Happy Monday Everyone! I am very excited to the BOTW and I hope I can think of some good questions! Also I have only been part of LI Wedding for the past 5 BOTWs so I hope I don't repeat any questions : /
Question of the Day:
Whey you got Engaged, who is the first person you told, and how did you tell them? Did you call them, surprise them, show up at their house..etc.
My Answer:
Well I got engaged at my Mom's house in front of most of my family and FH's parents. So I didn't have to call any of the them! While my sisters took pictures and were about to go Facebook crazy posting them, I told them to wait because I had to call my Best Friend who lives in Virginia (my now MOH) I facetimed her because I wanted her to see the ring, and I'm glad she go the chance to be part of the engagement even though she lives out of state now.
It was just us so I called my mommy first. It was like 1030-11 at night so we just texted everyone else. I had to wait until the next morning to tell my best friend though (it was late and she has little kids). We both started crying on the phone.

I got engaged at a concert in front of fbil and some of his friends. The first thing I did was find the quietest place I could and call my mom, my cousin who is my maid of honor, and my sil. Then I sent a text to my two best friends before putting it on Facebook.
We got engaged in Newport, RI so I waited like a half hour and then I called my dad. He already knew anyway. But it was funny because it was supposed to happen the day before but FH postponed it because it was raining. So everybody back home was wondering what the heck happened when I hadn't contacted them the night before, LOL.

I called my sister first. But little did I know he had planned an engagement dinner so everyone knew it was going to happen because they were told to be at the restaurant! My office let me leave early so I got to see my parents right after :)

We got engaged right outside my house...so I ran back inside to tell my parents. My first real call was to my best friend to finally ask her to be my MOH. She used to say every 3 weeks that he was going to propose, so I'd mess with her and send her pictures of random Google'd fingers with engagement rings, so she was in shock when I actually called her and it was real.

We got engaged in front of my entire family on Christmas Eve... so we didn't need to call them! We did have to call FH's parents, but they knew it was happening! Then I called 3 of my best friends- none answered of course because it was Christmas Eve, but they all called back confused Then I sent pictures of the ring to a bunch of my other friends and it was so exciting! Calling my grandma was the funniest because she was SO excited and she lives in Florida so she had NO idea. It took up a good portion of our holiday!!

When I got engaged in Central Park, my best friend was with me, so I guess she was the first I 'told' lol- after that, I called my parents but they knew already and had invited my FH's parents over for champagne that night when we got home from the city. Then I took a pic of the ring and texted it to my sister and my bridesmaids

We got engaged on the roof of our apartment in NYC. All of our family lives on LI so we had LOTS of calls to make! The first call was to my parents. They knew about the proposal since FH asked my father permission, so they had been waiting for the call for a long time! We then called his parents, grandparents, friends, etc. It was actually super tiring!!

We got engaged at Disney World and the first call I made was to my mom. It was really early bc we had been watching the sunrise over Epcot but I didn't care, I woke up everyone in my family then everyone else found out via Facebook - so much easier!

It happened at like 11:30pm Christmas Eve. I called my Mother first and then sister who knew about it. Then my Jr. Bridesmaids, my best friend (who didn't answer) so I had to call her husband who was like HEYY MERRY CHRISTMAS NIK, and I was like um put BFF on the phone (b/c she'd go nuts if I told him first) then I called a few more friends who I knew would be awake!!

FH proposed at the Melting Pot so as soon as we left, we called his family and mine. They knew that he was going to propose so they were waiting for us to call. Then we texted all of our friends and officially updated our Facebook statuses to engaged (because you know it's not official until it's on Facebook, lol).

I didn't tell anyone. I posted a pic of my ring on facebook. My mom was pissed because she didn't find out until my sister texted her saying she was excited for us.
I honestly didn't think getting engaged was such a big deal, that I had to call anyone. My best friend was was upset too, mainly because that's how he found out I was even dating a guy!

We were on our way to a concert at the Beacon Theater when he proposed at the Hudson River Park, so I couldn't really tell anyone until the concert was over. My parents don't live in the US, but I couldn't wait, so I called my mom at like 4 am their time. They knew the proposal was happening, so turns out she was up all night waiting for my call anyway.

FH proposed to me in our apartment right after Sandy so the first people I had to call were my parents (who were the only ones who knew). When I called my sister, cousin, and friends they didn't believe me at all! It was torture!!!

FH proposed at The Library of Congress in DC (I'm a librarian) we enjoyed the rest of the day together and when we got back to our hotel I called my sister who is also my best friend. I then called just about everyone else we know, it took hours!

Great question! The night that FH and I got engaged we enjoyed the celebrations and the time for just the 2 of us. My 3 really good friends (whom all are in the bridal party) found out first(I was having lunch/bridesmaid dress shopping with 2 of them and couldn't hold in my happiness). We then went to my parents house and told my parents, followed by FH's parents house.
Once all of our extended families new, it went up on FB :)

I told my sister. We got engaged at a music festival. But I kept it a secret that way I could spring the surprise on my bridal party when I did the official asking. They all thought I was going to tell them I was pregnant when I got them all together to tell them lol.

I got engaged on Christmas! All my family were there and knew about it!! i had no clue! My FH gives me this big box...and when i unwrapped it, it was an ugg box..i was like woo hoo uggs! then i opened it and there was bunch of socks!! i was like huh? whats this?! then i saw a silver box and i was like what is this!! then hes like 'get up' (i was sitting on the couch) and then goes down in one knee and he proposed!! his Fam were on skype but my sister didn't place the laptop well so there werent able to see.. :-/
I then texted my friends and then put it up on FB!
AHHH!!! i get happy and excited when i think about it! lol

We got engaged at my front door with my parents right behind me. So they knew first but his mom knew cause she drove him over to my house and sister's knew also. His siter actually called my sister to let her know as well and unfortunately my sister just left my house so she missed it. But she was the first one I called and then the text messages and FB posts started happening. All i remeber was being in a cloud. =)
