~* QOTD 1/4/14 *~

Happy Saturday girls! So, I was catching up with one of my single girlfriends last night and she was telling me about a terrible date she had a week or so ago. It made me so thankful I'm not single anymore because I started remembering all the baadddd dates I'd been on before I met FH.

So, let's hear it. What's the worst date you've ever been on?

I met a guy at the crazy donkey one night (that really should have been my first clue, lol). We both had a lot to drink and *might* have made out for a bit. We exchanged numbers at the end of the night and I was surprised when he actually called me the next day. We went out the next night to Dave and busters. Omg how different things were when there was no alcohol involved. He didn't look anything like I remember and the conversation was just forced and awkward. I couldn't wait to get out of there. When he tried to make out again at the end of the night I was like, omg no. Needless to say, we never went out again!

great question!

In my senior year of college I met this guy through my employer and after a few weeks of flirting he asked me out to dinner. He seemed like a nice guy so I agreed to go. He picked me up and took me to H2O in Smithtown, I'm thinking this is really nice place but it turned out his cousin was our waitress and gave us most of our food for free (I'm thinking he must have planned this) which is a little weird for a first date.

So throughout dinner we're obviously talking and I mentioned that after graduating I'm looking into going for my MSW and continuing my education. He sort of makes a face and says 'That's really nice and all, but I'm not looking for a girl who wants to keep going to school. I'm really just looking for someone who I can spoil and will be available more, but it's great that you want to do that and all.'

Yeahhhhh that was our first and last date

I went on a date with this guy the summer before junior year of high school who was part of my group of friends.. we went to dinner, walked to the ice cream place by his house, and then watched a movie at his place.. then he and I starting making out and it was TERRIBLE he was like sucking my face off and it was sooooo awkward.... I ending up bailing on alot of plans with that group if I knew he was going because it was too awkward to hangout with him again after that haha

I was living in the city and had my first blind date with this guy. We had been speaking to on the phone for like 2 weeks before our schedules allowed us to meet up. He sounded sweet and we always had a lot to talk about. This was 10 years ago before facebook and iPhones, he tried to email me a picture of himself but it was all blurry and I couldn't really tell what he looked like. He was going to be in the city on New Year's Day and begged me to meet up with him, I was hesitating because I knew I'd be hung over but I did finally agree. I told him I'd meet him on 2nd ave and 40th street. As I'm walking towards where to meet him all I see if this really really tall older man and I'm like no way this can't be him and yes sure enough it was. Not to sound shallow but he was so not good looking and way older than I expected him to be and I felt so uncomfortable I didn't know what yo do. We walked for a few blocks and finally I said look im sorry but I really don't feel well I was out really late last night and I have to go home and basically I ran away...lol never again did I go on a blind date.

LOL! Beer goggle stories are the best.

My worst date had to have been when my friend set me up with a guy she knew. He was a bartender at a strip club. That should have been a warning sign. I was only 19 or 20 then I'm pretty sure. He was almost 30. The whole date he kept talking about how important sex was to him. Needless to say there was no second date!

A few months before I met FH and during a messy breakup with the guy I dated before him, my aunt and uncle called me one night from a restaurant begging me to come and meet this guy. My uncle had somehow made friends with him during dinner and thought we'd hit it off, and against my better judgment, I went to meet him. The initial meeting went fine--he was cute (a model actually haha) and really nice so I figured what the hell! We scheduled a movie date for the next week.

So date night arrives and he's running late because of work, which is a little annoying, but still fine. He picks me up and then proceeds to accidentally drive on the wrong side of Nassau Blvd (where there's a divider, mind you). Then, we're watching the movie, which I believe was Last House on the Left, and he's acting more scared than I am...like looking away and hiding his face behind me...and I'm hardly a brave soul myself. Then he decides he's hungry, even though I'm not, so I sit at a diner and watch him eat while he talks about his ex and how much he misses her dog, which he'd become really close with. He also keeps asking me about my ex, which I clearly do not want to talk about.

Needless to say, when he dropped me off at my house I gave him the quickest kiss on the cheek ever and jumped out of the car to avoid him trying to kiss me good night, since he clearly thought the date went well. I made up excuses not to schedule a second date until he gave up (which I know isn't super nice, but I was like 21 and stupid). I actually saw him recently while Christmas shopping...not in person, but modeling some clothes on the Macy's website LOL.

Edited because I pressed submit too soon!

I met FH when we were 18 so my stories are limited, but I would have to say my worst date was the summer when I was 16. I had known this guy through my sisters friend and he seemed like a quiet, nerdy type and I had only ever seen myself with a guy like this. He had just graduated high school, so I was excited about seeing an older guy. We started to IM, because obviously that was the best way to get to know someone back then. I should have taken it as a warning that he said he met his best friend (who lived in Texas) through World of Warcraft. So we agreed to go on a double date with mutual friends. We walked around so awkward, and he kept saying sarcastic not so nice things because he felt awkward. I kept talking about the guy I really had feelings for. We never even held hands and before you knew it, it was the end of the night. He was a nice kid, but we were both a bit too timid to take it past the IM stage lol. I wish him all the best!

Worst date was probably five years ago I was set up on a date. He picked me up the took me to borders, before we went in did a cheesey magic trick with a magic wand and a plastic pot( totally a kids magic trick set). Showed me a book on iceland and told me a random fact. Already at this point I was like omg how to I get out of this. It didn't end there. When we got back in the car he did another cheesy magic trick. I tried hinting it was getting late and I had work the next day. He took that as take me to Starbucks and buy me coffee. Then drove and parked by the water n tried mauling me. That's when I got bitchy insisted he take me home. He proceeded to call for months and I ignored every call. Worst date ever! Whenever I go our to certain places like packed bars/clubs ( meat market kind of places) I thank god I have my fh and don't have to go through dating scene again.

