How Much have you changed since you met your FW/FH?
For me… I have changed a lot. Without going TOO MUCH into it… let’s just say that I was in a VERY bad relationship before I met Jackie. I was trapped. My life was miserable. Mentally, Physically, financially… when I met Jackie, my life turned around. I know that sounds so corny, and scripted… but it’s the truth. I like to refer to these few years as the black hole of my life. I really can’t remember about them. I turned away my friends, my family… it was an absolute nightmare
Then I met Jackie. And at first I thought it was so great being around her because it was simply just new. But that “newness” never actually went away. I started hanging out with my old friends again… and they have all told me how much I have changed for the better. I looked happier, I felt happier, I acted happier. I suddenly gained back my confidence that I hadn’t heard from in over 5 years. My financial troubles were fixed because Jackie put me in line and set up my finances for me. She put me on track with a lot of things. My priorities were all out of whack before I met her, and now I see them perfectly clear.
As much as I love Jackie for who she is, I think I love her even more for what she did for me. She made me feel like I was someone special; she made me feel good about myself. I haven’t felt things like this for years. I honestly don’t know where I would be had Jackie and I never started dating. But everyday that I look at her, I think about all this, and it solidifies all my sincere feelings I have for her, and it solidifies the decision I made to ask her to marry me.

Re: QOTD - 12/10 - Groom (sorry)
When I first met Shawn I was barely even legal (I turned 18 a couple of weeks before we started dating)...I was in a REALLY bad realtionship, mentally abusive/drug dealer/gun smuggling, REALLY bad relationship. I met Shawn at a time in my life when i really needed someone to be there for me and tell me 'it would all be ok.' We started dating and of course I was always hesitant to open up, or pretty much do anything bc of my past relationship...but Shawn showed me it was ok to be myself and let my guard down every once in a while. He is the one person who was able to make me feel comfortable in my own skin. Also, when we started dating like i said I was 18...I was completely immature and just didnt understand basic concepts of things or want to understand them. Since I have been with Shawn he has helped me grow into the person I am now. There is just too much that he has done for me to put into words, so i figure these two things will do.
Another great question John!!!

Before I even answer this question, John I think you need to meet my FH and teach him a thing or two! Jackie is so lucky!
So to answer the question, I definitely have changed, I think I have learned to be a little more laid back, go with the flow. Of course, I still like to control everything, but whatever happens, happens. Also, I learned to take my education more seriously thanks to Andrew.

lol... I'm not a typical guy. i grew up on a dead end block... it was me and 4 girls. my best friends all my life have all been girls... Jackie and her friends refer to me as a girl... lol. i eat this kind of stuff up.
it's funny how on some aspects i am such a man (football, burping, passing gas...etc)... but when it comes to sincere things like this... i'm such a woman. lol. i love expressing my feelings and i do it all the time. Jackie tells me that it's her favorite thing about me.

FH could answer this question in a heartbeat.. but it's a little harder for me.
I met Justin after a long stint at being single, before that was what I like to call THE WORST RELATIONSHIP EVER. I was emotionally and physically abused for 4.5 years. When I finally got out a lot of my friends had drifted away (with good reason), and I had no idea how to be alone... hence the stint at being single.
Justin cares for me without any ulterior motive, and that was completely eye opening. He allowed me to trust him...He's my biggest cheerleader and actually believes in my accomplishments, which has gone a long way to helping my suffering self-esteem. The best way to put it is He's in my corner all the time. And I love him.

how have i changed since meeting FH? hmm....i definetly voice my opinion more. John can be very stubborn but i admire that because when he feels something he lets it be known and he doesnt back down from what he feels just because someone else disagrees. i feel i have adapted that into my life now as well.
i also feel i have become more affectionate and loving because he is so open with his feelings and he makes me comfortable doing the same. i was never in a relationship that was so open with the feelings all over the table and just the displays of affection being everywhere. but i love it. i eat up all that mushy gushy romantic stuff and he gives me that all the time.
oh and i have a bad habit of cutting people off when they speak and he has pointed that out to me and i am currently in the works of trying to fix that...its so friggin hard!!

