Hey ladies!! I am soooooo excited to be bride of the week, shout out to Jassy for picking me!
My first question is..
If you could have anyone at your wedding, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Lately she's been on my mind constantly so I would have to say my paternal grandmother. I never got to know her as well as I wish I could.. She'd lived in Portugal all of my life and when I was about 10, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. We visited about every other year but towards my teens, her health really started deteriorating.. Fast. She began to have almost Alzehimer's like symptoms and the last time I saw her (Feb 2010) she asked if I knew how her granddchildren that lived in America were doing.. meanwhile we were right in front of her! She passed away in August of 2010 but I was on a cruise at the time and was unable to attend the services.. Hardest thing to deal with thus far! Everyone always says how my personality is just like hers & I look the most like her so I really wish I would've gotten to know her better, I'm sure she'll be watching me on my day!
Your turn ladies!

I wish my Maternal Grandmother could be at my wedding. She passed away when I was 8 years old. It's weird because I remember certain things about her, but not as much as I would like to as I was very young...

I have five... I would love to have all my Grandparents and my Aunt Ellen. But if I had to choose just one I guess I would have to say my Aunt because for years I knew I wouldn't have my Grandparents at my Wedding, but my Aunt died younger then she should have. I'm hoping to wear a piece of her jewlery on my wedding day and either my something old or borrowed.

This one is easy. I wish my grandfather could attend. He passed away in a freak work accident when I was 1. I was his only grandchild at the time and everyone tells me how much he loved and adored me. Apparently he was quite obsessed. Anyway, we still talk about him every day even though its been 23 years.. so it would be nice to have him there. I am however, wearing the veil he made for my mom to wear on her wedding day.

I would pick my grandpa. He lived with us my whole life and passed away on my sons birthday 3 years ago. He was diagnosed with cancer and died 3 weeks later. I know he will be there in spirit but I wish I could just hold his hand on my wedding day!

It would be my brother Macho.. real name Alex although I never called him by his real name ever. He passed away almost 19 years ago (my God I cant believe its been that long) at the age of 17. I was 11. He was killed in a fight He and I were very close. We had the typical brother sister relationship.. 1 min we were screaming I HATE YOU to each other and the next we were laughing and joking around. All these years later and I of course still miss him so much. I wish he was still around, I know we'd be so close. Even though he isnt here physicalky I know he is with me everyday watching over me and he will be at my wedding in spirit. I love u Macho. R.I.P.

That sounds good!
FH wants Stephen Colbert to come MC. He said, If he charges 10K that's do-able right? You have to admit it would be funny!

I would have to say both my paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather, FHs father - I never got to meet him and I know FH would love for him to see how well he's done over the past few years and be proud of him, & my cousin David - he committed suicide almost 5 years ago and he was like an older brother to me. I wish he would've been around to see how much I've turned my life around and to meet FH cuz I know he would have loved him.

Oh wow that's really awesome!
I would have loved to have my grandparents. Unfortunately I am the youngest of the whole family so that generation is pretty much gone and my mom only had one sister. I wish they could still be here! That's a beautiful story and I would love to do that for my grandchildren (if I have any!)

Re: ****QOTD 1/23/12****
My nana, she died when I was 10. I was such a nana's girl growing up, not a daddy's girl or my moms. My parents were going through rough times both with their relationship (they are still together) and financial, so I spent almost all day with her, Mon - Friday, then Sundays, aside from school.
I know she left me a diamond and sapphire ring. She left a note with it, for it to be given to me when 'appropriate.' My mother was hoping it would be my engagement ring - but FH didn't ask permission!
Now it will be my 'something blue' on my wedding day. I can't wait to have that part of her with me.
Otherwise.. after a night of My Fair Wedding reruns, I'd have to say David Tutera.

i love and miss all of my family members who have passed away, but i would choose FH's grandparents. I got to grow up with both sets of mine; my dad's parents are still kicking in their mid-90s! but he doesn't have memories like that, and i think it would be nice to have them around for him and to meet them.

I wish my grandparents (both paternal and maternal) could be there. Especially my mother's father - I was really close to him. I'm the youngest grandchild on both side, so my grandfather babied me lol

My paternal grandmother who passed away when I was 13. We spent at least one Sunday a month at my grandparents house having a true Sunday dinner. When I got engaged my grandpa said to me when your grandmother was sick she said the reason she didn't want to die was she didn't want to miss her granddaughters' wedding days (she has 4 granddaughters and no grandsons). Since I am the first of the 4 to get married I know it is hitting my grandpa as much as it hit me.
