QOTD 2/3/09

GOOD MORNING LADIES!!!! Hope you're all warm and safe this snowy morning!!!!!

So I'm having a mental block with questions so if I'm a little lame, please forgive me, I'll do much better tomorrow!! :)

So this is kind of a tiered question....

How do you feel about FIL's, do you get along well, do you have FBIL'S AND FSIL's? if so, how do you get along with them? What do you call FMIL and FFIL? Is there anything abou them that bothers you? Are they part of the planning of the wedding? If so how are they helping? Anything in particular that you wish they would not do?

I should answer this myself too!!!!! FIL's are a touch subject for me! I got along so well with FFIL but he passed in 2006, I have 3 FSIL's and although 2 are in the bp, they're no help!!!!!!! FBIL is the BM and again, is no help, although it's fine because I'd rather them do nothing so they have no say in the wedding, which brings me to FMIL, who was SUPPOSED to do a few things for the wedding and ended up doing NOTHING...which again, fine by me, but she always has to get FH to run for her, which is a story for another day...I think I answered my own questions so now it's your turn!!!! Have a great day ladies!!!

I have to say I'm very very blessed with my FIL's..FH's parents are from Italy and are very warm gentle people. They have been so great with the planning, they have said that since they can't help us financially with the wedding, just tell them who they can invite (how many). They are letting us plan it all. All they care about is the food-we went for the tasting and they were thrilled. Their only request is a pasta course. Pretty easy!

My FBIL is awesome, totally hilarious-he and his wife are wonderful and we all have a lot of fun together. My FSIL was such a help with selecting the BM dress (my favorite!)

EVeryone's really just letting us do our thing and very supportive. FH and I are really, really lucky.

My FIL all live in Israel which is thankfully an ocean away from here
FH and I moved from there almost 3 years ago. We had a pretty good relationship while we were there nothing to extraordinary. The touchy subject is money, which they don't contribute and constantly complain about. I have a FBIL, he is a bit weird (you have to know him and there's not enough space to elaborate) but harmless
They r all (all 5 of them including FBIL's wife and baby) coming two weeks prior to the wedding and I know it will be hard but so exciting for FH that I'm willing to put up with it all and I'm sure you will all put up with it with me :lol

i absolutely LOVE my FIL's. they are all amazing people. I call FMIL and FFIL by their first names. FMIL is definitely interested in the planning and wants to hear all about what we are doing. FFIL isn't involved or invited for that matter. (long story)

but i love FH's sisters, his SIL and BIL. LOVE!

I have basically no relationship with my FILs. I'm very happy they live in Florida! I'm not crazy about them and there have been quite a few things about the wedding that have pi$$ed me off when it comes to them. I call them nothing - we don't really speak.

I have FSIL and it's basically the same relationship, which is we don't really have one. She also lives in FL with her husband. She came up to visit her friends on Sunday and FH and I picked her up at the airport. It was the first time we saw her since we got engaged - there was no 'let me see the ring' or 'how's the wedding planning going'

They are very cold people. I could go on forever about how rude they are, but there's no point.

However, I love, love, love his aunt and uncle who live up here. I wish they were his parents. They are so warm and welcoming.

My FSIL and i are okay not super close but ok. She's not really helping out but i dont mind because i rather do it all myself plus she's young (21) so doesn't really know about wedding stuff and doesn't really care to know i guess. FMIL is in her own little world she just asks what i have done and doesn't bother to ask if i need anything..so whatever i'm used to it from FH's family.

I loooooooovvvvvvvvvvvve my FIL's. My FMIL is great she is always giving me wedding advice but she is so old school I don't have the heart to tell her HELLO IT'S 2009. So I just listen and and tell her I'll look into it.

Most of my BP is all my FIL's. One is BM and one is a Groomsman. MY FSIL's are bridesmaids and a one of FH's cousin is my Matron of Honor.

