Last night's dress shopping experience was amazing...my consultant was fantastic, I had a great time with my mom and sister, and best of all- I felt like I was glowing the whole time. It made me wonder...
How was your first dress shopping experience?
Who did you bring? Did the 'Bride' thing finally sink in? Any funny stories? Did mom cry? We want the details!

well the first time I went to try on any kind of dress was at David's Bridal and it was purely to play dress - not actual dress shopping LOL. I had sooooo much time before I needed to start getting serious about dress shopping but I was itching to try on a dress so I brought along one of my MOHs and a friend of ours and went to the DB in Queens. The lady that helped me (can't remember her name) was very sweet and patient and let me try on as many dresses as I wanted. I told her straight off that it was my first time shopping and I was really just trying to find what styles suited me and I had no intention of buying today and she was perfectly fine with that.
Pretty much, my first dress shopping experience was a mini fashion show LOL
EDIT: And my MOH was going crazy trying on head pieces and veils... and yes people I am grabbing her boob in that pic... like I said, this was a serious shopping experience LOL
I only went once and it was great. I had nightmares the evening before and was terried about it. As a bigger girl I never thought I would be able to see a dress on me and then wouldn't get a good idea of what i wanted.
But that was totally not the case - i tried on like 10 dresses and all but 1 fit me and i was able to feel like a bride.
Mom didnt cry - but grandma did. My mom, aunt, cousin and grandma came with me and it was a great day.
I got my dress that day and I'm so excited for when it arrives

when i first went dress shopping, my mom and dad went with me as well as my Sister who is my MOH. they didn't cry when i found the one, but they were really happy and told me it looked great. i wasn't one of those brides that cried or had that 'this is it!' moment. i just kinda knew.
there were a couple of timed when i went to some bridal salons in NJ who let you try on anything you wanted but you had to try it on yourself, without the help of any bridal consultants. so my mom and sister assumed the position and we had a barrel of laughs getting into and out of dresses!

I only went once. My mom lives in IL and came in for a visit so of course I wanted her to be a part of it, I never expected to find my dress so early! I had a GREAT time! It was me, my mom and my fathers mom. My parents are divorced so they hadn't seen each other in a while. We had SO MUCH fun!! We tried on every style for fun! My mom did cry, about 2-3 times lol. The second dress I tried on I knew the second I put it on it was the one!! I walked around the store for like an hour with it on bc i didnt want to take it off hahahah :)

Last night was amazing...seriously more than I could have imagined.
Danielle, my consultant, was such a sweetheart and it turned out we had A LOT in common. She got married at the Vineyards about a year ago, she used the same sort of centerpieces I want to use, she lives up the block from me...and we just seemed to be on the same wavelength.
She also took a lot of time in the beginning to talk to me and get me into 'bride mode.' She told me on the day of my wedding, it's going to be just Dru and I...everyone else will fade into the background, and as I'm standing at the alter, all I'll see is him. It made me get all teary-eyed and I think that's when it hit me...I'm seriously getting married! That moment was priceless for me.
After 'my moment' (lol), I showed her pictures of styles I like and she immediately 'got me.' All of the dresses she pulled had Kerri written all over it. 2 hours flew by and before we knew it, they were shutting down the store around us.
At the end of the night, I was so confused about what style I liked because she wound up putting me in some dresses I would have never considered, but I wound up loving!
I'm going back on Monday for Part 2!

My first experience was amazing!!! I found a bm dress online that I loved so I called a few places to see if they had it in stock and ended up making at appointment at Lillette's so I could see it in person. I took my bff, moh and mom to see the dress and they loved it! We were done with the bm dress in like 10 mins and the lady had put a half hour aside for our appt so I decided to try on wedding gowns. The first one I tried on was the one!!! I tried on like 10 more gowns just to make sure but I went back to the first one!!!
ETA- Mom cried! So did bff and moh!!! I didn't - I was just really excited! I didn't wanna take the dress off. Lol

I only went to 3 different stores, all the expierences were fun! The first time I was with my other friend who was looking at wedding dresses, I saw one I liked and tried it on...2nd time I was with my mom, she came with me to the store to pick up my BM dress for another friends wedding and wanted me to try a dress on she saw LoL.. we loved it but I wasn't planning our wedding then so I just wrote the style number down..Third trip was with my Gawf (LaBellaVita) we Had a blast tried on a few diff dresses and thought I found one that I would want to buy until I went for another trip and found the one!!!!!!! <3 I was there with My Best Friend and My Mom... I came out of the dressing room and my face lit up I was glowing and I did NOT wanna take the dress off!!! haha! I had it on for like an hour! My Mom and best friend were both crying.. Needless to say the dress was purchased on spot haha!
