Hope everyone had a great 4th of July! My question for today is:
What lifestyle changes have you made in order to save for the wedding?
I think our biggest source of expense before getting engaged was going out to eat. We have cut down on eating out a lot, and only go to restaurants if we have groupons or coupons lol. I have also stopped having lunch at the cafeteria with my colleagues at work. I try to pack my own lunch to work, but I'm so forgetful and lazy that I often end up skipping lunch altogether. We are also not able to do things with our friends as much as we used to since that gets expensive. Luckily our friends our very understanding and we often just end up hanging out at each others places rather than going out and spending money.

We've also cut back on going out to eat--which has helped us save money and has also helped me stick with my diet. I love hosting dinner parties, wine & cheese nights, and BBQ's, but we've scaled them way back this year. Our friends understand because most of them are married so they know what it's like. We also took our vacation in VA this year (staying with friends and camping) instead of going to Puerto Rico like we have done the past few years and have skipped our annual trip out east for wine tasting. My mom is helping us pay for the bulk of the wedding, but we are saving up for a partial dormer and second bathroom for our house which will cost more than double the wedding. It never ends lol.

The biggest lifestyle change was moving in together, it coincided with our Engagement, although I didn't know this at the time. lol I really can't imagine how we would have been able so save as much as we had while paying rent on two place, so I'm glad we moved in together when we did. Another lifestyle change (and also for the better) is FH asked me to stop smoking when we got engaged (for my health) but it also has helped me save money too! We're homebodies anyway, and being that we are dieting too, we don't spend money on junk food and take out as much as we used too, so that helps lol

It's hard to save for the wedding since we are in the processing of buying a house but we're trying the best we can. We limit ourselves with going out to dinner and haven't planned any trips until our honeymoon. We're still working on not spending money soo freely like we used too which is difficult- especially for FH lol

Some of our changes have been mentioned above. We basically stopped eating out, we were eating out at least 2-3 times per month. We both have quit smoking (almost 8 months! woohoo!) Lastly, we have both started our weight loss journeys to look great for our wedding and to be healthy for our future. As of today we've lost a combined total of 36 lbs so far!

As a couple, we really haven't had any lifestyle changes, but for me, I had to cut back on flying home often so can save up for the wedding! We both have been good on saving money for we aren't frivolous spenders and have been good with our money.
We hardly ever go out to eat anymore, whereas we used to do that multiple times a week. Now we go out about once a month or if it's more often than that, we'll get pizza or something super cheap. Also, the only shopping I ever do now is food shopping.

we've definitely cut back on going out to eat. we are huge foodies and we love to review different places but that has been a big change. I also was a server for 5 years so I like to be served myself :) we also haven't engaged in our typical summer fun because let's be honest, drinks are so expensive! lol but we are making due with the changes and just hoping we can get ahead of the game.

We really haven't had to make many lifestyle changes to save for the wedding. We actually just decided to have a very inexpensive wedding so that we wouldn't have to save up for it. I think because we have been together so long, I didn't want to go too crazy with the wedding stuff. We won't have a really fancy wedding, but I'm pretty low-key so I'm happy our wedding fits my understated style.

The biggest thing FH & I have cut out is eating out. We were eating out all the time but since we started our diet/lifestyle change we haven't and thankfully the cravings to eat out has subsided as well. We have a budget and we stick to it which still allows us to go to the movies, which is our favorite past time.

Definitely going out to eat! We used to love exploring new restaurants every weekend but it really turns into a big expense after a while. We have been pretty decent at cutting back but it's so tough! haha

Extreme austerity... no more buying coffee, limiting groceries to $100/wk (4 kids to feed as well - between his first marriage and mine), no eating out unless it's an insane Groupon deal, borrowing movies from the library, you name it.
This is only until December at the latest. After that, a CD FH has matures, and that will cover the rest of the wedding expenses. I just have to worry about 2 Metropolitan deposits between now and then. And we can do it!

We don't go out to eat as much and I'm doing a lot more cooking. And when I cook I make enough for two nights so we can spread out our food longer. Good for our wallets and for our diets! We aren't going to as many concerts or shows either which is a total bummer - I miss broadway!

We are fortunate enough to not be paying for our wedding but when we moved into our home our lifestyle changed. I think now that we have our own place we stay in alot more and I cook every night unless for some odd reason we get takeout or have to go somewhere. I do need to get better at grocery shopping though because I never leave spending under $100.

Food shopping is the only shopping I do now as well! Takes a lot of will power to stay away from all those sales at the department stores..

Yep, same! Though it's gotten a lot easier. Every now and then, though, I genuinely need to buy something for the wardrobe and then I spend like 2 hours at the mall hahaha

Another foodie over here! And like most of you all mentioned that's what FH and I really cut back on to save. I try and cut everywhere I can so that includes making coffee at home and packing lunch instead of buying those also. I try and stay away from shopping but that one is tougher for me! I've gotten a lot better though. I only really but clothes when I need it and I refuse to pay retail!
