~*~*~ QOTD 2/1/10~*~*~

What has been the most stressful thing you have dealt with so far?
Besides how we are all going to be able to afford the wedding of course!! This doesn't have to have anything to do with wedding planning per say, it may be just something with family/friends that came up as a result of your planning...

For me it would have to be a combination of things. Finding a RH was pretty stressful, but looking back on it, I think it was more stressful because it was the first big thing I had to do! Once I got into the swing of planning, it seemed to be a bit easier.
The biggest thing for me would have to be other people's input. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE and value other people's opinions, but it seems like certain people in my family are a little too excited! and when I tell them about things I have planned, its not right, or not good enough and they had their own ideas. Mine are wrong. And the fact that they keep bringing up things I haven't put any thought to yet, kind of stresses me out! Sometimes I walk out of my family's house more stressed than I leave work! lol

I agree with you!! We just booked our RH yesterday and I think that feels like a HUGE stress off my shoulders and I feel like now I can start looking at all my major vendors.

I also agree with your second statement. I am VERY thankful for all the help and advice I have been getting but sometimes that can get a little stressful as well.

The church (pre-booking).

Just contacting the church in the first place was nerve wracking to me (as I've said in previous posts on the topic, I feel like this is the main event, where everything happens, and it just makes it seem more real to me). It took FOREVER to get the priest on the phone... left tons of messages with the secretary at the rectory, sent emails and got nothing for like 2 months and it was so frustrating. But, he finally got back to us and he was such a sweet man and we did everything over the phone and it was a breeze from there. I'm now more relaxed about it and that we officially got our date!

picking a date

FH is in med school (we got engaged June 2008 and he started school 2 months later) so we knew we were going to have a long engagement bc we didn't want to do the summer of 09 and then after that, we weren't sure when his next break would be. He gets 2 months off during his 4th year but we weren't sure if he gets to pick which months or if they're dictated to him. I asked him to go talk to the 4th year coordinator at the school FOREVERRRR to figure out how 4th year works and it took him about a year to do it
before he went to talk to her, we were thinking about getting married over thanksgiving of 2010, but then we wouldn't even have time to go away for a mini-moon, so we figured it would be worth it to wait the extra year so we had the time to do everything we wanted

Def. filtering out good and bad input from family - people have random opinions about random stuff all the time. Then the stuff I get excited about no one seems to care LOL i keep reminding myself to pick and choose my battles but sometimes that is really hard!!!

I def think the first stressful thing was the RH because with that we had to pick the season then the date and it took so much out of us well me. But now that that is over last night I went over the formal guest list I had a temp one to get a est # of guests for the RH but I finally made one up with addresses and stuff and ohh man that was very stressful. I think bc my fam is so small and FH has his mom's side stepdad but not his fam his dad and then his stepmom and their fam ugh 150 ppl came real quick and then friends.

Dealing with FMIL's opinions, definitely. Just yesterday she scoffed at what I want with flowers. I swear, I can't win with this woman.

booking the RH was stressful. i was so torn between so many things. then, my dad prepping me every night on how to negotiate the prices. it worked, but it was stressful!! dealing with in-laws isn't a walk in the park either.

altogether, i have enjoyed those parts even if they make me a little tense. for me, the most miserable stressful thing is looking for a home. we both live with our parents still but plan on buying soon, and it's just been such a heavy weight on my heart.

house hunting is hard! we were looking for a while before we found ours. i thought we would never find one. Then I got that same feeling with the RH lol
You will find a house! and its like what people say.. when you find it wou will know... its true. you will know when its the one! Good luck!!!!

FInding a date was the most stressful part thus far. We had finally settled on a date and I expected my FH to talk to his family to check the date and we booked the rehearsal hall. Only to find out that my FH never talked to his family (I now know to talk to his mother instead of relying on him So talking with everyone- with family obligations there were only two dates that we were able to schedule the wedding.

However planning a LI wedding from Florida is a bit stressful as well

For me it was getting the date I wanted. I had a hard time with the RH in the beginning with getting the exact date I wanted. They told me that someone was interested with the date already but there wasn't any money involved. I told them that I would pay double than what the other party was putting down. And when I tried to call back, the woman on the phone screamed at me!

So I called back and just said that if this is going to be such an issue, I'll pick another date.

I'm not upset with my date. It's only a week after from what I originally wanted. But the communication was so stressful!

the most stressful thing so far is drawing the line between which guests to invite and which to put on a 'B' list in case I have cancellations on my 'A' list.

There are some people in my life that I consider somewhat close but not sure if I would want to invite to my wedding. There are also a couple of long term acquaintances I have which I've drifted away from in recent years so I am not sure whether I should send them an invite or just keep it to our local friends and close family.. Its a real tough judgment call!

I originally was going to use Alfred Angelo as my BM dress designer and I told the Bms that they could pick out their own dresses.

MOH tried on a dress and loved it in Sept. And my cousin couldn't find one to try on because there are not many plus sizes.

In Dec. the salon attendant recommened Bill Levkoff and my cousin found a beautful dress that flattered her body and she fell in love. Me being sensitive to her feelings decided to go with that designer.

Only my MOH flipped out on me saying how she can't believe this..blah blah blah. YES I know that I told them one thing and then changed my mind but the other 2 BMs didn't care that I changed it. But I was thinking about someone's feelings. The whole dress experience was ruined for me. Because she gave me a hard time, I changed the dress to the one my cousin chose to make it easier on myself (after MOH dress shopping was not good at all)
Every person that I told this to said I'm not wrong because its my wedding in the first place.

I guess I have 2. One has to do with money. I am working 60 hours a week to get some extra cash. FH cant get extra hours and b/c he is a chef his hours are crazy so he cant get a second job. LUCKILY the office I work at is having him come in Saturday for extra hours so that helps . I got to school 16 credits this semester and have been getting up at 6am to go to the gym. Just time wise I feel like i have NONE!!!
