I'm sure like everyone else mine is a long story. We were supposed to see a play in the city, however, broadway went on strike.
Then he said we would go to lunch and then look at rings in the diamond district with this guy 'steve'. Then 'steve' called and said he couldn't meet till later.
Then to 'kill time' we went on a horse and carriage ride and he got on one knee and proposed. (oh yeah it took him two times around the park!)

Re: QOTD 2/27
It was my 25th birthday, March 29th 2007, and he took me on the same dinner cruise we went on my 22 birthday, which was the first bday we shared together and the that was the night he told me he loved me for the first time, so that first time was a special time.
He had the whole night set up so that EVERY crew member new what was happening, but me!
We had an amazing table, there was champagne chilling at out tableside, it was so beautiful and romantic.
At sunset he asks me to go out on the deck. We are walking and taking pictures.
He starts telling me how much he loves me, and how he knew from the first day we met that we were going to be together forever.
Then he started saying that he had no clue what would be good enough to get me for my birthday, that he wanted to find something really special for me.
THen he said what could be better than to make me his wife
And he got down on one knee and said,
I want to spend the rest of my life with you Will you marry me!
It was such an amazing night! We walked in everyone was clapping, We were crying.
It was the perfect proposal!!

Re: QOTD 2/27
I copied this from my engagement announcement on this board: On Saturday October 6th, Michele and Pat went to Schaner Jewlers to find the perfect ring. Michele chose her diamond and setting and from there on, she had no idea when and where she wold get her ring. The week of November 1st, Michele and Pat went to Myrtle beach for a week. Michele did not even expect to receive the ring as she thought she would get it around Thanksgiving or Christmas. On November 3, 2007 Michele and Pat went to Broadway on the Beach and walked past a waterfall. Pat stopped and showed Michele the waterfall and popped the question right then and there. Lucky for Michele and Pat, Pat's parents were there and were able to snap a picture of the proposal. Of course Michele said yes and put on that sparkly ring.
Picture of proposal is in my album

Re: QOTD 2/27
copied it from our wedding website -
Bonnie was off her feet due to foot surgery, so the couple spent New Year's Eve on the couch, sipping wine, watching Entourage reruns, and waiting to watch the ball drop on TV. As the clock struck midnight, Chris gave Bonnie their New Year's kiss with champagne in one hand, and the ring on the pinky of the other. After their kiss, he showed Bonnie his pinky and asked, 'Will you marry me, baby?' It was the single most exciting moment of Bonnie's entire life! So exciting, in fact, that she kept shrieking, 'Oh my goodness!' until Chris finally asked, 'Is that a 'yes'?'

Rich and I were suppose to be going upstate the weekend of my Birthday...the night before we were suppose to leave he says,' heath I think you should pack quick we are going to disney in 5 hours!' I couldn't believe it little did I know that this was going to be my engagement trip. Sunday we went to the animal kingdom and then later on went to the polynesian resort to sit on the beach right next to the wedding pavillion to watch the magic kingdom firework spectacular 'Wishes'. It was 9:45 and he was getting a little nervous checking the time until the fireworks started at 10:00. The first big boom went off with the music in the background...
'When stars are born, they possess a gift or two. One of those is, they have the power to make a wish come true.'
And there he is on one knee in front of me. It was perfect! right after I said yes two huge red heart fireworks went off behind the Magic Kingdom Castle....it was the most magical moment of my life!!
When we returned to our room there was a glass slipper on a bed of white carnations with a card, 'Here is to our happily ever after'
sniff sniff - I love reliving this moment!

Billy and I met in college and have been together for just over 5 years. We recently moved in together in Charleston, SC and were about to go home for the holidays. We wanted to celebrate Christmas on our own, so we exchanged our gifts on the 20th. He cooked a romantic dinner by candlelight and then we opened presents. Afterwards, I noticed that there was one more gift under the tree, but it was a shirt box, so I didn't think anything of it. He gave it to me, and inside was a poem that said to look at the tree and I saw an ornament saying 'will you marry me' with the ring hanging off of it. I turned around and he was on his knee and I just started sobbing! He was like, are you going to say yes?! haha, it was so perfect!