When i met Daryn, i had been single for a year, and was actually happy being single. My relationship before that was on and off for almost 6 years and it was definitely not the best and it in the end we realized we are better being friends.
When I met Daryn, i was very resistant and didn't even want to start anything and he was very persistent and knew that he wanted to have a relationship with me and i kept laughing at him.
So he has showed me that things come when you least expect them and your not looking for them. He has also made me more of a patient person to make up for his lack of patience.

when i met Marcel i had been single from 2 years and had come out of a relationship it turned really ugly after we broke up and it got worse by the time i started going out with Marcel, my ex would follow me, climb up my window, check my emails, wait for me outside of my house and make scenes that why did I get another bf (NOTICE I'VE BEEN SINGLE FOR 2YRS) and he still thought he could take control over me, he got my self esteem really low and i ended up weighting 75lbs because i was so depress over that guy...TURNS OUT HE IS A COP NOW yes a COP...and before he became a cop he wrote to me and told me HOW HE THOUGHT OF ME AND FH while practicing his shooting PSYCHOOOOOO! but it's over now i haven't heard from him and it hopefully stays like that!....My relationship with Marcel is like being in heaven he is an amazing guy and goes out of his way for me he is too good to be true i think sometimes lol i love him

When Tom and i met we were both young.. 19. i was in a very weird place in my life... i was dating people here and there, not doing to well in college and i just didnt care. As some of you know we met online.. and i was actually dating some loser.. for lack of a better word.. when we met. I was definitely interested in Tom but for some reason i just gave him the run around for a few weeks. He was VERY persistant, sent me flowers, letters, called all the time.. but at the age of 19 i wasnt ready for what i knew was to become of our relationship.. i knew when i met him that i would be with him forever. and what 19 year old wouldnt be scared of that?!?! finally i gave him a chance.. he took me to nyc to see the tree, out to dinner etc.. best night of my life.. but on the way home.. i called the other loser... i guess bc i was scared... Tom knew what was going on and he sort of disappeared... this is when i came to my senses... i called him on New Years Eve.. we talked about everything and we have been together ever since...
Tom has made me realize that i need to open up more. he made me value my education and he taught me to not be afraid of losing or failing... and if you never try you will never have the opportunity to win. i guess in a sense Tom gave me reason in life. Reason to be a better person. Since we're been together i definitely see what is important in life and what i need to do to make myself happy. He is by far the BEST thing that has ever happened to me...

when Chris & I met, we were both extremely young. i was only 16 & he was 17 going on 18. neither of us had a relationship before we started dating. we have changed a lot but thats because we have grown up together. he didn't know what he wanted from life yet & i had absolutely no clue. but after only a few months of being together we knew we wanted to be with each other forever. our relationship threw us into being adults over night. one day we were little kids the next day we where together for the rest of our lives.

First of all if John keeps coming up with posts like this and questions like this the other grooms might now wanna get on here how am I supposed to follow a heartfelt post like that???
Well I have definitely changed for the better since I met Colleen... My last relatiosnhip before her ended badly with my ex cheating on me and then it was like I went into hiding... I didn't go out with friends didn't try to meet anyone really all I did was stay home and watch tv play video games and eat... Which isn't much different from what I do now LoL but I go out with Colleen now so I get out cause she makes me lol...
My other thing is I am more in control around her... I am almost always in a good mood... I used to have a short fuse and a jealous streak but with her I know I don't need to worry because she loves me as much as I love her...
All in all I would say I have changed a lot... But without a doubt for the better!

Re: QOTD - 12/10 - Groom (sorry)
I think I've changed in that I grew up alot and became ridiculously responsible. I met FH 3 months after I moved back to NY from Los Angeles. I was miserable here...and really just wanted to move back to California...back to my fun and exciting life of parties etc. But I met FH and it made me realize I moved back for a reason. We moved into together 6 months later...and a month after that...he got custody of his 2 kids. So in less than a year I became a step-mom and fully resposnible for running a home. This is something I never thought I could or would do...but I am managing...with a few mini nervous breakdowns along the way. LOL
