QOTD 2/15/14

Hope all of you ladies had a nice valentines day! It was the last one as a Miss! I freaked out a little bit haha.

So I recently was talking with a friend and wasn't really aware that wedding gifts for your future spouse are actually a thing. I didnt know itt became common to buy a gift for the wedding. Are you ladies getting your FH a wedding gift? Did you know about this?

QOTD 2/15/14 - Long Island Weddings

My FH and I agreed our money could be allocated to more important things than gifts for each other. We will probably get each other gifts while on our honeymoon. For one, we'll have more expendable cash and two, it will serve as a souvenir from our trip!

I knew about it, he's not getting anything from me. I didn't get a gift for any birthdays/holidays, not even Valentine's Day ever. I need to stop buying him gifts all the time :/.

Yes I knew about the tradition but really, it's optional. I don't know what we're doing yet. We are spending the first two days of our honeymoon in Disneyland before flying to Hawaii for a week and a half. So maybe we'll get each other something there.

Apparently not, never got one besides the engagement ring, he always says he didn't know what to get me. I tell him he can't go wrong with flowers, because if I didn't like them, they'd be dead in a week. lol.

QOTD 2/15/14 - Long Island Weddings

My FH's hobby is photography, so I got him an iPad and made a slideshow with the pics we've taken over the years and loaded it onto that. I also was able to get him a DSLR camera he's been wanting, since I got a pretty good deal using a couple of gift cards I had lying around.

FH's gift is the groomsman cake I'm getting him (since it's costing me more than i thought). If I can afford it, I'm going to try to get a boudoir shoot too.

This is so cute! Wish I could drag my FH to disneyland. The look he gives me when I ask if we can watch one of those animated pixar films is so sad. lol

I didn't realize it until recently when my MOH mentioned it for her upcoming wedding. It depends if my budget allows, I'm thinking of getting a live painter since he loves art and paintings.

Is his family Jehovah's Witness, so maybe he was raised without the practice of giving and receiving gifts? Have you ever expressed to him that you would be happy just with the thought, and maybe a gift receipt?

You shouldn't NOT buy a gift just because he doesn't buy for you. That's not what its about. I give gifts to people who never buy me anything. Its not about tit for tat. Sure its nice to be thought of in regards to holidays ... but you should give gifts to see how THEY appreciate it and about how excited THEY get when they open it.

Take for instance my FBIL and his fiance. I got them very thoughtful and involved gifts for the holidays from JUST me and then i got them a couple gift for them together and they really loved them. I don't even like them but it made me feel good knowing that I made them happy.

Maybe he thinks you wouldn't appreciate it if you're difficult to buy for.

I bought FH a Canon EOS Rebel. He's been wanting one for about 20 years or so, since they first came out. I found one on eBay that's practically new. Comes with 2 lenses, flash, memory cards, charger and the camera bag. And about a quarter of the price of a new one. I can't wait to see the look on his face when he sees it.
