In your years of dating and being with FH has anything really scary or terrifying happened to either you or you and FH together? How did FH react? Did it help the experience or just scare you some more?
This morning I just thought of a near death experience that FH and I had earlier this year so that is what spurred the question along and this is the freshest example in my memory. Earlier this year, in February, we were traveling on a day where there were deadly (literally) winds. People had died earlier in the morning at a construction site from the wind and it was REALLY REALLY bad. Well, we're driving on our merry way and we get onto the Throgs Neck Bridge and suddenly hit a total and complete standstill in traffic. We have no idea what happened, nothing is being said on the radio, and all the digital signs on the parkways leading up to the bridge said that Throgs Neck Bridge is best route to take. To make a long story short, like 2 minutes before we got on the bridge, the winds were so bad that they KNOCKED OVER a tractor trailor that was driving over the bridge so he was blocking all lanes. We were STUCK! OMG I thought I was going to die. I am TERRIFIED of bridges to begin with... we were stuck on this bridge for 2 hours. And we weren't just stuck on this bridge with no idea how much longer it would be and with no information whatsoever on what had happened... our car was shaking violently and moving around so bad from the wind. It was HORRIBLE... it was like a roller coaster gone wrong. All we could do was sit in the car and get rocked and shaken. It never stopped for one second during the 2 hours we were up there. I literally thought I was going to die. I have never been so scared in my entire life. FH's reaction was amazing. He was terrified to no end, I think he was more scared than I was. He was also really sick from all the motion. He was probably on the verge of peeing his pants haha, but he spent the entire time calming me down and comforting me. It really meant so much because he was shaking and pale as a ghost but he spent the entire time helping me.
OK sorry I tell long winded stories... and sorry if this is corny.

OMG!! Three years ago when there was the REALLY bad flooding up in Oneonta, we had to go up there a few days after the flooding stopped for a soccer class Shawn was taking...Well on the way up there the GPS sent us on a residential road about 2 miles from the hotel, little did we know the road was closed bc of damage and we went on it anyway not realizing...At first it was fine, there was nothing wrong with the road, then we start to notice the side of the road starts disappearing and the road is getting narrower...Then suddenly the road dropped to half the size it normally is and then were 5 foot ditches on each side of the road where it used to be...The car barely fit on the road, the tires were half off the ground...I was sh!tting myself and he was trying to stay calm but you could see the cold sweat breaking out on his forehead!!
We laughed about it after the fact, but we both thought we were going to die on that road...

OMG I am shaking just thinking about that - you guys must have been absolutely terrified. That is so scary. I can't think of anything to share though... thankfully.

This was February 12th!!! That day FH and I were going upstate and went over the Throgs Neck too, we must have just missed it b/c everyone was calling us to see if we were ok. FH was sh!tt!ng himself on the bridge and I was the one who had to calm HIM down! Coincidentally this is the day I got engaged! He was taking me upstate and he surprised me when we got into the hotel room <3, but yea, totally scary!! The whole 2 hour ride up was scary!
I don't think anything else truly traumatic happened to us... FH got appendicitis in our early years, and that scared the crap out of me. He was complaining for like 2 days that his stomach was hurting, it could have burst, but luckily didn't! They got it out in time!

About 3 years ago....three days before Christmas.
We were driving to the mall to do some last minute Christmas shopping. Let's just say it was late, dark, and really rainy and we got into a HUGE car accident. Like someone died at the scene huge. I don't want to go into much detail, but we were both petrified. Neither one of us knew what to do, but luckily there were plenty of other people around to help us out.
We ended up going to counseling for it, individually and together. And while FH tells me to this day he wishes I weren't there for it, I can only say I'm glad he wasn't alone and that I was with him.

Last year I almost lost FH.
Loooonnnggg story short, he developed pneumonia. I found him barely conscious, we rushed him to the hospital. He went right into ICU. The DRs didn't know if he'd even make it--he couldn't breathe on his own and was unconscious. I had to make the call to his mother in Florida that they didn't think he was gonna live and she needed to fly home, which she did. The DRs basically said his oxygen was too low to sustain brain function and had I not found him when I did, he'd have died. Even when he was there it was touch and go. I remember so clearly the DRs telling me this in the hallway outside his room and I was all alone. The words 'he most likely will not live if he can't breathe on his own' will never leave me. He spent over 2 weeks in ICU before he was stable enough to go home...I never left his side once, they even brought in a cot for me to sleep on.
That is worst thing to go throuigh and I hope no one EVER has to make a phone call like that. I remember it so vividly, like it was yesterday.

I'm happy to say nothing extremelly horrible has ever happend. The only thing that we have gone through that was sad was his uncle passing away recently. I felt so bad b/c he didn't want to cry infront of me (FH NEVER cries). I saw him crying from a distance and I just wanted to hold him.

In February when I found out I had a malignant spinal tumor and had to get immediate surgery. I spent a week in the hospital and FH was there by my side every day. This nightmare is still not fully over but he has been great through it all

We've only been together for a little over a year, and everything's been really okay for the most part (knock on wood)...I get nervous every time one of us gets on a plane to go see each other or go home...but nothing life threatening has happened. Lets hope it stays that way :)

Nothing life threatening has happened ::knock on wood::, and I hope and pray that it stays this way.
I'm sorry that you all had to go through these tumutuous events. We didn't have anything too life threatening.
1. the week we started dating my friend's dog mauled my ear right in half I had to get 22 stitches. I called him but I told him not to come to the hospital cause my friend was with me
2. I had an appendectomy about 2 years back - on our ANNIVERSARY! - with this he was very good - he stayed at the hospital pretty much the whole time brought me flowers and cared for me and loved me when he brought me home...
