QOTD 5-21-10

What was the best gift received from your FH/DH? (plz no engagement rings)

The best gift that I received was last year: he planned a trip to San Diego for my birth day. For once I did not have to do any planning-just pack and show up and enjoy the trip. As for all of our vacations I would have to plan everything.. so this is the best gift ever :)

Hmmm...its hard to pick one thing - but definitely a mini-trip at a wonderful B&B up in VT complete with a spa treatment...he knoew how stressed I was at the time and it was so incredibly sweet!

The other was just last night...(its funny on the timing of the question)...was the extra key to his car (a Porsche - his baby and his pride and friggin joy). He wrapped it up and gave it to me last night and said 'here honey, its your to drive to so take it whenever you want' I was floored - I never even would have thought in a million years he would have given me a key to that car!

He is a planner, so the trips we've taken are amazing, especially the one to Maine for a 6 day cruise aboard a 125 year old schooner...where we really fell in love.

But the one 'gift' he gave me that really stands out is a book. We met online and had all the long emails and phone conversations until the wee hours of the morning sharing so much about ourselves.

After a few days of this we decided to meet for dinner. When we sat down at our table, he gave me an advanced copy of a book by an author he knew I loved.

I was so overwhelmed that a guy had really heard what I said and acted upon it. I still think it may have been the most thoughtful gift I've ever received.

ddefinately the first bday i celebrated w him! i was 25 and we'd only been dating 5 months

he planned a surprise party for me at one of my fave restaurants and even coordinated that my out of town friends came up!

i was totally speechless

and then the next day he also gave me a gift - a beautiful tri-colored gold (LOVE tri-colored gold things) bracelet. my bracelet recently broke in september, so i was kind of hinting at a bracelet. so it showed he could definately pick up hints

I dont mean to sound corny but the best gift FH gave me was staying with me when I was going through my battle with Cancer and undergoing chemo therapy. He loved me eventhough I looked and felt horrible. We were only together a little over a year at that point. He was amazing thru everything.
A tangible gift that FH gave me that I love is my three heart necklace that represents our past because we were friends in high school, our present, and our future. I love that necklace.

I met DH the first day I moved to Ohio. I mentioned to him when I was unpacking one day that I lost an autographed copy of a book that meant a lot to me during my move here. This was during a time when I HATED grad school (like everyone does in the beginning, haha), and I was pretty upset already. He did some detective work and found the author's personal e-mail address and phone number...the author wrote me a page-long note in a copy of his book about how grad school is rough for everyone in the beginning, and to stick with what I love. DH only knew me for a few weeks at that point...he's pretty much the best.
