I saw a friend on facebook start this yesterday, and thought it was very appropriate post-Sandy: she started a November 'Today I'm thankful for...' list, once a day until Thanksgiving.

What are your thankful for today?

I'm just so thankful that, through everything, my family is safe and tight on the island and in Connecticut.

Today I'm thankful that my family and I have avoided the hardships that much of NY and NJ is going through right now. Not once did we lose electricity, water or suffer any damages.

I'm thankful to my love and his National Grid and LIPA coworkers who are working around the clock to get everyone's power and gas back on.

I'm thankful for my husband who is running around to family members to ensure that while they are without power, they have generators set up, gas to run them. I'm also thankful that my family came through this storm, healthy and safe - things can be replaced.

Im also proud of FH who has left his family and the safety of home to help protect others

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR a roof over my head.

SO many people lost everything they had because of this storm...I THANK GOD I still have a home, my family is safe and most of my belongings.
