Here's a multi part question today about our venues!

How many venues did you visit when searching for your wedding?

What were you looking for in a venue?

What made you decide on your reception hall?

Is there anything you don't like about it?

I only looked at 3 venues (in person) during my search. I really wanted to do something out east, but all of the places were over budget. I visited Timber Point with my sister, and fell in love, but the low ceilings just bothered me too much. The grounds were beautiful though. FH didn't go with me, but he didn't love Timber Point as much as I did.

Together we visited Snapper Inn, and loved the Pavilion. But it was pretty pricey and a little far for us.

My #1 criteria in choosing a venue was that it couldn't have carpet. Why do all reception halls have crazy carpets?! I'm sure I would have gotten over it had I fallen in love with a venue that had carpet, but it was one of my deciding factors! I also had a hard time deciding what type of feel I wanted for my wedding. I was between casual/rustic and more of an elegant look. FH wanted to go more elegant, so that's what we're are going for!

We fell in love with the ballroom at Lombardi's, especially the chandeliers and that it is on the water. The food is also awesome! I do have a few hesitations about it...mainly that it is small. I originally wanted to keep the wedding small but now that I have really gone through the guest list, I don't see how that is possible! We do have a LOT of people traveling and it's a Friday, so that should help trim the guest list a bit. I'm also not crazy about how the outside of the building looks or the lack of landscaping, but we are getting married in a church so will be able to stop along the way for photos elsewhere. The patio on the water is still gorgeous and will make for some nice photos :)

After seeing so many of your girls' venues out in western Suffolk/Nassau, I do have quite a bit of venue envy! Some places are just so grand and gorgeous!!!

We only looked at venues that were attached or had a hotel right next door. We physically looked at 5 different venues. I did a lot of research online and had pretty much narrowed it down by pictures. I knew that the first venue we looked at would be it, but FH insisted on us looking at more. :)

We looked at 9 venues before narrowing it down to two and revisiting them both with our parents. We weren't sure what we were looking for until we found venues we loved and started to compare all the others to them. I, too, am very anti-carpet. It smells most of the time, they never replace it as often as they should, and i just don't like they look. We actually booked our venue today! We chose Fox Hollow because we loved everything about it. We are in the garden terrace room, with all wood floors, we have an indoor/outdoor cocktail hour, beautiful gardens to take photos in, and everything we ever could have wanted. It's so private despite the fact that there will be two weddings in the building and I have no fear of seeing another bride. I cannot wait! Only 888 days to go! The only thing we didn't like was that we had to guarantee 25 more people than the alternate place, but we decided it was worth the extra cost and my grandparents decided to help us out so the decision wasn't about money :)

ETA: AND my parents were married there 27 years ago :)

We visited about 10 venues, but FH was only able to come to a few of them bc of his work schedule. We really didn't know what we wanted or what we were looking for until we started comparing venues which made us realize we really wanted a one event at a time venue. We chose timberpoint because we loved the service we received from Miriam and have continued to receive, and they just redid the floors in the ballroom and the cocktail hour room. It fit our personalities a little better then a big banquet hall.

We visited 3 in person...Coindre Hall, Chateau Briand, and Insignia. I feel like I looked at all of them online but those 3 stood out to me the most. We just booked Coindre Hall yesterday and I'm so excited!
