think that you completely brought yourselves together? If fate isn't the driving force, do you think if you wouldn't have found each other, you would've found someone else equally as lovable? What do you think FH thinks?


I'm pretty sure Eric thinks that fate brought us together. I don't believe in magic or luck, and I don't REALLY believe in fate (in the way that it's most defined at least...)

I think that everyone has something or someone that they are meant to be with/meant to do. But I think the purpose is self created. If you want to be a great lover, you can achieve that. If you want to be a great writer, you can achieve that.

However, like I said earlier in the week, I am spiritual and I believe in a sort of 'spirital guide' AKA gut feelings. I don't think those just come from nowhere, because everytime I 'follow my gut', very good things happen.

Ex: I went to the University of Scranton for freshmen year of college, and 3 weeks into my sophomore. After that, I just didn't like it. I knew if I left then and there, I wouldn't be able to start up at a new college right away, and that I'd have to wait for Spring Semester. I'm a bit 'Type A' so this was a problem for me! But I listened to my gut, my spirit guide, and did it anyway.

When I left I said, 'One day I'll know why I left.' If I wouldn't have left, I would most likely NOT have met FH, and I ABSOLUTELY would never have gotten to know him as well as I did. So ultimately, in this case- as in all others, I believe that people make their own decisions, but that we all have this spiritual connection- call it spiritual guide, guaradian angel, the little psychic in all of us, gut feelings- that helps us make decisions. But we are free, at any time, to ignore these warnings.

I FIRMLY believe that there are some things that you can just know about yourself. And I KNOW Eric is the right person for me, for always & forever- fate or no fate.

Matt and I met 3 times before offically getting together.

The first time was the Summer 2003 at Foggy Goggle. I was 21 and still in college upstate. We never spoke after that night but he always remained on my mind

The second was the following Summer 2004 again same situation only a year older but still in school. Yeah again never spoke, I know your are thinking why did I waste my time....

The third was Summer 2006, yes another bar in the Hampton's only this time I was home FOR GOOD! He called me the morning after we met againnn, and we went on our first date 3 days later.

The Summer 2005 we didn't run into eachother but coincidentally we were both dating other people at the time so there would have been no chance for us again anyway.

So yeah I think fate played a role.

The day he contacted me i was supposed to be in Italy. Things changed a week before i was supposed to leave.

Yes, definitely. FH aond I actually knew each other when we were kids (on the same swimteam at the local YMCA) and our fathers knew each other from that. Although...FH were in different age groups and didnt have the same friends. Fast forward about 12 yrs later. My Dad and I went to the local Japanese retaurant for Happy Hour and sushi on a random Thursday night (we normally went on Wednesdays), and FH's Dad was there and our father's end up talking bc they recognized each other. FH ended up showing up and we caught up a bit on each other's lives. I had a long time BF at the time and FH had wanted to hang out again...but I said I had a BF and didnt. Then about 3 months later, my ex-bf and I hit a huge rought patch and were pretty much breaking up. I went back to the sushi place with my Dad for drinks and sushi on a random Monday night (Dad knew how upset I was) and FH was there again with his Dad. I was kinda depressed about the whole breakup thing with my BF but didnt show it...by hanging out with FH that night - he made me laugh and made me so happy (something that I hadnt been in a long time). Also...FH is a mechanic on the side...I was having some transmission problems with my car at the time, so my Dad asked FH to help me with my car (that night at the sushi place)...so, that gave an excuse for FH and I to talk and hang out that week...and here we are today! We both knew within a week of being together that we would end up together...

Also - FH jokes around with me that I 'blew him off' the first time we re-met three months prior to us getting together...I keep insisting that I had a bf at the time and thats why I didn't! He also said that he knew he would marry me at that time and he says its fate that we met up again right when my ex and I broke up...

I definitely think so. We met through work when we worked in retail back in the day. There were SO many things that could have changed the situation of us meeting. On my end, lots and on his even more. He ended up being transferred to my store and the rest is history.

Definitely. There's been way too many coincidences in our relationship that it had to have been destined by a greater force

I think fate took a definite part in bringing us together. Bill & I first met in the summer of 2002. AOL was responsible for that and us of course. So we hung out for a few weeks then fizzled.

