In total, how many venues did you go to see?

I looked at 5 places. Jericho Terrace, Inn at New Hyde Park and Leonard's in Great Neck the first day.. then I went to The Wind Watch and Fox Hollow the next weekend. I knew my heart was set on Wind Watch, but my mom made me go to Fox Hollow just to see my options, I felt bad for my mom because I was totally not into the fox hollow and just wanted to book the Wind Watch, but I'm glad she made me go to all of the places to see what I want and didn't want!

We saw 3 - Westbury Manor, Three Village Inn an Bellport. We LOVED TVI and Bellport instantly and were a little hesitant since they are a bit of a drive from our church. Ultimately we picked Bellport. FH was in love with it immediately and we loved the food at our tasting.

We went and saw three venues in total. We did a ton of research online before going to visit anywhere. We didn't want to waste time driving around to venues so we narrowed our search on very specific criteria. Of the three, one we eliminated immediately after visiting due to cost and also the 'uppity' attitude of the person we spoke with. After looking at the other two, which were comparable in both price and location (on the water) we felt more comfortable with the service we got at the VYC where we booked.

We looked at 4 all together, with Bridgeview being the 4th. I hated the first 3 places and was so upset that I wouldn't find anywhere to get married in my budget. I loved other places but didn't realize how much money they were. As soon as I walked in Bridgeview I fell in love and the best part was that it was under budget.

three- the NHP Inn, Milleridge, and De Seversky.. I loved de seversky but the room wasn't that big and the NYIT discount my FH got wasn't really that significant.. We were going to go with the NHP inn, but the price was just so high that we couldn't justify booking there... When we went to the milleridge and saw that the menu was almost exactly the same as the NHP inn, we booked on the spot!

11! But only because we originally wanted to get married in Westchester. We looked at 9 venues in Westchester and found nothing we loved/could afford. When we started our search on Long Island we looked at two; the Metropolitan and the Woodlands. Once we saw the Woodlands we fell in love and stopped our search. It all worked out because now I get to get married at my childhood church and I am in LOVE with the Woodlands.

Just one! LOL! We used to go camping at Wildwood a lot when we were younger. And we'd visit the farms and just drive around while we were out there and we ALWAYS passed the East Wind. I would always look longingly as we drive passed thinking, what a beautiful place that would be to get married. So, when we (finally) got engaged, I knew immediately where to go first. I went with my girlfriends to a showcase at the East Wind and I was sold. I took FH the following weekend and we booked on the spot.

That being said, since FH and I started dating (11 years ago) we've been to 18 (yes, you read that right, EIGHTEEN) weddings together. I've been to just about every wedding venue on Long Island, so it's not like I don't know what's out there. A lot of the places I also loved, I knew we couldn't afford. And, I didn't want to get married anywhere anyone else had. In 18 weddings, we've NEVER been to the East Wind! I'm so excited for my own wedding, I could burst.

Oh boy. We saw a lot!

I took off a week in march to start the hunt since i had extra vacation days. My parents and I went to Fox Hollow, Woodbury Country Club, Carlyle on The Green, and Harbor Links. Then FH and I went to see Majestic Gardens, Giorgios, Fox Hollow (again) and finally Bridgeview. Initially i was in LOVE with Carlyle but it was definitely out of budget. Then i fell in love with Giorgios and the price was right and it was PERFECT. However after some soul searching, i knew in my heart it was too far to ask FH's family to travel to from NJ and Staten Island. I was so disheartened! We finally booked an appointment with Bridgeview and it blew me away. I absolutely loved everything about it. I'm so happy we were patient and didn't book a different venue just because our initial favorites didn't work. It was definitely worth keeping up the hunt :)

We saw a lot! We had in our mind originally vineyards and quickly found out the price was out of budget. So then we just had to scrap the whole vineyard idea and start from scratch which is why we saw so many cause one we liked were out of price range one that were we hated until we went to JT.

I'm crazy. I went to every hall on long island minus the mansions. I wanted a place closer to me though and seeing the new room at Fox. was meant to be.

I was actually engaged years ago so that's probably why I saw more halls than the average person. I also saw a few just for fun with my girls who wanted to see certain places for themselves (though they aren't engaged lol) though I'd never get married there because a cousin did/friend did/etc. and out of all the years I always loved Fox (my ex hated it) and FH loved it. so yeah he's def the right one.

9 total. Started the search on July 2nd and picked our venue on August 5th, which marked two months to the day of being engaged. Fun stuff!

We went to, in this order I believe:
1. Westbury Manor
2. Carlyle on the Green
3. Russo's on the Bay
4. Giando on the Water (in Brooklyn)
5. Sand Castle
6. Crest Hollow
7. Glen Island Harbour Club
8. Beckwith Pointe
9. Chateau Briand (the winner )

Chateau La Mer was next on the list. We had an appointment with them the day after Chateau Briand but after seeing CB, I knew the search was over. Plus, we are in Queens and felt maybe Chateau La Mer would be too far out, as most of our guests are in the boroughs as well. All in all, as fun as it was, glad the venue hunting is over with. I felt that to be so stressful.

That's so funny, thats the first time I saw someone mention Giandos. My grandma was a bartender there for 30 years and my grandma's cousin owns it..I always dreamed of having my wedding there since I pretty much grew up in that restaurant, but I heard the food and service really went down-hill since the old days. The owner's son had his wedding there last year and my grandma and mom said the food is just not what it used to be and they had terrible wait service.. Even though we could have gotten my wedding for pretty much nothing there, I knew in my heart I had to have amazing food that peoeple would be talking about years after my wedding.

We did a lot of research online and sent a lot of preliminary emails for information - just to weed out places that weren't going to be contenders. We ended up just visiting two places though - the Metropolitan and Fox Hollow. We left the Metropolitan under-whelmed. When we left the Fox Hollow, we both agreed that it just felt right. Vast food selection, good per person pricing, and I just loved loved loved the all the windows and the glass ceiling in the Winter Garden Pavillion. Perfect for our 130 guest winter wedding

We were limited in our search as we have a 350+ guest list and wanted one wedding at a time. We looked at Carlyle on the green first, inquired with watermill but it was 2 parties at a time, and then went to old westbury country club. We essentially knew from the start we would end up at Carlyle.

My cousin had her wedding at Carlyle in October of 2012.. everything was amazing, however taking pictures outside on the green was kind of hard on all the girls's heels.. but I see they sell those heel savers at davids bridal you should look into if you haven't already!

We went to 5. Swan Club, Douglaston Manor, Westbury Manor, The Riviera and The Metropolitan. We were sold on the Swan Club for the longest time, but Hurricane Sandy hit us in the wedding savings, and we spent our deposit money on repairs. When we were ready to put the deposit down, the SC was completely booked the weekend we wanted. Instead of booking another date, we looked at other places that were available. When we saw The Metropolitan, we knew this was the place we wanted.

We saw 3 venues - Venetian Yacht Club, North Ritz Club, and Woodbury Country Club. We absolutely fell in love with North Ritz and I really liked the idea of one wedding at a time. We booked a week later!
