QOTD 10.22.13

Happy Tuesday! Thank you so much to everyone who answered yesterday's question! It really was so interesting to see the different dynamics in everyone's relationships.

FH and I started our relationship as friends and even after we started dating we were long distance for awhile (Westchester to Long Island) during that time we developed some adorable (and arguably sickeningly cute) pet names for one another that were usually sent to each other in good morning texts. Now that we're engaged we still manage to come up with some new ones.

So today's embarassing question is what unique pet names do you and FH have for one another? What's the meaning behind them? And do you guys have any other cutesy affectionate things you do?


FH calls me Zucca, and sometimes Zucca Bambina or little pumpkin. The translation may be a little off but he came up with this and loves it.

I call him monkey, which is short for Ninja Monkey lol. When my sister was moving in to her apartment in Brooklyn he was so helpful in moving (literally packed the elevator up with stuff and squeezed in on top of the stuff) that my sister called him that. I also make up names that mean absolutely nothing but sound silly, mushy, mushpie, mushpot, squishy, boo boo kitten.

We're also big snugglers, always hold hands when we sleep and to remind ourselves of our long distance relationship send each other long and gushy love texts to one another!

we don't have too much in the way of names. Mostly he's is 'babe' or 'hun' and I'm 'sweetie'... occasionally i'll throw in a 'shnookums' or a 'darling dear love of my life' lol

we're disgusting when it comes to the mush factor. we will leave each other post-it notes EVERYWHERE... like I have four on my laptop ... all telling me he loves me in some way lol.

we are SOOOOO snuggly when we sleep. Its to the point where I can't sleep without him in the bed.

we are the mushiest of the mush. like if i really went in to how much of the mush... you ladies would absolutely puke.

SO ridiculous but we call each other Big and Little Spoon - we've been doing it since we started dating and got it from How I Met Your Mother haha other names are the standard ones. He also calls me his little penguin because I'm sickly obsessed with penguins

We always fall asleep holding hands also but I'm not big into snuggling when I'm going to bed. I like my space! So if we do fall asleep that way, we certainly don't wake up that way

We are not really mushy at all. I mean we hold hands and cuddle on the couch but ntohing out of the ordinary. I mean when we go to sleep we cuddle a bit then roll over & go to bed lol. As far as pet names there is nothing more then- babe, baby, love- nothing special. I am not one for cheesy lovey-ness. And thank goodness neither is FH.

We are so not mushy.. LOL. No pet names really besides Ter and Kev.. We do have one rule we must kiss eachother good morning and kiss eachother good night.

We mostly use otter ... we love that video of the otters holding hands while they float. we usually put some sort of qualifier in front of it - ie, if i'm being bratty he'll call me 'mean otter.' haha! FH also calls me panda and i call him koala .... there is also penguin, poodle, puppy ... sigh.

FH calls me Mama Bear and I call him Papa Bear..LOL..We have been doing that since we started dating. I honestly don't remember where the names came from. We also call each other the usual, babe, hun, etc. We are incredibly cuddly and mushy! Everywhere we go we hold hands! We cuddle on the couch and in bed and are constantly next to eachother. I am glad he is a cuddler and so am I :) Love him!

lol I have a true, deep-seeded aversion to all things cheesey. My FH is definitely mushier than me but he keeps it within reason to keep me from retching. We do all the usual, babe, baby, hun, sweetie. Our two most common are probably me calling him handsome and him calling me beautiful. Every time he says it it puts a smile on my face.

We cuddle often but come bed time, I need space. I've had some trouble adjusting to sleeping since I moved to jersey so he's been super understanding and given me room to rest. Our 'cutesy' moments are usually more practical, like i love to rub his back when I come home and he's making dinner. Despite how horrible as this makes us sound as a couple, stuff like taking the garbage out together i think is sweet. I always feel the mushiest with him when we're helping each other or doing something for our home or lives.

Oh dear haha we have a ridiculous nickname for each other. I'm 'monkey' and he's 'tigger'. We don't really have any other embarrassing pet names. You mentioned holding hands while sleeping. On occasion that happens. I don't know how we don't wake up with no circulation in them!

I call FH my poo bear but then sometimes I end up just calling him poo, which sounds so disgusting lol. Other than that its the usual baby, babe, sweets. We are the cutsey couple that some people find annoying but not in an overly PDA way. We are always touching each other somehow.

I have a ton of nicknames for FH. It's usually whatever's on the top of my head. Mostly it's Babe, Guy, or Man, but my favorite is Buddy.

He calls me Ree, and baby.

QOTD 10.22.13 - Long Island Weddings

FH and I were long distance for so long. He moved to DC 2 months after we started dating. After he moved to DC (he was there for 8 years) we spent a lot of time on the phone. Like, fall asleep talking a lot. I used to whine a lot when i missed him and I would say 'But honeyyyyy... (insert complaining about him being far away' and in my sleepiness on the phone over time it turned into 'bu'honey' -- which was a nickname we both called each other for a long time. Since they it has evolved into many other variations. It turned into 'Buh' then 'Bug' then 'Buddy'. He also calls me 'Lady Bug' since I was calling him bug for so long. It turned into a bit of a thing. For our 3 year anniversary he got me a beautiful Tiffany's lady bug necklace. Also based on my mood hes been known to call me 'beast' which is pretty funny. Most of the time I call him babe or buddy.
We do a lot of snuggling - it was always such a reward and luxury to just have time to lay together when he was in NY or I was in DC so our night time routine has always been a pretty mushy one.

We're not super overly mushy but we do use pet names. We both call each other Boobie, I guess it just sorta developed from Babe and Boo. Also I call him Richie which he hates but since I call him that most of the time everyone has picked up on it and now mainly call him Richie too (he prefers Rich) lol whoops. He will call me 'brat' if I'm being cranky or sometimes just in a jokey way. We snuggle for may like 5 min at night but then roll over and sleep butt to butt lol. But we do hold hands alllll the time, walking from the car, in a store, sitting at a table..always holding hands lol I like it, and I think its just enough mush for the both of us.

Haha fh and I have some nicknames. He calls me sweet face and I call him cuddle butt or snuggle face lol. Besides for babe, baby, hun. We are definite mushes we hold hands a lot and we snuggle a lot. When we go to sleep we snuggle so it is definitely hard for us to sleep if one of us is not in the bed.

this is so embarresing.. but I call him booboo and he calls me moomoo.. no idea how it all happend. Our rule is kisses in the morning before work (he leaves before me) and kisses as soon as he gets home from work. We also make time to snuggle every night before we go to bed and we have to sleep butt to butt or else neither one of us can sleep LOL
