aww what happened? was it price? i know they have a winter package deal that may be good.
my parents gave us a budget and that was the budget...so they would only be able to pay for the RH in that case....so fh & i had a decision, either flowerfields or fox hollow. so we chose fox hollow bc we have to contribute less....sounds greedy in a way but now we are able to buy a home. so in a way i chose a house over the dream reception. i'm ok with the choice bc i still love fox hollow and at least now i am looking to buy a home. in the other case, i would not be able to do so.
Its a very smart decision. My friends parents said either a wedding or a down payment on a house, she chose the wedding and now she says she shouldve taken the down payment on the house.

I originally wanted to go to city hall and just have a dinner after with my immediate family. But.... FH had never been married and he wanted the whole wedding experience, so here I am today on LIW planning. Now I am glad to be doing this, not just for him. I am having great time planning.

I think im a weirdo lol I never pictured anything before or after we got engaged I have been planning as I go. the one thing is I wanted a saturday wedding and it will now be on a sunday but im ok with that now!

Christine, you totally made the best/smartest decision. i honestly would've done what you did in a heartbeat.
as for my plans changing:
-it's on a Thursday night now...i wanted Friday night so bad - my minimum is still crazy high...i wanted something small and intimate -my dress is going to cost me more than i thought -my photog isn't exactly the one that i wanted due to astronomical prices -my budget sn't where i want it to be...it's much higher lol

I completely agree - if you need to chose between a down payment or a wedding you would be a nut to chose a wedding so you made a wise decision

I actually really really really wanted to get married in Newport, Rhode Island where I went to school. I had the place picked out too (Castle Hill Inn)...and fh was all for it. My parents said no way, too expensive and they were right (its like 300pp) It would have also been really inconvient for guests from both sides of the family cuz its expensive to even get a hotel in Newport and people would have to travel kinda far. So we decided to do it on Long Island but we're happy with our decision. At first we also said no more than 100 guests but our guest list is up to 190 so there goes that idea!

I didn't have ANY ideas. I never really thought about it. Last FH and I talked about engagement *prior to 7/23/08* we decided we would think about getting engaged 7/09. He surprised me a year early. whirlwind!!!

i really wanted a saturday wedding, which i got. i wanted to get married on my parents anniversary (which is dec 16) but since it's not falling on a weekend, that didn't happen. i knew the colors i was using from the time i was like 20.

i wanted to get married in Puerto Rico by the beach! obviously that is not happening! but it would have been lovely! another thing is that i didn't want to wear a veil i wanted to wear a mantilla but my mom insists i should cover my face ughh..so i'll do it for her because i love her and she's been a wonderful mom! ...i can't think of other things

I always assumed I would have a Friday night wedding b/c of cost. But I picked a RH all the way out east and thought guests would strangle me on a Friday night...so I'm having a Sat evening wedding. It's something I didnt think my parents would allow...but it was their idea.
I also envisioned high centerpieces and am going with low...to cut costs...and b/c I think high ones might be too much in the ballroom.
