I definitely thought my highschool/college b/f was the one. We were together for almost 4 years and we were really inseperable, even when I went to college upstate and he stayed in the city. We discussed marriage and I thought it was a done deal. I couldn't tell you exactly what happened- toward the end we just grew apart (and that's when I moved back to Queens!) and went our separate ways. I met up with FH again about a year later and started dating him a few months after that!

ETA: My friends and family were SOOOOOOOO happy that my ex and I broke up. They hated him. Haha! They love FH though!

Never been married before, but there was 1 other that I spoke to of marriage, but didn't even get close to it.

i was married before but i definitely didn't think he was the one. it was more of a citizenship thing, although it was also the worst mistake i ever made...and didn't end in citizenship for anyone.

I was with my ex before FH for 5 years. We talked about marriage during the last yr and a half - but I finally came to my senses and realized that it was never going to happen and that he was not the right one for me.

I was living with an ex for 1 year, thought he was the one when we moved in together and sadly, learned he was NOT the one after time. He definitely thought we'd be married.

Best thing EVER (sarcastic) is that he sits approximately 20 feet away from me at work.

Ugh! That s*cks! I wouldn't be able to stand it. I'm friendly enough with the ex but we run into each other about once a year.

never been but i dated my high school/college BF for 6.5 years and we used to talk about it, so we thought it would happen. I am more happy than you could ever imagine that i woke up and saw the light... he was such a loser.

yes. I was engaged to my college boyfriend my senior year of college but then we broke off the engagement after I started grad school. Turned out his parents weren't happy about my refusal to convert to Judaism (he was Jewish but at the time, didn't practice nor cared) and I was Catholic. My parents and his parents basically hated each other so that was the end of that.
Good thing we never married because we were really incompatible on a deeper level.