Fast forward 4 yrs later Summer of 2006.... single again sorta.... and Bill needed a date to a wedding. He and his Fiancee just broke up a few months earlier... so I offered to go as a friend.

Lo and behold... the feeling that we were gonna be more than just friends hit us like lightning. 6 months later we moved in together in NJ. 1 yr and half after that, we got engaged. In 323 days we'll be married if that isn't fate .... I don't know what is.

I more believe in what happens is meant to happen and that what brings to this point in time and place.
me and FH met online, and I think for him its definitely fate. he picked these very specific things he were looking for in a girl (hair color, education, eye color, height etc etc ) and he got 3 matches, one of which was ME! he met with all 3 (ye how romantic....) and I was the last one, and he says that the moment he saw me it was love at 1st sight and he knew he gonna spend the rest of his life with me
also, and I've told this story before, 2 weeks into our relationship I broke up with him very late night, the moment I said those words a mouse showed - and I am terrified of mice and FH 'saved' me from it and I knew he was the one for me.

Another thing, I went to a spiritual guide 3 months into our relationship unrelated to FH (she's very good even when u dont believe in stuff like that) and she told me that we were meant to be, that we're perfect for each other and that in 2009 we are going to get engaged. she also said that we for years circled around each other but never met until it was right, which is kinda true

Not sure if it is fate, per se, but I do believe we were meant to be together and that he's the 'one' for me - we're just a perfect fit.

We met in the fall of 2001, where we both started our first post-undergraduate job as a paralegal. I had no intention of being a paralegal, with my psych and philosophy degree, but the job market was awful because of 9/11 - except in real estate. FH had just dropped out of law school (after like a week) and he took the job bc he wanted to make sure he really wanted to follow that career path.

We didn't speak to each other for the first 7 months we worked together. I thought he was obnoxious, he thought I was a b*tch. In reality, we were both quiet. We were also both dating other people. In the spring of 2002, I had broken up with my college bf, and he was on the outs with his gf. We both wound up going to a work happy hour, and hit it off immediately. Things quickly escalated, and 7 years later... well, here we are.
And I'm still at the same law firm, only now as a litigation attorney. He's a police officer. And we couldn't be happier!!!!

Without a doubt! I always said that things happen for a reason.

I met FH at his brother's band's show one night (I knew someone else in the band). I was having the worst day that say - I was bummed about work and actually another guy that I was talking to at the time lol The last thing I wanted to do was go out but my best friend convinced me to go and have some drinks because it'll make me feel better. Long story short, a mutual friend introduced us and the rest is history!

FH and I completely believe it was fate. I originally met him when I was 8th grade. I played for his sister's basketball team and he was the assistant coach. I had an embarassing crush on him. I never told him and didn't see him after the season ended.

After that year, I had to start considering high schools. I was torn between a full scholarship that I got from Bishop Ford, and Kingsborough HS. I, eventually, decided on Kingsborough.

As it turned out, FH also went to Kingsborough AND since I had advanced classes as a freshmen, I got to be in some 10th grade classes. Wouldn't you know it that I ended up in his English class!

I didn't recognize him for the first week or two. He had lost 60lbs and looked so different! One day, the teacher called out the attendance, and as he said 'HERE' I realized who it was! My crush from over a year ago! We started talking, eventually started dating, and the rest was history.

But truly what are the odds?

I absolutely think fate brought us together!!!

When I started talking to Mike I DID NOT (like really did not) want a boyfriend or any kind of serious relationship. I was happy just casually dating, and I had all these plans of all these things I was going to do...and no man was going to get in my way

I was just looking on the online dating sites for casual dates and got bored so I just started browsing and not paying attention to where people lived...and I saw Mike's profile and something inside me COMPELLED me email him to tell him I thought he was really cute (which...is...SO unlike me to be quite THAT forward). He emailed me back saying he felt the same way about me and we exchanged IM names...

...and he is seriously perfect for me!!! There's no way we ever would have met if it weren't for the internet and on top of THAT I almost definitely wouldn't have gone for him since he has a kid AND lives in Ohio but none of that mattered because he is THE ONE...God made him for me and me for him and I can't believe I'm lucky enough to have him!!!!!!
