I honestly don't remember how I met my in laws, I guess it wasn't a lasting impression....lol.

I met my FSIL first since she lived with my FH. She seemed nice, but I couldn't really communicate with her since she didn't speak English. I met FFIL when I needed to go home from his house one day and FH called me a cab and it was his dad. Come to think of it, I don't think any of my meetings were really planned...lol.

Now the funnier q's is how did he meet mine....They met for the first time when we all went to the hospital to deliver my baby....LOL> That was a classic first meeting...LMAO

I met his mother before we were officially dating on a random occasion. FH had been buying me all these gifts earrings, concert tickets, ect (I wasn’t asking for them but I had never been spoiled like that lol). Anyway the packages were being delivered to his house. His mother was in the kitchen. We said hello hi how are you yadda yadda and then FH brought out a big package and his mother said something along the lines of “another package? How much money have you been spending? You need to stop spending so much.” I already knew what it was because he can’t keep a secret, he gets too excited when he buys stuff. She was standing there and he was telling me to open it and I was embarrassed and didn't want to because it was a PRADA BAG and I thought she was going to hate me.


What about FH meeting your parents?
The first time FH met my mom we were sitting in my room watching a movie and she came in and tickled his feet (he had on socks). He hates that by the way and eww who tickles someone feet you just met a couple hours ago.


The day FH met my dad they got drunk together and watch a baseball game while I was at work. I came home to find them sleeping in the living room, one on each couch. I guess they had a good time.


And your parents meeting FHs? Our parents have never met. They will meet for the first time the morning of our wedding. I am very nervous and really wish they had met before.

so, funny story about AVOIDING meeting my FILs...

the first night i met FH i wound up sleeping over his house (and YES, WE JUST SLEPT )

anywho, the next morning i hear someone vacuuming outside his room and i was like ummm who is that? so he casually tells me it's his mom (i had no idea he lived with his parents ) and that his parents don't allow him to have girls stay over so i needed to sneak out. yeah. awesome. so a little while later i slithered my way out of the house without seeing his parents.

i think it was the next week i went over to hang out with FH and actually 'met' his parents...I never asked them if they knew i was there that first night lol

FH actually met my parents the 2nd time we hung out. we were hanging out in the living room watching football and my parents came home so i just introduced them.

i don't remember when our parents both met, but my mom and his mom LOVE each other so we all get together a lot which is really nice.

They live three hours away from each other. Its a possibility though i am going to push FH to try for it.

Have you met them?
- Yes, a few years back, after 6 months of dating, it's only FH's mother (FH's father passed away almost 11 years ago). Although, likely I met them both YEARS ago at one of our hs/jr high band concerts.
What were your feelings before meeting them?
- VERY trepidatios. I was so nervous! FH also warned me that FMIL can be difficult to understand sometimes as English is her 2nd language and she talks VERY fast. I had no trouble, and she was very sweet (still is).
How long into your relationship did you meet FHs family?
- Mother after 6 months, sister, cousins and aunts another 5 months after that.
Was it a scheduled meeting like dinner or just random?
- Totally scheduled. His aunts were in from cali, australia & hong kong as well as his cousin from cali, so it was totally planned! We went for traditional Chinese food two nights in a row and I was fed so much food!!!! (Including Frog Legs, which I now LOVE.)
What about FH meeting your parents/family?
- FH met my mother almost immediately, same with the rest of my family. He remembered my brother from HS. My father, I waited almost a year because my father was having his own issue.
And your parents/family meeting FHs parents/family?
- Only our mom's so far, we did dinner together way back when, but more to meet this Saturday at our E-Party.

Oh and I forgot to say how the parents met each other...they all met at my son's first birthday party...LOL

Have you met them?
I love FH's family. We live far away but we do try to see them a lot. They're so fun.

What were your feelings before meeting them?
I was so nervous. He kept saying...you know..you have to meet my mom. I thought she was gonna shank me!

How long into your relationship did you meet FHs family?
I actually met his brother and his dad pretty shortly after bc his car broke down and I drove him home to queens. I think it was a few months til I met his grandparents and then later the rest.

Was it a scheduled meeting like dinner or just random?
all my meetings were random.

Tell us about it! My fav 1st meeting was New Year's eve at his uncle's house. I walked in and he came over and said really loud, 'AMY! Finally! Another white person!' I'm not lying. He's hilarious. I met all his cousins and aunts and uncles that I hadn't met before that day. it was insanity. I was so nervous but they're all so nice.

What about FH meeting your parents/family?
Ant and my dad are kindred spirits. I think my dad would marry him if he could. My mom loves him more than she's loved any guy I've been with and I think more than she loves me really. When my mom was in the hospital, he'd drop by w little things for her.

And your parents/family meeting FHs parents/family?
my parents have only met his parents ONCE..in 2003 when we went to disney. We dropped off our ferrets at his parents house and they came out to say hello. yeah...they've never met again although FH's family would be thrilled if they came over. I'm so nervous about it. Not so much about my parents, but my extended family bc they're snobs.

