So despite the fact that I'm dragging this morning I still will perform my BOTW obligations, otherwise when I return it will be lattteeeeeeee afternoon!
I LOVE HOLIDAYS!!! Particularly for me, Christmas Eve is my favorite! So, that topic is our QOTD:
What holidays do you celebrate? Does FH celebrate? How will your holiday traditions change/stay the same after you are married?
Well, FH and I both are Catholic, so we both celebrate the same hoildays, Easter, Christmas Eve & Christmas, and of course Thanksgiving and non Catholic ones too!
As far as our traditions, we have gotten into a good routine so far the past 3 sets of holidays we've had....Thanksgiving my family eats early at 3, his eats at 5ish, so he stays watches the parade w/me, watches football w/my dad, eats with us, then leaves to go to his sisters....which i go there after we have dessert at my house which gets me there in time for dessert at her house...
Christmas Eve at my house (its a huge thing for my family, not his) Christmas at his house (after i do presents n all with my parents)
soooooo when we're married....basically C.Eve will still be my family and Christmas his, however, I CANNOT WAIT TO HOST HOLIDAYS!!!! soo i dont know what holiday i will get, if i will take over my Mother's Christmas Eve, or if FMIL will be ready to not do Christmas anymore...because Thanksgiving is his sisters thing, I don't think that will change.
But also, I'm really sad about only having 1 more Christmas morning w/my parents, btu im looking forward to my own mornings w/FH in our own place!!

FH is Catholic and I am Greek Orthodox. My family celebrates the eastern european easter and new year's. My family always puts up a tree around New Year's and have it stay up through the end of January. I celebrate Christmas, Easter and Thanksiving with FH's family. Sometimes my dad has a thanksgiving dinner so we go to FH's first, then my dad's. When we get married, we will raise our children as Catholic. We will have our children celebrate both Easter's and know about both of our traditions.

We are both Catholic so we both celebrate the same holidays. We are probably going to spend all the holidays by my family- since he has no family except his mom (who is elderly and very ill). Christmas Eve is always my favorite

We're both Catholic, so we celebrate the same holidays and spend them with my family because he's not very close with his. He loves Christmas and my fave is Thanksgiving.

Im Jewish and he's Catholic. Not too much will change except since the holidays fall at different times, he comes to my moms on the JEwish holidays and i go to his family's on the other ones. For Thanksgiving, I think we will still come to my moms for dinner since she does more of a formal sit down meal and well go to his moms earlier in the day since its just her and she just makes food and each kid who comes by, she feeds, lol.
Im actually really excited to do Thanksgiving or Christmas at our house but I would be so nervous to eff it up, lol

we are both Catholic so we both celebrate the same holidays. currently our holiday schedule looks like this:
we host Thanksgiving for FMIL & FHs grandmother.
we go to my parents house for Christmas Eve. every other year FMIL joins us there.
we celebrate Christmas morning just the two of us, then go to my parents house for gifts & Christmas Eve leftovers for lunch. then FH cooks at our apartment for FMIL & his grandmother.
New Years Eve we go to our friends house.
we host a Super Bowl party for our friends. (yes thats a holiday in our house)
FH makes St. Patrick's Day for us & FMIL.
we spend Palm Sunday with my family.
we also host Easter for FMIL & FHs grandmother. & every other years FHs aunt, uncle, cousin & cousins girlfriend joins us.

We are both Catholic and celebrate the same holidays. Holidays are tough b/c since FH is a police officer, he sometimes has to work. He's worked christmas eve for the last 3 years. I've always spent christmas eve at my parents' and he stops by when he gets off work. Things will be changing after this year since my parents are moving to baltimore. one of my sisters lives there with her family and the other one lives up here by me... we shall see what happens.

