QOTD 5/29/13

Good morning! This question has to do with my experience with dress regret. When I bought my first dress, everyone said to me - How didn't you know what you wanted? Haven't you dreamt of your wedding since you were a little girl? And I realized, ever since I was little and I fantasized about one of the most magical and wonderful days of my life, I never pictured my wedding dress!

QOTD:
What have you always pictured about your wedding since you were a little girl?
How does it compare to reality?

__________

So like I said above, everyone expected because I'm so heavy into shopping and designers that I would have this dream couture dress that I was drooling over when the time came.

As far back as I can remember, all I can picture is the church. My grandparents, great aunts, parents, all got married in the same church. We originally booked with a different church in our town, but something didn't feel right. We switched to my families church and we couldn't be happier - it's so beautiful and fits into both of our European culture.

As I got into my teens, I still never pictured a dress. All I pictured was fabulous shoes! I had my heart set on Manolo Blahniks for years, but then Christian Louboutin stole my heart.

...Then my Prince Charming arrived and he was an inch taller than me, I decided to ditch the four inch heels and embrace how happy my feet will be on our wedding day in flats.

I'm not sure I really dreamed of my wedding. I more dreamed of being married, having a home and a family...lol
You know in kindergarten when they ask what you want to be when you grow up? I said wife. lol seriously. So being a wife, mother, entertaining for the family, Sunday dinners, school plays. That's what I've always dreamed of. I also dreamed I would be a part time ballerina so we'll see ; P

I can't say I dreamed about specific details of my wedding... I usually envisioned a man with a blank face at the end of the aisle waiting for me and having a strong feeling of happiness. I would say I dreamt more about being married and being a wife than the actual day! I feel like I was scared to think too much into my wedding because I was nervous it wouldn't happen after a while! hahaha Even when FH proposed everyone asked me if the ring he got me was what I wanted... truth is I never looked so I had no idea! Didn't want to jinx it! lol

I never dreamed about my dress but I knew I would be getting married at my church which is a huge cathedral so I thought it warranted a dramatic dress and train. Then as I got older and started watching wedding shows I fell in love with the look of a satin mermaid silhouette .. The dress I ended up getting is a combo of both, a satin mermaid with an extremely long dramatic train!

While I never really envisioned my wedding, when I fantasized about marrying Nick Carter from BSB (), it was always at the church I grew up attending. But I'm actually getting married in a different church, in a different county!

The only thing I ever 'pictured' was myself walking down the aisle with the veil over my face. When I tried on blushers I HATED them lol!

I used to picture the big poofy princess dress, and tiara and all that. But that's when I thought I was going to get married at 22 not 32.

I never dreamed of my wedding as a kid or growing up. I just know if I did have a wedding I wanted it to be fun and be the best time of my life. I never had a dream dress or venue.

I dreamed about marrying a hockey player & instead I am marrying a lineman for conEd. At least both visions the guy had long hair

I never had a vision of my dress per say, I just knew I wanted a blusher veil and a long train. i still haven't got my dress yet so who knows how it ends up.

I never pictured or dreamed about my wedding. But the dresses I always thought I would like I no longer do.

I never really dreamed about my wedding.. I didn't really think I would get married! I did say though, since my senior year of high school, that I wanted my prom dress in white. It was beautiful and vintage and classy! Turns out its a modern day fit n flare, and when I went dress shopping I was told that just bc it's 'in' right now doesn't mean it's what is right for my shape.. I wasn't offended by the comment about my shape but WAS a little offended about it being 'in' because even though it IS in, it's what I've dreamed about long before that happened!
Needless to say I got an A line dress. Lol

I really haven't pictured much other than having a prince charming and getting married in a church, which is very much my reality.

O M G! ME TOO. Are we the same person?! My mom was a housewife and did everything in the home and I had always admired all the things she did for us and I wanted to be just like her! Mother, wife, brownie troop leader, etc.

Pretty much exactly this! The only details I pictured were getting married in a Church (which isn't happening) and wearing the biggest, poofy princes dress I could find (also not happening) so can I dream or what??
