I looked at 5 places. Jericho Terrace, Inn at New Hyde Park and Leonard's in Great Neck the first day.. then I went to The Wind Watch and Fox Hollow the next weekend. I knew my heart was set on Wind Watch, but my mom made me go to Fox Hollow just to see my options, I felt bad for my mom because I was totally not into the fox hollow and just wanted to book the Wind Watch, but I'm glad she made me go to all of the places to see what I want and didn't want!

9 total. Started the search on July 2nd and picked our venue on August 5th, which marked two months to the day of being engaged. Fun stuff!
We went to, in this order I believe: 1. Westbury Manor 2. Carlyle on the Green 3. Russo's on the Bay 4. Giando on the Water (in Brooklyn) 5. Sand Castle 6. Crest Hollow 7. Glen Island Harbour Club 8. Beckwith Pointe 9. Chateau Briand (the winner )
Chateau La Mer was next on the list. We had an appointment with them the day after Chateau Briand but after seeing CB, I knew the search was over. Plus, we are in Queens and felt maybe Chateau La Mer would be too far out, as most of our guests are in the boroughs as well. All in all, as fun as it was, glad the venue hunting is over with. I felt that to be so stressful.
That's so funny, thats the first time I saw someone mention Giandos. My grandma was a bartender there for 30 years and my grandma's cousin owns it..I always dreamed of having my wedding there since I pretty much grew up in that restaurant, but I heard the food and service really went down-hill since the old days. The owner's son had his wedding there last year and my grandma and mom said the food is just not what it used to be and they had terrible wait service.. Even though we could have gotten my wedding for pretty much nothing there, I knew in my heart I had to have amazing food that peoeple would be talking about years after my wedding.
That IS funny. It's too small for the average sized wedding but would be great for a shower!

We went to a lot! The woodlands (which was wayyy out of our price range), lombardis on the sound, three village inn, mansion at timber point, smithtown landing, giorgios, and Majestic Gardens. FH did not want our reception at a golf course due to golfers being everywhere, so that knocked out a few. It came down to Lombardis on the Sound and Majestic Gardens. We did not like Lombardis because they weren't very friendly and the décor wasn't our style. They also had an extra fee to view the water which was ridiculous. Majestic Gardens was our last stop and the minute we stepped into the ballroom we were like this is it! Olympia and staff were so nice and accommodating. Plus the grounds and food are beautiful!

I may be the winner. LOL. We saw ALL the venues. :-P
We saw 35 venues. Heaven bless my wonderful FH, because he came to every one of them.
Just a few I can remember: Coral House, Mansion at West Sayville, De Seversky, Bourne Mansion, Crescent Beach Club, Riviera, Flowerfield, Land's End, Old Field Club, Three Village Inn, Stewart Manor CC, Beckwithe Manor, Greentree CC, The Hamlet, North Shore CC, Venetian Yacht Club, The Metropolitan, Thatched Cottage...That's only half of them!!
And of course, Giorgio's, which was the clear winner. I had a very specific vision of what I wanted, and Giorgio's hit almost every one of them!

We looked at 2 places, but researched many places for our reception..first place was the riviera. And it was nice, but the lady we spoke with kinda rushed us through the appointment. So that turned us away from booking. It was also alittle too pricey for our budget.

I always knew I loved Floral Terrace, but FH swore he didn't like it. I swore he didn't know which venue it was, so I went to go see..
1. Larkfield 2. Venetian Yacht Club 3. Floral Terrace.
Everything about Floral Terrace was right. I brought him to go see it after my first appointment and he didn't remember not liking it at all, lol. I've heard nothing but great things about that venue, so I should have just went there to start lol. Although I've heard great things about the other places, Floral Terrace is just right.

I had a friend that got married last October and her FH lives in NJ so I went with her to see a few different places. It actually worked out for me because I was able to immediately dismiss those places off my list when my time came around. FH and I only went to two venues - Flowerfield and Floral Terrace and even though Flowerfield is beautiful, we knew Floral Terrace was the one right away!
