QOTD 2/10/09

Hi ladies,

I am so tired today and busy with work!!! ARGH!

Today's question:

What do you think about Valentine's Day?

Are you doing anything special with your FH? If so, what?

Even if you feel its a money making holiday for big companies are you upset if you don't do/ get something special?

Do you prefer flowers over chocolate - or want both?!?!

My answer to come later!

To me V-day is like any other day. Why does one day have to be special everyday should be V-day.

(can you tell I'm sooooooooo in love with FH)

DH is very anti-gimmicks and he thinks restaurants that have overpriced pre-fixe Valentine's day menus are gimmicks.

So... we are staying like we do every year. I agree with him and am happy to just hang out.

Our first v-day together we stayed home and ordered in (there was an ice storm). Last year, he was in FL visiting his parents (that was a huge fight and he will never visit his parents again for v-day). This year, we are going out to dinner.

I prefer flowers over chocolate - especially because if he gets me chocolate he'll eat most of it!

We try to do nice/ romantic things for each other all year round. To me the 'just cause' things randomly through out the year are most special.

it is amazing how a random ' I love you' text can make your day.

However, I am still a firm believer in V-day!

I could use a new watch lmao

We don't do anything too crazy for V-Day... I wouldn't MIND getting flowers, but other then that, I don't really mind. LOL. And, we always exchange cards... LOL. That's it though. HA

It's nice to do a little something special for V-day. FH usually sends me flowers to work but since it's a Saturday this year, we'll probably just go out to dinner.

FH isn't what you'd call the romantic type so I don't expect anything special for most events. If I had to pick, I'd pick flowers over chocolates but I'd rather get flowers like peonies rather than red roses because red roses don't require any thought, they're just kind of a given. If I had a choice c I'd pick jewelry!

Vday isnt really a big deal to us anymore... this will be our 9th vday together... we're lucky if we even get cards for one another now.... we used to like write a freakin novel inside our cards... now we're lucky if it even gets signed LOL FH was ALWAYS bad in the flower dept... either I never got em or they were half dead from a supermarket or gas station As for chocolates, it took FH about.. lets see... 7 yrs or so to get it through his head that i ONLY want caramels... yeah, that may seem a bit demanding but all other choc goes to waste with me... but if they are caramels, i def want them over the flowers LOL

we usually just go out to dinner, but this yr we really have nothing planned... no exchange of gifts anymore really either...

I think of V-Day as a Hallmark holiday. . .but that still doesn't mean that FH should forget to send me flowers. I've dropped enough hints to him over the past couple of weeks!!

We're going to try to get reservations at Grand Luxe Cafe for Saturday. . .we both LOVE that apple pie thing and we're willing to go off of our diet for just one day for it. . .

I love Valentines day just for the really cute stuff I can buy after it's over hehe Otherwise it is a pretty commercial holiday but it's nice to have someone to celebrate it with. We usually don't do anything big. We're going out for a nice dinner this year. No chocolate for me! I'm allergic! So I'd have to go with flowers.

THis year we are going to cook dinner together. We don't have any extra money with only 2.5 months to go. We never go crazy any year but this year it is a card and home cooked meal.

I do like v-day, i always said it was no big deal but then if NOTHING is done I have to be honest and say i feel sad. Not that it should be the ONE day you show love or anything like that. Nor do I think that you have to be extravagant and buy gifts and go all out. But just that little effort. 2 years ago we stayed in and dh cooked me dinner and it was amazing, but i love that he did something. We've done both the big dinners and also more low-key and either are great. Although v-day usually becomes a joint celebration with one of our bdays. his is 2/5, mine is 2/15 and dating anniversary is 2/17. Last year I took him out to dinner on 2/10 i think and we went all out for that but it was a combo of all those things lol

DH and I both like going out to dinners so its nice when we do that too.

For me I WANT some effort that week bc my bday is also the day after V-day so thats another reason why. Whether v-day or my bday i think a card, dinner, or anything is nice, i guess more so for bday lol.

We’re not buying each other presents this year since 1. we’re saving for the wedding and 2. we just bought Rock band 2… so apparently that’s our present to each other.

We’re going to dinner though, we’re going to King Umberto’s which is the first restaurant we went to when we started dating.

i'm so sad because my boss put me on the schedule for the 2 days before, 12 hour shifts, then valentines day is a 12 hour, and then the next day which is an 8 hour. I get home from work at 10 pm so there is no way we can even do anything :o( *****!

I LOVE valentines day, I think its fun and romantic. I even loved it when I was single, doing something special for my other single girlfriends. Besides its a pink and red holiday, how can you go wrong.

This year however we are not celebrating because we will be in NJ celebrating one of my best friends 30th birthday, which takes priority.

I prefer flowers over chocolate.
