QOTD!!

QOTD!!

' The female and the male
are partners on a journey of spiritual growth.
They want to make the journey.
Their love and trust keep them together.
Their intuition guides them. They consult with each other.
They are friends. They laugh a lot. They are equals. '

Spirituality and marriage. I know for most of us they go hand in hand. Religion is a big part of most of our lives. How we will depend upon our faith in certain times remains to be seen. I know I thank the big guy upstairs everday for my FH, my family & my wonderful friends. I even throw LIW in there once in awhile! lol lol I guess what im trying to ask you all is:

How does religion play a part in your realtionship? Are you active members? Or the holidays only type or not into religion at all?

Re: QOTD!!

For me it is all about the holidays because my mother is Jewish and my father is Christian. I would go to temple and church for holidays and we would celebrate every holiday in our home. I have some idea of both religions, but was not in a religious home because I was exposed to both as a part of my culture, not something to be a devote follower of. I feel this helped shape my life in a positive way as to be open to different ideas. FH was also exposed to both Judaism and Catholicism.

I have just the opposite of you...mom catholic and dad jewish. But I was raised catholic and celebrated both holidays.

My FH and I were raised as devout Catholics, but right now all we do is celebrate the holidays with our families. We both have alot of faith in God, but we do not condone organized religion.

We're getting married in a church bc FH really wanted it... I would have been ok with getting married at the RH. But now that we’ve met the priest and visited my church again I’m happy he was able to convince me.

My priest even said to us, “I’m not even going to ask you if you go to church. I know people your age don’t go to church. But it’s my job to try to get you to come back.”

I am Catholic and FH is Christian. His grandmother is a minister but we do not attend church. Kind of po'd with the CC, it's all about money . But I intend to raise my children Catholic. Ya never know how important religion is to you until it comes up between two people who aren't the same religion! (it's not a huge difference but it has been something we've been discussing)

We are very religious! We go to church every Sunday and we also go to a Sunday School class on Sundays. We pray together every night, while holding each other before we go to sleep and we take turns saying grace every time we eat.

Hahaha now we sound like dorks. But seriously, our faith is very important to us and we know all too well that we wouldn't have each other, our families, our friends, our jobs, our beautiful home, if it wasn't for God, who has brought us through everything!

I am Christian and FH is Catholic. I go to church often, FH doesnt at all. I plan to raise my children Christian because that is how I was raised and it is what I know. I told FH if he wanted to take the kids to Catholic church that was okay with me too. I will let them make their own decision about religion when they are old enough to.

It's nice when you have both! Will you continue to celebrate both when you get married?

Sister...i knew we got along for a reason!!! FH and I go to church every Sunday and firmly believe that all the blessing we have including each other is b/c of God. It is very important to us to raise a family with faith.

Im not religious..but more spiritual. Like I don't know what God really is and what he or she does but i do think there's a higher power somewhere up there. FH...not so much

Re: QOTD!!

we are not very religious people...we are different religions and do not actively participate in either faith--as much as i hate to say it, i feel that after my dad died, i lost some of the little faith i did have. we are, howver, getting married at my mom's church (mine as well) due to the looser rules regarding inter-faith marriages (FH is catholic and its a little more strict...im lutheran)and we will decide where we stand when we have kids...

FH is Catholic and I'm Baptist but we're both more on the spiritual side. And attend services only on Easter…pray for us!

Re: QOTD!!

Our religious backrounds are pretty strange...
We are both Roman Catholic... but have strong religious beliefs outside of what the catholic church teaches as well...like we are more spiritual

For Example, the entire family has seen my grandfathers ghost and captured it in a picture....

Anyway... I teach in a catholic school, he works for the diocese, and his father was a priest before he married his mother...

So we do have strong religious beliefs, and we practice everyday in prayer and we do good for others etc, but we are not comfortable with our church's priests and the way they make those who do not attend church all of the time feel. Or, the guilt they put for having us not donate more money to the church.... We believe that church should be about community not guilt...

sorry had to vent!

We're not religious at all.

Long story short, we both had bad religious experiences growing up so we joined a church and converted religions just because we're getting married and wanted to give our future children something to believe in that we felt more comfortable with.

FH kind of likes it now and enjoys going, except for the fact that he thinks the parishioners think we're just using them for their church and that makes him feel a little uncomfortable. I like the church, but I'm having issues with this 'every week' kind of thing. I'm 23. I want to still be able to go out once in awhile on a Saturday and having to live around a church schedule is annoying because I constantly have to leave things early or not go out at all.

Fh and I aren't religious at all. I was brought up Episcopalian however as I got older I no longer believe in God, I just don't find the need to believe in a higher being at this point in my life.
Fh doesn't really believe in god either.
We do celebrate holidays like Christmas and Easter, but it is more of a family thing. Both his and my parents go to church and such.
The words, god, lord and jesus, will not be mentioned in our wedding ceremony at all.

Re: QOTD!!

I was raised Catholic so was FH. However, FH thinks religion is BS and calls himself an Athiest. Me? I do believe in something but wouldn't call myself religious. We are getting married in a church and may even have a mass because I always found them to be nice. FH and I agreed that we will put our kids through Sunday school so that way they learn about it and can do whatever they want with it when they are older.