Have you met them?
Yes - I have met everyone except FH's step mom. I've talked to her on the phone and we have emailed, but she doesn't get a lot of time off from work, so she hasn't come down with FFIL yet.

What were your feelings before meeting them?
I was nervous about meeting his mom. I had never been nervous about that kind of thing before, but this was different. I knew that this was the man I was going to marry and I was really hoping we would like each other.

How long into your relationship did you meet FHs family?
I met FMIL about a month in. FH took me to San Diego to meet her and we stayed with her at her house. I met FFIL about 4 or 5 months in. He came down to stay with us for the weekend.

Was it a scheduled meeting like dinner or just random?
Both were scheduled.

What about FH meeting your parents/family?
FH met my Dad and grandparents at a dinner for his birthday. It went great. They loved him immediately. I honestly can't remember when my mom and grandma met him. It was probably for a dinner or something as well.

And your parents/family meeting FHs parents/family?
My mom met FFIL when he came down to visit us for the first time. That went great. My dad and grandparents met FFIL & FBIL at Christmas when they came down. They all get along great.

My mom met FMIL when she came for Thanksgiving. It was interesting. My mom is not in love, not sure how she feels. My grandparents met her at that time as well. They are always nice.

Have you met them?
I met them not even 2 days after I met FH face to face

What were your feelings before meeting them?
Very Nervous. FH told them I had tattoos and piercings and they look really down upon that kind of stuff.

How long into your relationship did you meet FHs family?
OOps, I answered that LOL.

Was it a scheduled meeting like dinner or just random?
No, I went over one night to watch a movie in his basement and when they came home he went to get them. The first time I had dinner with them, OMG you're gonna roll on the floor....I went to FH's house for dinner. Things were going fine. Dinner is over, so his father passes the plate to me and says 'Jess, could you scrape the remainder of the ketchup from his plate into the bottle? We don't like the waste things.'. Confused, I did think this was a ridiculous request, and he has such a serious tone, that I was too scared not to grab the plate. The second I touch the plate, FH grabs and says 'He's joking! OMG were you really going to do that?'. I believe I never turned so red in my entire life.

What about FH meeting your parents/family?
He met them a month later. I had this thing of not telling my parents who I was dating because they are such nosey people. LOL.

And your parents/family meeting FHs parents/family?
They met for the first time the day we moved in together. It was kinda awkward because my parents didn't help us with anything and his parents helped us with all of it. We were settled in one day.

This was early in FH's and I's relationship and the first time I stayed over his place. He had his own apartment but it is attached to his parent's which I didn't know!

The next morning, we are walking to his car so he can take me home and FH says nonchalantly, 'oh, there's my dad coming down the street.'

I thought he was lying and when he said he wasn't, I actually JUMPED behind a big tree to hide!!! I don't know what I was thinking His dad obviously saw me and FH pulled me out and introduced me.

It was the most awkward morning after EVER. I wanted to dieee.

Have you met them?
Sure have!

What were your feelings before meeting them?
I was completely nervous about trying to understand them. Both FIL's have heavy Irish brogues and I was araid that I was going to have to ask them to keep repeating themselves LOL. But when I met them, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and now I understand both of them with no problem at all.

How long into your relationship did you meet FHs family?
I want to say I met FFIL about a month or 2 into the relationship and FMIL about 2-3 months in.

Was it a scheduled meeting like dinner or just random?
FFIL it was a random meeting. I was at FH's apartment and FFIL was coming over to help fix something and that's when I met him. FMIL I believe it was at a dinner at FIL's house. Both meetings went very well and I liked them instantly and from what I heard the feeling was mutual.


What about FH meeting your parents/family?
FH has actually been around a while even before we started dating. He's been good friends with my cousin for years and has been at a few family functions so they all knew him beforehand and loved him.

And your parents/family meeting FHs parents/family?
First time the all officially met was when FH and I moved into our apartment together, though I think my dad and FFIL met a couple of times before that on a job (they are in the same line of business). I think them meeting each other went as well as it could - my mom is a little shy when she first meets new people but everytime that she's seen them since then has been fine.

Have you met them?
I met his mom on Vdays, My car battery died and as we were trying to fix it, SHE got there...


What were your feelings before meeting them?
I was SO excited BEFORE i met her....

How long into your relationship did you meet FHs family?
... We were just starting to go out... 1 week!!!!!!!!!!!

Was it a scheduled meeting like dinner or just random?
Shhiiittt... She appeared out of nowhere!!! LOL


What about FH meeting your parents/family?
We had a dinner at Fridays... It was a schedule meeting...

And your parents/family meeting FHs parents/family?
... For xmas....


But I dont like now FMIL... too many bs.....

I met them the first week we started to date and Loved them!!!

What were your feelings before meeting them?
I was nervous to meet them, I was hoping they would like me.

I met them within the first week and a half! Met his awesome parents and then his awesome Sister! <3

Random.. I went to his house to watch a movie.

He met my parents on our second date! Thanksgiving Night we went to see a movie and he picked me up and came in to meet them before we left...

They all just met for the first time Saturday at out E-Party!! YAY!!!
