When you envisioned your wedding day prior to being engaged, what are some things you didn't foresee?I didn't foresee some of the drama. My parents are divorced and are both remarried and my stepfather and I are so close. I had lived with him for over 10 years and we are two peas in a pod. I had asked both him and my father to walk me down the aisle as I wouldn't have it any other way and my stepfather said 'of course' and my father told me 'no'. He has always had some type of hatred towards my stepfather because we all love and adore him and my dad finds that threatening. I couldn't believe my dad told me no but he said he wasn't comfortable and took it as an attack on him as a father that I wanted my stepfather there. This is my wedding day and they have both been there for me but more so my stepfather and he deserves that recognition too and my dad has caused so much drama and BS in my lifetime that I said 'ok I won't force you' and that really was the end of it. My stepfather is walking me and my dad is not, maybe he will change his mind but the only way I will let him walk is if he agrees to do it with my stepfather, otherwise I would just rather my stepfather.

I didn't realize how much everything was going to really cost!! It's absolutely insane. I also thought I was going to be so excited to look for a dress and do things with my BMs but I'm actually dreading dress shopping!

I didn't forsee having such a hard time finding a venue I loved and in my budget and then having to change my vision. I also didn't expect that I would have to worry about everyones damn feelings all the time. I feel like I have to cover all my bases so as not to insult people. It's just annoying, it's my wedding and I'm worried about making other people happy instead of myself. I guess the money thing too. Ugh this question is depressing! lolOn a happier note, I didn't forsee my mom being as excited as she is. So that's nice. She loves everything wedding & has even set up a pinterest board for wedding ideas! haha

I didn't foresee the drama, the costs, or the LACK of interest I'm getting. I'm trying my best to make everyone happy which is, of course, impossible. And I really had no idea how insanely expensive it all is, I'm still within budget, but finding vendors to keep that budget was stressful. I also feel like everyone made a way bigger deal over my sisters wedding two years ago, like now it's sort of 'been there, done that'. It's incredibly annoying. At this point I would take fake excitement lol I dunno, maybe it's just my middle child syndrome

I didn't think I would be this picky!! hahaha I was hoping to have more of an open mind for everything! I just know how much I'm spending on everything and don't want it to go to waste!I also can't (and CAN) believe how much everyone else REALLY makes it about them. For every single one of my friends weddings (wether in the bridal party or not) I smiled, told them how awesome everything was, listened to hours and hours of drama and was their cheerleader. Was hoping for some of that in return, but not getting it all the time!

I was a Medical Receptionist/ Administrative Assistant for so many years and got bored of the schedule too so about a year ago I started nannying and LOVE it! It is much more fulfilling.

OMG I feel exactly the same way about this entire post!! Maybe I didn't think I would be so picky, but I also didn't realize how hard it was to get exactly what I wanted! And not have to sell a kidney to do so

In regard to the second part, I never thought certain friends (and bridesmaid) can be so completely selfish. I've already been told I'm acting like a bridezilla (which I ABSOLUTELY am not), and that there are colors that she won't wear, and 'don't think I'm standing outside in the heat with my hair down' and not to expect too much from my bachelorette party because she probably won't have money since she's starting her teaching career and paying back school loans.
I'm just trying to take everything in stride and smile, because, as a good friend just recently told me, the marriage is about me and FH. No one else is going to be in it, so no one else gets an opinion

I think I'm with almost everyone in this post! LolI definitely didn't expect myself to be AS laid back as I have been since I'm not really laid back about things when I'm excited...
I also have a few friends that are barely excited for me which is weird because, similar to what other people have said, when I hear someone is engaged I don't even have to know them I get excited and happy and ask them a zillion questions and with me it SEEMS like no one really cares (exaggerating but you guys get it)

OMG...I never thought my wedding would turn out to be the way it is...first of all my photographer drama that basically all of LIW knows is ridiculous and it is making me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway- i wanted a backyard wedding, then a destination wedding and now I'm having a big wedding...it's nice however, maybe wasn't my vision...
I'm so stressed over this its making me nuts...FH doesn't see eye to eye with me at times
I'm nervous about buying a condo and don't know where all this money is coming from
and not to mention I'm nervous about my work future...I work in a catholic school....hopefully they will not close- that would just be the icing on the friggin cake!!!!
anyways.....it seems like we all didn't see this coming!!! lol i know we will all always be there for each other during this process and it will be ok!!! if stress doesn't kill us first!

I didn't expect to want to have certain people involved... and I didn't expect to want certain people not near/in my wedding at all. I never thought I'd want to involve my step-father at ALL in my wedding... let alone wanting to dance with him but... thats where I'm at. I want to dance with him at my wedding.I also didn't expect to have so many people be so rude about wanting to be invited! If I hear one more time 'I BETTER GET AN INVITE' I'm gonna smack a b*tch.

Well after tonight I can honestly say I didn't expect pre-cana to be so aweomse!! It was so laid back and really just everyone sharing experiences and points of view and FH and I both really enjoyed it!One of the other things I didn't see coming was planning a wedding while I was student teaching (aka NOT getting paid for 5 months). I originally went to school for accounting and decided that even though I loved math, it wasn't for me. When I went back for special education, FH and I discussed not getting engaged until after I was done with school, but when the opportunity presented itself to go on a dream vacation to Hawaii, I guess he couldn't see not doing it there. He was able to throw me off, so it was so nice being genuinely surprised, whereas in May I would have expected it...but all the incoming bills don't exactly match up with one person's income.

I hear you girls! I've worked in offices when I lived in Tampa and since I've been back in NY I've been waitressing which is mean money but I need a 9-5 to keep a schedule like FH's because it's too hard to work opposite hours.
