QOTD 5/9

good morning girls!! Hope the weather is nice today: I am stuck in the ER dungeon again :O)

So the question today is:
Do you feel like your friendships with your friends will change after you get married, especially your single friends?

I don't really have many friends. I can count on one hand my friends, and have some fingers left over

So that being said, I don't think much will change, because I really don't see my friends now. My one friend lives in Brooklyn now, so I barely see her, my other friend works opposite hours from me, so more nights and weekends, so that's hard, and my other two friends I don't really see or keep as close in touch with anymore. It s/ucks.

I think they do slightly. I myself dont have many single friends, but after I had my son, they definitly did. With a husband or child, your just not as free to do things anymore as you werre before.

Unfortunately all of my friends have moved away and I'm the very last one where I live. The last one moved away in Feburary. We are moving when we get married (actually quite a bit), so I hope to gain a lot of married friends. The good news is that once we finally get to NY in Jan. I already know one good friend who will be there and she's getting married 2 weeks before us.

No I don't think so. Most of my friendships haven't changed as my friends get married. A few have and I am sure a few will , but I suspect for the most part they won't.

Kids however, kids are rapidly changing friendships.

No. I've been with FH for 10 years so I can't imagine anything changing. I barely see them as it is now since we are all so busy.

I have some friends who have already changed a bit since the engagement. Some college friends have really surprised me. Over time, things like this happen, and I'm sure that as old friendships fade, new ones will pop up in their place.

I don't think so. I have an amazing group of friends from college and we've been friends for over 10 years and not much has changed. Two couples are already married, and me and another couple are getting married this year.

I def think it WILL change after we all start having kids though!

i think i will see them all more actually. Most of my single friends are technically in serious relationships ( i consider you single if youre not married or engaged) and they all live on LI for the most part so i dont see them a lot now bc i work and live in the city. After we get married we're buying a house on LI so i KNOW i will see everyone more which makes me so happy.

It most certainly will and it has from personal experience. This particularly true if you have friends who are single/unattached relationships. Although they will occasionally call you to hang out, it will be limited to happy hour, coffee breaks, shopping, etc. This is because they noticed your lifestyle changes after you get married due to a preconceived image (to be a good housewife) that your friends may project of you. So when you have a ladies night, they have to make sure it's a lounge/bar type not a nightclub, they want to avoid confrontation btwn you and your FH for dragging you out to a club. Another big thing is you can never tell them your countless or endless stories about your married life. Truth is they will get bored to tears and get tired of hearing about the same stories--how wonderful/exciting or how crazy marriage drives you. It's great that we're experiencing this new life with our FH but unfortunately for the single gals, it will only make them feel depressed. I guess it's important to have friends that are single as well as married so you see and understand with both angles.
