~*~*~*QOTD 4/7/13*~*~*~

My last QOTD! I can't believe how fast this week flew by! I hope all you ladies enjoyed my questions, so here goes:

Have any of you encountered someone who assumed they would be in your bridal party? Or someone who assumed they would be invited?

I haven't had any bridal party assumptions yet but my best friend who just got engaged did. She said that a friend of hers from college texted her after she got engaged and said 'You better not put me in an ugly dress!' and she said she was thinking 'I don't wanna put you in ANY dress!'

I did have someone assume they would be invited though. I had written on my Dad's facebook and told him that I had completed the room block at the Hilton Garden Inn (he's obsessed with hilton honors points) and one of his friends commented on it and said 'woohoo road trip!!' I was thinking '............' uhhh him and my dad aren't that close and I wasn't really thinking he would be on the guest list but oh well, the more the merrier I guess!

I haven't had anyone assume they were going to be in the bridal party... but I can't believe how tacky and how rude people are assuming they are invited to the wedding! I have had texts/facebook posts come in from people from high school that I was barely friends with or barely talk to anymore... saying 'uhmm... I better get an invite'. I was like... 'uh..... ' Some of them I didn't even respond to! Some people are telling my MOM that they expect an invite!!!

I have- my cousin was married in 2011 and I was in her bridal party (but she had a HUGE one- 22 people!!!) So when I got engaged, she naturally assumed since I was in hers, that she would be in mine. I'm only have my sister as my MOH, 2 FSILs and my best friend as my BMs. She keeps asking when we're going to look at dresses, so I have to tell her soon. I already know its not going to go well, she's a very dramatic and vindictive person so I'm dreading this talk with her!

I haven't encountered this. I don't think anyone thought they would be in the bridal party that I didn't ask. As for guests, I am sure there will be some people who are assuming they will be invited. Oh well!

I actually haven't! I don't think there is going to be anyone who expects to be invited who won't be and I have a very small 'inner circle' so it wasn't like I had 100 people that would potentially feel left out.

I haven't had anyone assume they were in the bridal party but I've had plenty of people assume they were invited to the wedding. Let then assume, they still aren't invited. I have people I want to invite and can't. I'm not inviting anyone I don't want.

I did, my cousin who I had no intention of putting in my party at all. Once all of my BMs got their cards asking to be in, my other cousin asked why I didn't send one to our cousin Marianna.
In fact, this cousin who contacted me, denied being in the party because the other cousin was not included. She hoped that if she dropped out, I would then include the other cousin. So insane!

I've had friends who assumed they would be in my bridal party long before we even got engaged. Since a wedding wasn't even in my thoughts at the time, I just kind of went with it, not realizing I'd be perpetuating the thought. So one of my friends got kind of offended when she found out I wasn't going to have her in my bridal party. :-/ But I wanted to keep it as small as possible, so I asked the girls who I am the very closest with. I can't please everyone.

I actually have that problem. I am planning on asking my BM's very soon and am afraid of a particular friends reaction when she is not asked. She calls me her BF even though we don't hang out that often! She has made several inclusive comments surrounding my wedding & have no idea how to break it to her that she is not going to be in the bridal party.

My cousin (who was always going to be a BM) went around telling people 'I'm going to be a maid of honor!!' when I got engaged!! She's very self centered a lot of the time, and didnt even say 'my cousin got engaged, I'll probably be in the wedding party'. It really bothered me, so I had to sit down with her and tell her to stop being such a selfish cad (in the nicest way possible lol). Then I waited 3 weeks longer than the rest of my BMs to ask her, just to keep her on the edge of her seat a little. Lol

I'm sure there are lots of people who think they're going to be invited. I didn't invite some people from work to my engagement party and some of them got super insulted. But I work in a restaurant where not everyone works the same days, and there are some people who, bc we don't work the same days, I didn't feel close enough to invite.

People are ridiculous. Lol

I haven't had anyone assume they were in the bridal party, but on facebook I have had people say 'I will be waiting for my invite' meanwhile, they didn't even make it to my 'C' list of invitees.

Yeah....I have this friend...or shall I say HAD...I've spoken about her here anew times. We were super close forever then she got married and she got weird and distant, not happy with life. She just had a kid, forced myself to the shower and hospital to try to be the better person, cooked them dinner when they got home from the hospital, didn't hear from her since. Just found out I wasn't invited to the baptism, FH tells me it's absolutely bc I didn't ask her to be a BM, but guess what? I want the bridal party to be people who I know that in the future they'll still be there...I was hurt, then mad, now m just whatever, I don't need her, FH says really what are you losing? Nothing....

I've had 2 friends who have assumed (or made comments to suggest) that they would be in my wedding party. The one friend has said it multiple times over the last few years and I always combatted with 'well... I have 3 sister.. so...'.

Then my second friend right after we got engaged we hung out and she was ranting about someones bridal party she had been in and she said she would never want to be in someones wedding every again. Then she paused and was like 'well except for yours...'. It was an awkward moment since I knew I wasn't asking her.

I haven't had any friends come out directly and say 'am I in your bridal party', but I think that 2 of them were thinking they would be included.

No one has come out asking for an invitation though. However I have a feeling that FFIL is going to invite people via word of mouth to our wedding. I told FH that he has to handle that!
