QOTD 4/19/12

Good Morning Ladies...

My question of the day is simple today..

How did you pick your centerpieces and what are they??

For me, I know that I am not a huge flower person, so we knew from the begining that flowers were out. I love the look of the feathers, it brings in a whimsical look.. So we decided to go with feathers with some branches with hanging crystals and candles!!

I didn't want to spend a ton of money on CP's so I looked for inexpensive, seasonal flowers and chose the CP's that way.

I love that idea! Feathers are so pretty! I fell in love with the way submerged centerpieces look. Doing 4 cylindrical vases at each table each with different types of purple and green flowers in it. Also doing them myself! Was a lot of work but I love the way that they have come out so far!

I wanted something different and I stumbled across underwater CP's and thought it was so unique.

I knew I wanted low cp's and as long as they are purple I'm happy. My florist whipped up something while I was there that fit my vision perfectly!

I haven't really picked mine out yet. But I know that it would be a simple low arrangement and whatever flowers are available that season. It's one aspect of the wedding that I'm not too fussy about.

I wanted to do diy non-floral centerpieces originally since I don't like the idea of spending tons of money on flowers that will just die.
I had to nix that idea because the logistics of having someone set it up for me would be too much to ask of anyone, and I don't think anyone was keen on that idea!

I ended up searching the internet looking at thousands and thousands of centerpieces literally. I wanted something very simple and nice, and maybe rustic. saved the ones that were somewhat interesting to me in some aspect, like flower type or color.

then made my fiance go through with me through the hundreds of photos till there was something that we both loved.
I had ONE in mind, but didn't say to him, and he picked it out too!!!!!!
we went to different florists, got different ideas from them, changed our minds when the suggested new things, and ummed and arred a bit.

In the end, after all that we went back to that one photo and decided that was it. We wanted that exactly. no more messing around and getting all confused and changing ideas based on what florists said.

I brought out my dad's stanley measuring tape out at the food tasting and measured the table and exact measurements of what I wanted the centerpieces to be. Taking into account the plates, water jugs, etc etc on the table.

I'm so glad. I think the other bride at the table thought I was nuts when I whipped it out. OR she wanted my measurements... hey , she never asked so oh well! Have fun trying to guess what size would fit nicely!

I did not want to spend a ton of money for flowers that would die soon after the wedding. So, a friend of mine's mother is making ours -- it's a spring floral wreath, surrounding a wine bottle with the table # coming out of the top. I love the way they came out! whoever gets to take it, has a wreath they can keep. Plus, I saved ALOT of money.

My centerpieces are provided by the RH. Small simple vase with roses on the table. I don't really care about the flowers that much so the decision was basically made for me.

Were having a fall theme and it was fhs idea to do pumpkins...first we were carving, then etching..and I finally decided let's just drill holes all around for a polka dot look...i figured it would keep it simole but elegant..and not as time consuming...were gonna put a little thing of water in it with a floating candle in he pumpkin so we get a lot of light out of it...and around the pumpkins were doing leaves and votives

I don't know ish about flowers so we went with the submerged flowers in cylinders. They will be unlighted from below so it will look awesome.

I just knew we didn't want huge centerpieces where the guests couldn't see across the table. I saw submerged centerpieces early on in planning and it stuck with me. When I booked my florist, they showed what it would look like and FH and I both loved it. Easy pick!

My centerpieces were 100% a budget decision. Flowers aren't that important to me, so we set a budget and told all the florists we met with to give us ideas to stay within that budget. Oh, and we didn't want anything that would prevent people across the table from taking to each other!
