I almost forgot to post this! We're crazy busy seeing venues this weekend and I actually think my mom is more excited than me! Which leads to todays QOTDDoes anyone in your family or friends think this is their wedding?
Like giving just a little too much advise?
My mom is VERY opinionated which is fine, but she is over the top when it comes to wedding stuff. The other night I caught her watching Say Yes to the Dress! I was like, 'Mom, you think this is your wedding.' It's more funny than aggrevating. What about you guys?

yeahhh... I have a friend of the family is a little way too over opinionated about certain things. I know its coming from a good place because she's been in my life since I was about 10 and she's just really excited for me.But I'm really calm about things so she just needs to tone it down a bit.
Shockingly... my mother isn't as bad as I thought. However.. we still have 700 days sooooooo that can change!!

Everybody has been really good so far about giving advice without trying to tell me that their way is THE way to do things. I actually look to FMIL a lot for advice about certain things because she's got an eye for what would look good and what wouldn't.My mom and I have butted heads a few times, but in the end, she realizes that this is my day and she's been overall very supportive of all my decisions so far.

my mom, she is the definition of over the top. In her mind this is her wedding and I'm the guest bride. I call her mommyzilla!!! She has been awesome though and has been gladly paying for stuff left and right and letting me have what i want!!!And then my parents were listening to the band i want, and as my dad was walking away he said that his wedding was going to be awesome!! i was like uhh hello? so my parents are so overly excited and have been splurging left and right they just want us to have everything and then some!!!!!
as much as i tease them about this being their wedding, they are so supportive and excited - which is wonderful because i'll be lucky if FH's parents show up. :)

FMIL! I love her to death and we get along famously but it seems like as soon as we got engaged she now has no problem completely voicing her opionion even if I don't want to hear it lol. I wouldn't say she gives too much advice but one day she'll say 'this is your wedding, do what you want and not what other people tell you' than the next day she'll say 'well, there are just some things you need to do at your wedding', ugh! lol But I really do love her and this is a MINOR problem

I really don't have anyone that is overly opinionated. Luckily, I'm pretty easy going so if anyone does give input I usually do take it into consideration. FSIL has made a few comments here and there about prices we're paying for certain things being too much, and that has annoyed me, but I know she's just trying help us save money. They only thing that has really bothered me so far is a comment she made about us registering for fine china and how she doesn't understand where we're going to put it and we're ridiculous for wanting it. I just don't see why it should matter to anyone else what we register for!?
I just have to laugh it off though, we do have a great relationship and are very close friends. I know she doesn't mean anything by it, so I don't take anything she says personally.

Oh god, my mom is definitely the one. She constantly tries to tell us to do things differently to cut costs. We booked our venue on a Saturday night, once we left she gave me a whole talk about how I should have done a Friday and literally did a financial break down about how much we would save. She isn't cheap, just feels we could put wedding money toward a house. The other day she was telling me how she thinks my fiance and I are making some bad decisions with the wedding and is rarely happy when I tell her about things. She was so excited when we got engaged, but sometimes I don't even want to tell her things just so I don't have to hear how she would have done it. It's miserable actually.

My mom isn't into 'planning' at all...which is why we hired a wedding planner. FMIL is piggy backing on some things.....but I'm more worried about my extended family! I'm the first to get married in my family so my aunts and cousins are getting very opinionated!!

Everyone was VERY opinionated at first but now everyone has sort of mellowed out. It's nice not hearing 5729432 different opinions!

Not at all! Actually, I kind of hope my mother would be more involved. It was like pulling teeth for her to even come to find my dress..She's in love with my FH and couldn't be more excited for the wedding she just hates the planning part.

Its a little bit of everyone lol. I am trying to see it as a sign that they all feel comfortable enough with me to voice their opinions, but sometimes I want to remind them that SUPPORT should be their first priority. Like my FFIL had an obsession with the fact that we chose to have an open bar because he thinks we are wasting money- first of all, it was part of the package with my venue and second of all, my parents are paying for it! It can really get under my skin but I am just trying to keep things in perspective.

At first, my mom was super involved... and it was kind of smothering me. We had a conversation and and I told her that anything she is paying for (the venue & dress) she has a large say in but if I'm paying for it (everything else! lol) then I have the last say... I told her I would always listen to her opinion but in the end, if I'm paying for it, I will get what I want. After this conversation, things got a lot better... my mom has really been a huge help in decision making but doesn't cross lines anymore!

I haven't encountered that yet, but I wouldn't be surprised as we get further along that there may be one or two that might have a little too much to say. But I really hope not. Our entire family seems really happy for us & supportive.Welcome New Vendors
