When I first got engaged, my biggest stress was the bridal party because I knew if I put everyone I wanted to, it would turn into what I have, which is 12 girls!!!! On top of that, I don't have sisters so picking my MOH was stressful because 2 of my bm's got veryy upset! I ended up picking my two best friends that have been like my sisters since i was about 9. So when choosing the bridal party I picked my childhood best friends, my bestfriends from college and my family!
***Now here is the question.....
How did you girls choose who you have in your bridal party and did anyone get upset with you? For girls who do not have a bridal party, what are the reasons u decided on that and did anyone get offended?

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!
Picking my bridal party was pretty easy because my 4 good friends always knew I would ask them whenever I got engaged. Of course FH's sister knew I was gonna ask her because she's gonna be my SIL so....if anyone else got upset they didn't let me know!!

My moh was easy bc it's my only sister and she's my best friend.. my other girls were pretty easy as well. I think I may have one or 2 girls that will be a lil upset after I officially ask everyone and they're not a part but I have to choose the girls that I truly want to be a part of my special day.

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!
I chose:
1. My best friend from grammar school 2. best friend from high school 3. best friend from college 4. cousin 5. cousin
It just worked out that way with the best friends, I am still incredibly close with all of them and I am so happy to have them with me.
My maid of honor is my best friend from grammar school.

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!
I have a friend who I knew from elementary school that I did not put in my BP. At that time, we had a falling out a couple of months before that and were not speaking at the time. We have since reconnected. She knows I have my bridal party and I don't think she is mad that she isn't in it. IF she is, she hasn't said anything to me about i t or showed it to me. She even made me a little bag...
As far as the girls who I chose. I have 3 sisters and I am the youngest. So I put the sister was is closest in age in the BP and FH has one sister, so she is in it. I chose my 2 best friends, as my MOH's. And I have one of friend who I have had since I was in kindergarten.
Sorry that was confusing!

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!
picking my bridal party was sooooooooo hard... there are 5 girls that i went to college with which we all promised to have in each others weddings.. but i already had 8 girls! (including 2 cousins, FH sister, and a childhood friend since i was 1)... so there was no way i could include them as well, i emailed them and they all understood...
as for a MOH... i dont have a sister.. and i still havn't decided who to pick... toughest decision b/c i dont want to hurt anyones feelings!

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!
Choosing my BP should have been much easier than it was, considering I don't have sisters and I'm not that close to my extended family (cousins and such). I knew right away that I would ask my FSIL's (two girls - FH's sister and FH's SIL married to his brother). Choosing my friends was the hard part. One of my friends from childhood was extremely flaky and I couldn't not ask her if I asked the others. So I did ask her to be a BM and she wound up dropping out (or forcing me to kick her out) about a month ago. My MOH was tough because I felt my closest friend from HS would pull through more than any of my friends from elementary school. In the end it all worked itself out but I wish it would have been easier.

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!
I'm an only child so it was hard. The biggest problem for me was that my MOH is an exchange student who lived with me 16 years ago, went to college with me, and basically became my sister. She was in NYC for years but currently she lives in Paris. Having an MOH in Paris should be interesting.
The rest of the party was hard. I just finished asking everyone last week so I don't know the reaction yet but I think at least two girls will be upset. But I had to go with my gut. I really didn't want more then 6.
I picked 1. my MOH - 'sister' 2. a friend from grade school 3. a friend from Jr. High/High 4. a sorority sister from college 5. a friend from grad school 6. my oldest cousin.
My other two female cousins are disappointed.

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!
I chose my sister and my childhood best friend as my Maid and Matron of Honor and I chose childhood friends and my current friends as well as FH's sister to fill up the rest. I have 6 people. The only person that really got upset was my sister because she was hurt she had to share the 'of honor' spot, but I explained to her that that my while my BF is very important to me, she is more important to me because she is my sister.
Always gotta be drama, right? LOL

Did anyone have someone hinting they wanted to be in it that you couldn't put in the wedding? That was my biggest problem.

Picking my bridal party was pretty easy for my. I have 2 sisters and an niece who will be 17 at the time of my wedding. I am closest with my oldest sister and the godmother to her son, so I chose her to be my MOH. I chose my MOH's little kids to be FG and RB. To not leave out my other niece (13 at time of wedding) and nephew (14 at time of wedding) I asked them to had out programs at the ceremony.

My friend was hinting for months, but I didn't even go to her destination wedding of only 25 people. But she is still going to be upset. In High School we always talked about how we would someday be in each others weddings. Now I have to figure out how to break it to her.

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!
My bridal party isn't quite complete yet, but overall it's causing me some stress.
My two sisters were easy choices as my MOH. My younger cousin was also fairly easy. My older sister got married last year, and she was in her BP, so by default now she has to be in mine. My one friend was a natural, and then after some time I was convinced to have FH's sister as well. Originally I had wanted to include her in the ceremony as a sponsor, but FH wanted his brother, the best man, to fill that role, so I figured rather than make waves, have her be a BM.
I was going to have my one friend be in it because I was in hers, but long story short, I'm no longer in hers, and therefore she's not going to be in mine. Financially, we decided that it would be best to just enjoy each others weddings as guests and not put the added stress of being in the BP on each other.
Now the one thats causing me the most stress is my oldest friend. I posted about this a while back. Every time I mention the wedding, she has some backhanded comment about it. Everyone is telling me not to have her, but I just think that will cause major problems. I don't think she actually realizes how the stuff she says comes out, not that it's an excuse for her behavior. I've been so distracted lately with photogs and being sick for a while, that she's the last of my problems. In the coming weeks, I'm going to have a sit down with her and basically lay it on the line, and see how she reacts. I'm just going to tell her that she's hurtful, and if she's genuinely not happy for me then I can't have her as a BM and see what she says.

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!
Picking my bridal party was pretty easy considering I only have one sister and she is 5! I could hardly put her in as a BM or MOH, but she will most definitely be my flower girl! As far as my bridesmaids I have FSIL, one girl from high school, and two girls I became close to through work. My MOH is another girl who I went through High School with. She is the one person I have stayed super close with all of these years and I know she will be a phenomenal MOH!!!
