What are some of the weirdest/stupidest comments people have made about your engagement/wedding? Things that make you go..'huh?'

I have had multiple ppl say this to me when they see my e-ring:

'Wow, he must really love you!' --- i dont' understand this comment. Like if fh couldn't afford to buy me a nice ring then he doesn't love me as much?! i think its a ridiculous statement and i don't understand when ppl say that to me!

i dont know if this qualifies... but i have had people ask me what the point is of spending all that money on a wedding. 'it's just one day'... it's annoying.

i also have 2 kids from a previous relationship, so that seems to confuse people sometimes. i dont know why, but when i tell them i have kids they say ' then why are you getting married?' it's so friggin weird that people cant understand my situation. it's not the most uncommon thing in the world today

2010 why so far away? are you sure you want to get married? Why are you so young and engaged? Why are you spending so much money on a silly party? marraige is life changing are you sure your ready? why arent your parents paying for anything? Why bother getting married in a church go to court instead...

FH & i will be together 9 years this March, so prior to getting engaged we always used to hear, 'when are you getting married?' since getting engaged we hear, 'why are you waiting until 2010?' know that we have a date set we hear, 'omg its coming up so fast.'

We were together 9 years also when we got engaged...we heard a lot of 'it about time!!'

The 'why are you planning now, the wedding is so far away?!?!'

The next good one is 'why spend so much money'? Put it towards a house, I can understand that but I'll buy a darn house when we are good and ready, Hello, did I tell you what to do with your money???

FH's family keep questioning why did you pick January, couldn't you pick a warmer month-its going to be sooo cold. I respond with yes, but 1. we wouldn't be able to afford it and 2. It wouldn't work with FH's schedules

I had a coworker look at my e-ring and say 'Nice, modest... perfect for a social worker.' I know I don't have the biggest rock out there but FH worked hard to get this ring and its beautiful. Shes just a jealous old hag who isn't going to get married...lol...im mean

I also someone say 2010...so far away why even bother...this was when we had almost two years to go...i explained to this person that people do like to have time to save for a wedding, not just rush into it and have debt because of it...

Same exact thing. We are actually together 9 years TODAY!

Oh ok, I’ll forward you all my wedding bills and then see if you ask me the same question. We could have a wedding in 09..but it wouldn’t be the one we truly wanted
