I guess my question yesterday was bad because only two people responded!!!
Anyway....
A fun question I am sure you will all love!!
HOW and WHY did you pick your wedding dress? How many stores did you visit? How many dresses did you try on, etc?
Include a picture too!
I will post my answer when I get home!!

Great, a dress post!!!!
I ripped out magazine pages the night before my first appointment at Wedding Atelier to show the people there what I liked. FH also ripped out a few pics and we realized we were totally on the same page. At the appointment I showed them the pics and they had one of the dresses there! I tried on first a dress sort of like it but lighter (would have been great if I had a summer wedding) then the dress from the magazine, then a really heavy ball gown (not for me...) then an expensive lacy dress that looked great on the hanger but horrible on me. Well I loved the second dress so much (the dress from the magazine pic) that I didn't even need to try on anything else! and as it turned out, FH was actually the one that pulled that magazine pic, so technically he picked my dress!
here is a pic at my first fitting:
and a pic of the bustle in progress!

My pics are in my album because the file is too big.
I ended up going to just one store DB. I tried on 3 dresses. I ended up going with the first one i tried on. When I got home I was having doubts, I asked Fi to just choose from a magazine what kind of dresses he likes and he was choosing every dress that didn't look like the one I just bought...lol In the end, I kept the same dress. I was thinking to get something big with a long train but then I thought knowing myself I would regret it. My dress is ivory and I was also thinking maybe I should just wear white....But now, I am very happy with my dress!

My mom and I went dress shopping 'just to browse' at the Wedding Salon of Manhasset one day. I tried on about 8 dresses and when I found my dress I didn't want to take it off. I felt so good in it. I was a little apprehensive about buying my dress the first trip, so the woman told me to go next door to Vera Wang and try gowns on there. I did and I found one that I really liked too, but when I went back to the Wedding Salon and tried on MY dress, I completely forgot all about the Vera and said this is IT!!!!!!!!
I went to three stores to try on wedding dresses. My dress is the third on I tried on. I loved it from the moment I put it on but I wanted to be sure it was the one SO I tried on a bunch more (maybe 20 total). I thought about it for three week then went back to the first store and ordered my dress.
The pictures will not post- I will put them in an album.

I went to two other places, and got my dress at Paradise. I also went to Kleinfelds, iman, and another one in nassau county (forgot name) with my bm to look for her, but I did some looking on my own as well!
I went to paradise with my mom and fmil, and i knew it was my dress when i came out and they both started to cry.
I wish i had a pic...when i go back im going to try and take one, can't find one online!

I've only visited 2 stores, and this was the second dress I tried on....I guess I just had that feeling and so did my bridesmaid, who is also one of my best friends. I feel like it was made for me and I did not want to take it off. So far I have not seen any other dress that I love for me as much as this one.
I went to 7 stores and tried on probably 50 dresses. It started off really bad. I had a horrible experience at Bridal Reflections. Not because they weren't nice and the place wasn't lovely, just the lady did not listen to me. I kept telling her I am short waisted and she kept bringing long waisted dresses. I was in tears until later that night at Angels in Islip when I found a great dress. Once I was comfortable knowing I would have a great dress, I enjoyed looking a lot more and went in search of a Tomasina and a Justin Alexander dress I loved. I tried both on, but fell in love at Pronovias, not only with the dress but with the place. I am so incredibly excited about my dress.

I went to 4 stores and tried on 15-20 dresses. Honestly I picked my dress because it was so flattering. if I dont lose a pound between now and Sept I will still look and feel pretty!

Kleinfeld was the first store i went to because i had heard about their huge selection of gowns. It was the very last dress i tried on (out of about 10) It was the style i had wanted but almost told the sales girl not to bring it because it sounded too much like another kenneth pool gown a friend of mine is wearing a month before me.... when i saw it i knew right away it was it and didn't want to take it off! I bought it then and there i knew my search was over!
Prob like 30 dresses went to wedding salon of manhassett, priscilla of boston, klienfelds.. i really loved all the gowns ... but when i saw emomma17 an 08 brides gown i was drooling .. the second i put it on i was like DONE !!! i tried on 20 more after that just to make sure bc i had so much time... but alvina valenta won

Re: QOTD 2/9/09
I saw a dress like mine online, when I went to try on dresses they showed me this one bc it was close to the one I had a picture of. It was the 3rd dress I tried on at the first place I went to. I tried on a couple others after but wanted no part of them.
I tried on a bunch of dresses.. well actually only like 7..but then I put mine on and I did NOT want to take it off.. It was everything I had dreamed of. I wanted a plain white dress and also wanted it to be somewhat sexy. I didn't want any lace or beads. I just knew when I put it on I wanted it. It was my first shopping trip too, I put a deposit down that day.
Here is a pic. I got it in Ivory Silk though, not the brocade fabric (however you spell that)
I picked my dress on a re-selection (yes, I switched my dress order, as many of you remember). Why did I pick this dress? It was the most 'me', and it was very red carpet, everything I wanted to be on my wedding day..A week later I found out that proceeds from my dress went to the Breast Cancer Research Fund; my mom is in remission 8 years-so it really was meant to be! Plus it's blush (pink)!!
How many stores?
I visited only 1 store, a total of 4 times (including the re select). I knew Wedding Salon was who I wanted to do business with.