My worst date ever was ages and ages ago. He took me out to an awesome dinner at Ruth Chris' Steakhouse, no shabby deal. I was impressed and he was very nice. We were having a good time. So, when he asked me to stay out for a drink afterwards I agreed. So we pick a bar downtown and five minutes later he leaves to go to the bathroom. Fast forward 15 minutes and he has not returned. I was getting worried so I asked another guy near the bathroom to go check on him, I was worried he was sick. Turns out he was in the bathroom sniffing cocaine. The guy was a bouncer and promptly kicked him out. Obviously, I called one of my girlfriends and she gave me a ride home. Never talked to him again.

People are crazy.

Re: ~* QOTD 1/4/14 *~

I loved reading all the stories lol omg. anyway I cannot pick just 1 horrible date because there are 3 I cannot decide which is the worst. most of these were from my adventures in online dating at one point lol. right before I got with FH. (who I had known for years & we were just never single at the same time)

1st a guy I met from POF (plentyoffish.com) I asked him to be my NYE date in 2009-10. anyway he met me at my girl's party and 5 minutes later when I went in the bathroom he left. just like LEFT! when I texted him going wth? he was like I didn't like they kept offering me drinks and insisting I have a drink. it was NYE! he also had offered to give me a ride home & I was stuck in Wantagh. I got him to come back at 2 am by promising him a 3rd date the next day. I never spoke to him or saw him ever again lol. I ignored his calls, texts, fb messages, etc. he just gave off a creepy vibe I can't even explain.

2nd another guy I met from POF came to get me in Mineola from Brooklyn and took me into the city. we went to Naples 45 and I was pretty impressed. plus we went thru grand central & it was my first time being in there. it was just a boring date since we had nothing in common. then he made comments how dinner was so expensive because I had to have wine with dinner. um excuse me? he insisted we go somewhere after that so I took him to 230 fifth and got a $16-$18 martini lol. he complained the whole ride home how I'd probably be so expensive to date. after all that he tried to kiss me and then after that kept asking when we could go on a 2nd date. like wth?

3rd who I actually ended up dating and was the last guy I dated before FH. after meeting him from POF lol, actually after him I was like no more online dating ever again! anyway he told me he wanted to make me a nice dinner and to come over his house. I was like okay though normally I prefer a guy to take me out the first few dates. it sounded romantic and when I showed up he had really nice wine and it seemed to be going great. then 40 minutes later his parents came home (yeah that wasn't his house alone) and they had dinner with us!!! it was so awkward. it was our first real official date after meeting and I wasn't expecting to meet his parents and actually be having dinner with them lol. I remember texting my friends like omg get me out of here.

anyway I gave him a 2nd chance and we ended up dating for 8 months. he was a huge mama's boy though and I like to be #1 so yeah..... was never going to happen. he actually became friends with FH while we dated since he was my friend. (fh still teases me about him lol) when we broke up & I soon started dating FH he complained to all my friends that how could FH do that to him. meanwhile um FH was my friend! I had known him for years. he also complained to anyone who would listen how I stole his friends lol. um normally when people break up their friends don't stay your friend... like did he really think my BFF would go hang out with him???? none of my friends wanted anything to do with him lol. he'd send them long fb messages about how sad & lonely he was about me. my friends still talk about his weird relationship with his parents. like he'd have to ask his mom's permission to sleep over my house lol. wth? when FH first slept over here he joked he had to call his mom first I was like omg seriously? he was like nah I'm not your ex I'm a grown man lol.

I tell FH on a weekly basis I am so happy to be getting married lol. one of my BFF was dumped thru a text message on my birthday in Sept. she called me crying. I remember that night telling FH how great it was to be with him and never have to worry about being dumped like that lol. thru a text omg. I felt so bad for her.

I went on a blind date a few years ago and it started off really nice; nice guy, we had a drink, nice conversation...

We then go to a restaurant to have dinner (a sushi restaurant he apparently went to all the time) and he had the chef make us a 'special' plate. Now I am a very daring eater but this plate had a full fish, face and all, oysters and slimy sea urchin. He kept telling me to try the food and basically almost force fed me the oysters. As the dinner went on he kept drinking more and more, and getting drunker and drunker. He was basically signing me up for the next five years of his life inviting me to concerts six months out and saying he couldn't wait for me to meet his nieces (sweet I know, but a little overwhelming on date #1). At the end of what felt like a ten hour date, the waitress comes over and says here's a bottle of sake on the house. I was like omg, I'm very tired, you should take it home with you. And he was like no no, we need to drink it together, and I was like NO I insist, please take it home! I finally convinced him to leave, jumped in a cab and let him down as easily as possible over email lol.

My worst date was when I was away at college. I totally hit it off with one of my roommate's friends. I wasn't looking for anything serious because I was still hung up on my ex, but we talked all the time and really had a great connection. He kept asking if I would come to visit one weekend so I decided I would. My roommate came back with me to her hometown. When we got there he called me and told me to be ready at whatever time it was because he was taking me out to dinner. I said ok but he left out the part that on our FIRST DATE we would be going out WITH HIS PARENTS. It was so incredibly awkward. He was a nice guy but that really freaked me out and we didn't talk much after that weekend haha