Preparing to live Happily Ever After...
Every once in awhile, Special K and I try to have a special date night. On November 18, 2007 I brought her to a few of our favorite places to go. The first place we went was the Holtsville ecology site. It sounds kind of silly, but it is very special to us because we had been going there for a long time, even before we started dating. On our first official date I brought Special K there after dinner and we had our first kiss at sunset on the scenic overlook. We went back this past November and tried to walk around a bit. It was a bit chilly so we decided to go into the greenhouse. However we could not because there was a bridal party taking pictures there. Talk about irony! I was already nervous, this didn't help.
After walking a bit, we drove down to Port Jefferson and had dinner in a nice Italian restaurant. It was such a nice relaxing dinner, being able to enjoy a fine meal and each other. After dinner we tried walking around a bit, however Special K got cold and I had to move up my plans a bit.
I took her to a small courtyard near the water. I had scouted the location out the day before. So I already had an idea of how I wanted to propose. We were just sitting there talking and holding hand went I reached into my pocket and pulled out my ipod with speakers and began playing our song, 'I finally found someone', by Barbara Streisand and Bryan Adams. I then took out three silk roses from my pocket and with each one, I expressed how I grew to love her from the past, the present and how I wanted to continue to love her far into the future.
I got down on one knee and just did it! I asked her to be my wife and how i want her to be with me forever. Thank goodness she said yes. Otherwise I might have thrown myself into the water! After we finished crying and hugging each other, I walked Special K back to the car. She wanted to go to her parents house and show them the ring, however I had other plans. I explained that I had already taken care of that, and they were all already at my house waiting for us. They had champagne waiting for us and everyone was really happy.

Re: QOTD 2/27
In Sept we went on a trip to Hawaii. I knew it would be the perfect setting for a proposal, but FH kept going on about how he needed to save money with just changing jobs and all. Our first day there we were trying to figure out what to do that night. We decided to make reservations at a restaurant everyone had recommended, but FH suggested we make it late enough for us to watch the sunset on the beach outside our condo. As we're sitting waiting for the sun to set we notice there is a wedding down the beach a bit. We were just casually talking back and fourth, mainly FH telling me how much he loved me, etc and the next thing I knew he was on one knee.

Re: QOTD 2/27
our first valenitnes weekend together I gave him a book that was a journal for me to personalize about him. In it was a page that said...'this is a coupon for....' and I had to fill it in. I wrote that it was for a proposal to spend the rest of our lives together. I wrote that I didnt need a ring just cash this coupon in when the future comes and the time is right. So...3 years later (this valentines weekend), we went away again. I came out of the shower and the whole room was lit by fireplace and candle light. There was an enevelope on the table that said open me. Inside was the coupon...he dropped to one knee and cashed it in! Lucky for me...he gave me a ring! LOL

The Date 12/25/2007 @ 1:30 AM
The Place Our Living Room
The Setup After over 6 years of WAITING it FINALLY happened! Over the last few years, holidays have been upsetting because they came and went with no ring. Well, Christmas Eve 2007 was no different. We spent the night with my family and then went home. That's when the bad mood started. I figured it was just another holiday with no ring so I just had my little attitude and just wanted to go to bed.
• The Ring •
1.25 Karat T.W. in White Gold. 4 princess cut diamond center stones with 10 round diamond accents
As I was setting my alarm for the next day, Wayne called me into the living room. I was like, 'What do you want? I want to go to sleep!' He asked me to come and look at a new ornament that he bought for the tree. Meanwhile, I'm thinking, why is he showing me this at 1:30AM? So I walk into the living room, blind as a bat since I had taken my contacts out already, and I headed over to the tree. I put my face really close so I could see and there, hanging from the tree, was a BEAUTIFUL diamond ring. Now, at first, I was skeptical because for our anniversary a couple of years ago, we were out to dinner and he pulled out a ring box and of course I thought that was it but he immediately told me that it wasn't what I thought it was. So, I looked at him and was like, are you serious? And, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!! I don't even know if I said yes out loud, I just remember repeating Are you serious? Are you serious? It was hands down the single greatest moment of my life!
