**QOTD 12-7-09**

Good afternoon/evening lovely ladies. I'm sorry but I'm going to have to be a late poster. I walk in from work at 3:30 and that's gonna be a good time for me. I hope thats ok!

Thanks again to Jamie for choosing me this week. I'm super excited to get started!

Ok. My first question is....

Have your FIL's met your family? How did it go? Do you think they got along? If they haven't met yet, are you concerned? If so, why?

My FIL's came from England for the weekend last May for FI's 30th birthdaY. We had a huge welcoming party/birthday party in my backyard and then we all went out to dinner on the other night. Our dads got along like long lost brothers. It was amazing to see. Our moms didn't really spend too much time talking and it was a little disappointing. They spoke more over dinner but they didn't hit it off in the way that our dads did. I'm just glad that we got it over with. I was worried because his mom is very conservative and mine isn't. But, for those of you who haven't has your families meet yet, Good Luck!

My FH (at the time he as my BF) pushed the parents meeting early on.

He plays in a community orchestra and invited my parents to his concert to which my reply was 'well your parents will be there' and he said 'yea so?' to which I then said 'so our parents will be there at the same time?' LOL I just couldn't wrap my head around the fact that they would meet.

This was about 3 months into us starting to date. Anyway - after the concert we went back to my FIL's home for some dinner and it went off w/ out a problem. Now they have hung out a couple of times at different family functions - they were here for thanksgiving with the rest of my immediate family. We have a lot of the same dynamics which is great but also have some differences.

They get a long - which is all I can ask for. I don't need them to be best friends, I almost think that would be strange lol.

They are like from 2 different worlds but both so friendly and nice it went better than I had hoped.

My FIL's have only met my mom and one of my 3 brothers when we went to Puerto Rico last winter. His mom and my mom also didn't talk too much...i mean his mom was extremely sweet when we visited and did things with us but I just think she is sort of quiet in general from what ive seen. Fh's dad loved my brother and talked a lot more even though is english isn't that great. I'm looking forward to all of my in-laws coming to NY for the wedding and meeting my dad and the rest of my family. I have to admit it still makes me a little nervous and all since I always care a lot what other people think of us but it should all work out.

our parents have met a bunch of times. We've been together since 9th grade, so I think the first couple of times they met at prom before parties while taking pix and everything was ok. They got along just fine. Both of our parents are very nice, so I don't really worry how things will be in the future as our families combine, but I am excited to see! My dad is quite a character, so it will be interesting to see how holidays go as hopefully FH and I start hosting in a few years!

Our parents have not met. We live in ny as well as my mom and his parents and sister are in in FLA. They spoke after the engagement though and his brother who lives in NY comes to many of my family events. My nephews are down in FL in Ft Myers 3 hours from his parents so they actually plan on meeting in Jan. with out us!!! WEIRD i think. Especially b/c it would just be my mom and both his parents. BUt we will see how that goes! I'm not worried about them meeting. My family is a wild fun crazy close irish family. His family is Jewish. Not very religios but still different. It should be interesting but a lot of fun. His family has welcomed me with opens arns and my family does the same! Its so exciting!

Well FMIL and FFIL have met my mother when FH and I moved in together. My mom can be kinda of quiet when she first meets new people so they didn't talk too much. Plus my mom was in 'move/clean mode' when they came by so that's was also a reason for lack of convo. FBIL and FSIL have met the majority of my family at this past Labor Day BBQ and they seemed to get along just fine. They both thought my grandmas were hysterical (which they are lol). FFIL and my father have met a numerous occasions and they seem to get along as well. And obviously, my family loves FH.

After we were engaged, FH and I went to dinner with my parents and his mom and stepdad, and then separately with my parents and his dad and dad's girlfriend. It was all very nice! His parents have yet to really meet my sisters or extended family, though they did briefly because all 4 of FH's parents came to my grandma's wake in October. Hopefully the next time they all meet, it will be under easier circumstances!

our parents first met last march. Its hard to get them together with the way his parents work schedule is on the weeekends and they have to come from CT. They get along very well which is so great so I dont have to worry that my in laws hate my parents and visa versa since thats what happened to my cousin. They have now been down here twice they were here with FSIL and nephew for when we had our mass after pre cana

My FMIL has met my parents. Other than that, the extended families have yet to meet. FH and I might set up a engagement and/or housewarming party this summer and invite both families. I'm a little nervous, but I think each side will find some common ground and get along very well... (I hope... )

They met shortly after we got engaged and they both get along really well. Both of our families are very similar so I knew they would really like each other.

They haven't met yet. FMIL is the complete opposite of my mother, so i am very nervous. She's wired pretty tight and my mom on the other hand is the sweetest little old lady.