They are all very helpful in my planning. They were all recently married ( withing the last 3yrs) and they all got married in LI . So they are so great about the do's and don'ts. FH and I have been together for over 5yrs and they were so excited and really happy when we announced our engagement.
I wouldn't want any other FIL's!!!

I have to say that my FILs are totally awesome. They treat me like one of the family already...and whthout even knowing it they give me that warm fuzzy feeling inside. LOL. They havn'et really 'helped' per say at all...b/c I really don't want help. I tend to always find the cheapest deals before buying anything... and I do plenty of reaserach... plus I always do alot of DIY. HA. They have offered help here and there, which is a great feeling...but I always say that's it's OK. Or, I'll give them all something easy that I already reserached. HAHA. So, I can't really complain...LOL

I like my FIL's a lot...unfortunately i get horrible allergies every time i go over their house bc of smoke/dust/etc. I think they think i dont like them because i dont like going over there but its not true....im just allergic to everything.

FH had 2 brothers, one died last march from drugs and the other is a recovering addict. It amazes me that FH is the polar opposite of his brothers....doesnt smoke or drink...nothing.

FSIL is like my sister, she is my MOH and feel lucky everyday to have her! FBIL is younger and he's a sweetheart. FILs, who i call by their first names, are great! FMIL wants to get me invites and will help with little things.

I have been very lucky.....My FIL's are awesome and its great becasue my family is now in Florida so I feel blessed that I have another family close by. The FIL's though can have family drama where my family we don't have that kind of stuff go on....but hey it keeps it interesting.

I have to say, I have great FIL's. FH's parents are so kind and generous and have completely welcomed me. FSIL and FBIL are cool too. His whole extended family is really loving, so I'm very fortunate...even though my own family is completely different, small, more low key, quieter, his is great.

I am blessed with my Fils. They are a very warm and loving family. I call them by their first names or sometimes momma and poppa Ra..... They are pretty low key when it comes to the wedding plans but then again we really haven't done too much as far as planning.

My FIL's have been pretty good throughout the whole planning process. There's always the headache of the guestlist but otherwise I can't really complain. FMIL is a lot like my mom so I just try to take it in stride and let FH handle her so I don't have to worry. FFIL has been helping with the invitations and decorations! He's been great!!! He's an architect so everything has to be precise of course! :) FSIL helped my MOH a lot especially with the Bridal shower that just passed. Everyone's been great!

I think I get along really well with FILs... It's been a rough road for me personally because I am an extremely shy person and his family is so super close. It was a little intimidating at first but I think finally (after like 3 years! ) I am starting to show my personality a bit more and that has enabled me to feel a lot more comfortable with them.. They are all really great people and I am so lucky I have them as FILs!

As for wedding planning, FSIL has been very helpful and so have Fhs parents.. They are all very honest in their opinions (which I really do appreciate!) and they do not try to force their opinions on me if I disagree.. There was a bit of a chaotic moment when choosing my RH hall because it is further away than most people would have liked it to be but overall it has been a good experience..

My FILs are very nice and we get along well. There are little things here and there that bother me, but nothing major.

Re: QOTD 2/3/09

It was a rocky go with my FILs for a while because I broke up with FH in the past. So they were not very happy I was back, after breaking their sons heart. But its better now. I never am sure if FMIL likes me, but I think she does. She was cheering on the phone when we got engaged and she seems enthusiastic when I show her wedding stuff, but I never know if it is truly sincere. FFIL was a very rough person until he got sick. Now he is a teddy bear. I would much prefer him to be healthy, remembering things and being the rough, unemotional guy I remember him being but the silver lining is that in his new emotional state I have no doubt in my mind that he loves me very much. FBILs, they are both very different from FH and from each other. I get along with them ok, but I don't think they will really ever feel like my brothers. I hope I am wrong. If I lived in NJ it might be different though, I only see them once every two months in the winter and probably once or twice a month in the summer.
