QOTD 6/13

So its friday the 13th, in keeping with that theme...
Do you feel that you have to follow tradition and old wives tales to help your marriage succeed? Is there anything you feel would 'jinx' your marraige if it were/werent to happen?

I had always thought I wouldn't see FH until I walked down the aisle, but we are doing photos before the ceremony. Other than that, I know I will be doing the something old, new, borrowed and blue, but I don't think anything would 'jinx' the marriage if it didn't happen.

I'm not a believer in superstitions; I'm wearing black with my dress.

We are however, NOT going to see each other before the wedding. I'm probably sleeping over my father's house the night before. It's not for fear of bad luck, its just our choice.

I dont want to see FH before the wedding, I will be doing the something old, new borrowed, blue thing. I am weird, I do kinda believe in the superstitions a litlle bit...not like crazy we are going to die if we dont, i just believe in them more so out of tradition than anything...

I forgot----I'm doing the something old, something new...... too. My cousin (one of my BMs) is crocheting me a black garter with blue ribbon in it!

I don't personally feel that I have to follow the traditions, but I think to keep our families happy we will follow certain traditions. Like I don't think his family would be too happy if were to see each other before the ceremony or not be in separate houses the night before. My family is very non-traditional and could really care less. His family is very traditional and the fact that we are not getting married in a church i think is killing his mother-but so far she is acting like it is ok

I merely suggested to FH that maybe we should possibly consider photos before the church... Not happening.

We are also getting married in a church. My mom is big on it. So is FH although he was never confirmed.

The rest of it? I'm not so much superstitious as I am traditional, but I won't let anyone else try on my engagement ring, it's bad luck

I never knew that you weren't allowed to use engagement gifts and bridal shower gifts until after the marriage b/c its bad luck. My mother told me this after I told her I was gonna use some money for the honeymoon.

I dont think Im a believer in superstitions...We probably arent going to see one another till the chuch...I am sort of traditional...we are getting married in a church, and I am going to to the somthing old, new, borrowed, and blue thing..but I think thats all!

that makes 2 of us, i never knew you couldnt use the gifts. we are planning on using engagement gift money to put towards our RH

I'm such a believer in superstistions. Its REALLY bad. Im constantly yelling at people to take their shoes off the table, and throw salt over their shoulder when it spills. I have issues with superstitions So I'll definatly be keeping to the old traditions, because I'm crazy like that!

I'm semi-traditional but I love adding my own flair to things. But more than anything, I'm super practical. On the day of the wedding I will be seeing my FH before the ceremony in order to take pictures. To me, enjoying the cocktail hour and as much time with our guest is extremely important. I've been to a wedding where the bride was unable to really enjoy herself because she was being pulled for formal shots every 5 minutes. I barely had time to see her up close. I'm willing to break tradition to keep things running smoothly and most importantly, take part on a day I spent yearrrrs planning!