I love Christmas Eve and Christmas.
I am not crazy about Thanksgiving. I mean I like it but I would rather have x-mas. My family celebrates every holiday like 3 times (divorced and re-married parents) and FH's family doesn't really celebrate anything. He never even had a Christmas tree until we were together and he helped decorate it at my house.
Soooo I got 90% of the holiday's. We actually just agreed the other day that we will always have Thanksgiving with his family. And in return I will always have xmas eve, and xmas. We were both happy with the decision. If he should want to have Thanksgiving with my family thayt's fine, but it is his call.
This of course could change when we have our own place and want to host some holiday's. Which in that case, we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

We both celebrate all the cahtholic holidays, but r not religious. We will probably come up with our own tradiations when we have our own children as neither of us practice the religion we grew up with. For us, its more of a time to celebrate family and friends

We are both Catholic so we celebrate the same holidays... we usually split up the holidays by having dinner by one family & dessert by the other.. spending equal time with each

Re: ~*~QOTD 10/08/09~*~
I am Greek Orthodox and celebrate the same holidays as FH (who is Catholic) except Easter.....
FH family celebrates Christmas Eve and we celebrate on Christmas Day. I go to his family's house on Christmas Eve and he comes to my house Christmas morning to celebrate all day. If his parents are free and don't have any other commitments at family's house, they come to my parents for Christmas Day also.
Thanksgiving his parents usually eat early at their house....I go there early and then come home for my family's dinner.....he usually comes for coffee and dessert at my house....
Easter is pretty easy since our Easter's usually never fall on the same day. I go to his cousin's house with his parents and celebrate there. He comes to my uncles for our Easter. Two years ago, our Easter's fell on the same day and his parents came with him to my uncles house to celebrate.
I know we will want to host holidays when we get a house so I am not sure what we will take over.....maybe Halloween or Fourth of July/Labor Day, etc...
We plan on keeping these plans once we have kids as well! I think it is nice to be able to share the holidays in one way or another. If we can't make it for dinner somewhere, we can atleast go for coffee and dessert!!

FH and I are both Catholic. I honestly don't know how the holidays will be laid out after we are married. Currently we do x-mas eve dinner at my aunts, then go to his aunt and uncles house for xmas eve dessert. For x-mas I go to his grandmother's house. Easter i don't know if we really do anything... come to think of it... so yeah who knows how that is going to change!

FH and I celebrate all of the same holidays. I think what's gonna change is that we're gonna split the holidays. So half will be spent with my family and the other half with his. Although I do plan to just start combining them and bring everyone together for the holidays rather than all that traveling. Also, I'd love to host but it's kinda hard to take that away from the mama's.

Re: ~*~QOTD 10/08/09~*~
FH and I celebrate Christmas together because:
1-It's Christmas and we both celebrate it
2-It's FH's birthday
3-It's our anniversary
I celebrate regular Easter and he celebrates Greek Orthodox Easter. Lately, he's been going down to FL for his Easter and I don't normally go with him (my choice).
Thanksgiving is tough because he goes to FL with his parents and brother and they sit and eat at a buffet. This isn't my idea of Thanksgiving. I see it as a time to spend with your immediate AND extended family. I usually spend Thanksgiving with my family and then meet him in Florida a day or 2 later, so we can spend the weekend together.
Holidays are a tough time. At least we can spend Christmas together.

I'm Christian and FH is Muslim.
I celebrate Christmas and Easter; he observes Ramadan and celebrates Eid.
We take part in each other's families' celebrations though.
Thanksgiving is something we both celebrate; last year we spent it with his folks, but this year they will be doing hajj (a pilgrimage to Mecca that all Muslims do) and hajj falls during Thanksgiving this year. We'll probably just go out to dinner with his brother to a place that we like downtown.
Halloween is a big holiday for my family - FH and I will be flying to FL in a couple of weeks for their annual Halloween blow-out party.
New Year's is always with friends.
Once we're married, the traditions will stay the same, though I would like to host Thanksgiving at our place every other year or so.

i pretty much have the same situation as gina. cmas eve my house. cmas day his.
for the past few years we have been sleeping over my sisters on cmas eve after mass so we can be there when my niece wakes up and sees all the gifts santa left....
but now his niece is older and know about santa too...so that is definately going to be the hardest part to figure out
i cant wait till we have a place and maybe our nieces can stay over together!!!!
