QOTD 611/08

This question is for the benefit of us who are stuck in the STEP PARENT TRAP...

I myself have a dad and a stepdad and have been tossing and turning for days about how to work out the walking down the aisle thing....should my dad start and my step dad meet me halfway...should they both do it????



anyone else having step parent issues or anyone have some great ideas or suggestions!!!

Also AMEN ladies the heatwave is OVEEEERRRR!!!!

I have a similar situation but not with a stepdad with my Uncle. Who I consider my other Father. I was going to do the halfway thing as also but my officiant recommended not to because she said that I was going to leave my uncle alone halfway done the aisle.

What she did suggest that my mother walk with my uncle and they wait for me and my dad at the alter. FH will get the blessing from both uncle and dad. I think this will work out better.

Good idea...I just have to convince my mother to stand next to my father lol....maybe he can stand next to my FH and the best man and do the blessing together ...you know no one is going to be happy!!1

I am in this situation and I am MUCH closer to my step-dad than I am to my Father, but overall, my Mother is my best friend. So I am having her walk me down the aisle. I know my step-dad will understand, I am sure my Father will be bitter and make it about himself as always.

My parents are divorce I lived with my mother I visited my father on the weekend but ultimately I feel more close to my mother. MY father and I have a good relationship but I think my mom deserve more credit. I was thinking about giving the first dance to her.

I was considering splitting the walk down the aisle but then I realized I wouldn't have anyone to walk my mother down the aisle so my only my dad will be walking me in. If I was going to split it up I was going to have my stepfather walk me down first and then my dad meet me half way so that he is the one that gives me away.

Now my issue is the walk in at the reception. Not only do I have a stepfather but FH has a stepmother (and his parents aren't on good terms). I really don't know how to work that out

I say let them all walk in a dysfunctional group!!! I considered doing this bc they are the ones that put us in this situation and they could walk into the Sopranos theme just to really catch the essence of the drama!!!
Oddly enough my fam is so theatrical they actually thought the idea was funny!!

I have a dad and a step dad and I am going to have them both walk me down the aisle....the whole way. I would rather have just my step dad, but I guess I can't do that.....

i am having my mom walk me to my dad... kin dof like birth ur mom has u then she gives u to ur dad and then my dad to fh... so everyone has the spotlight and feels like they had their moment with u

I am in that situation and my mom is in a wheelchair I am having everyone walk me down the aisle mom, stepdad, dad and stepmom ...talk about dysfunctional.. i am a train wreck

I'm having my mom and dad walk me down the aisle

as far as announcements go FH's parents are divorced so we will see how that goes

i dont have a step parent issue but i am trying to decide on whether i will have both my mom and dad or just my dad. i am extremely close to my mom and would love for her to walk me down the aisle but my dad is so out of the loop (in terms of the planning...very much in the loop for $$ ) that this would be basically his only involvement.
