*****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!

Original post by ttdiff11

Hiii girls!!!

Sorry it's long!

When I first got engaged, my biggest stress was the bridal party because I knew if I put everyone I wanted to, it would turn into what I have, which is 12 girls!!!! On top of that, I don't have sisters so picking my MOH was stressful because 2 of my bm's got veryy upset! I ended up picking my two best friends that have been like my sisters since i was about 9.
So when choosing the bridal party I picked my childhood best friends, my bestfriends from college and my family!

***Now here is the question.....

How did you girls choose who you have in your bridal party and did anyone get upset with you?
For girls who do not have a bridal party, what are the reasons u decided on that and did anyone get offended?

Congrats on BOTW!!!!

I have 9 girls, and it was not too difficult because I knew who I would have, my MOH and I have been best friends for about 13 years, and I have close friends, FH's 2 sisters and my cousins, only difficult thing is NOT having certain people because you don't want to hurt feelings, but thankfully no one was upset, at least no one has said anything to me!!!

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!

Well, when my SIL got married, she had a few girls in her BP that ended up being a nightmare. I learned a lot from her experiences and I decided I wanted to keep my BP very simple and KNOW that the people I ask will be in life forever. My MOH is my older sister. Then my bridesmaids are my SIL (bro's wife), my FSIL (FH's sister) and then my two best friends. One I have been friends with since we were 10 and the other I have been friends with since we were 14. If I asked any of my other friends, it would have opened up a can of worms, because if I ask this one, I'd feel like I'd have to ask that one...ya know? So, in total I have 5 girls...FH has 9 guys!!!!!!!!

I chose:

1. My best friend from grammar school
2. best friend from high school
3. best friend from college
4. cousin
5. cousin

It just worked out that way with the best friends, I am still incredibly close with all of them and I am so happy to have them with me.

My maid of honor is my best friend from grammar school.

haha our bridal party is almost exactly the same...

except my sister is my MOH !!!

Wow 9 guys! We both want to keep it even, 6 and 6, although there are 2 best men and 1 MOH, so we will have 4 groomsmen and 5 bridesmaids. But actually FH is having a much harder time picking then I did. He would have a much easier time if I told him he could have 9.

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!

I have 8 bridesmaids.

I picked my 6 best friends from my childhood who are still my best friends to this day. I think one of my college friends was upset but I really couldn't have a parade of girls so I decided not to ask anyone from college.

My other 2 are my FSIL's. And it is kind of funny because the one just got married last October and did not include my fiance in anything on her day (which I totally disagreed with). He said he didn't care but that day, yeah I could tell he was upset because he was the only one from his family not included. (Not right!)
And then she has the nerve to have an opinion about everything that I have done in my wedding. I have really felt like saying to her the only reason she is even in my wedding is because I did the right thing and included her because she is his sister. But I have kept my mouth shut about it because she will soon be family. I just ignore her now! (but it was hard at first!)

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!

This was a pretty easy choice for me. I have 4 in my party -- my sister, his sister and 2 friends that I'm close with in college. I didn't have any problems when they accepted but now i'm starting to run into issues over money and paying for things like the bridal shower for certain girls in the party. I kind of wish I had asked another girl that I was on the fence about but we decided that we wanted to only have a bridal party of 4. So we'll probably ask her to help be an usher.

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!

I have 2 BMs and 1 MOH.

My MOH is my cousin and one of the BMs is her sister. Growing up we did everything together, including sharing our birthdays. They're like the sisters I never had. I chose my MOH because I was always a little closer with her. The other cousin did not get upset at all. My other BM is a friend I met through FH. It's FH's best friend's wife (and he will be a GM). The other guys are FH's brother (BM) and my brother (GM). We wanted to keep the BP small and include the people closest to us.

Yea, its so annoying...he has too many friends, LOL. But actually in his defense, 4 are my brothers and BIL, so its really 5 friends that he wants to have. I told him he didn't have to have all my brothers, but he thought it was the right thing to do, so I can't argue. MOH and BM will walk together then each BM will walk with 2 GM, so its not too bad. It's KINDA even in that respect, LOL

Re: *****QOTD 10/19/08***** MY FIRST QUESTION!

My bridal party was a no brainer. I'm having both of my sisters as MOH. That's it. I'm the last of my girlfriends to get married (everyone else got married YEARS ago) and even though I was in all of their weddings, when I got engaged, one of them actually said to me 'please do not make me be a bridesmaid at our age - I will do anything you want and/or need me to do for your wedding, but I don't want to be a bridesmaid!' so that made it easy and perfect because I didn't want to have a large bridal party and if I had one of my good friends I'd have to have them all.

My FH seems to be having more drama with his groomsmen!

My bridal party was pretty easy...MOH was my sister and since I only have one that was a no brainer. I have 3 friends that I grew up with and 2 girls I have gotten really close with over the last 5 years. One of the girls actualyl introduced FH and I.
