Last night's dress shopping experience was amazing...my consultant was fantastic, I had a great time with my mom and sister, and best of all- I felt like I was glowing the whole time. It made me wonder...
How was your first dress shopping experience?
Who did you bring? Did the 'Bride' thing finally sink in? Any funny stories? Did mom cry? We want the details!

my first experience was horrible... they ruined my life lol .. ok maybe im exaggerating but it wasnt good..
oh no! what happened??
Oh nothing much..bridesmaid got kicked out the store by a old nasty hag for eating a piece of candy .. she was hungry so she put amint in her mouth and the lady is like go outside you cant eat in here.. HELLOOOOOO ITS A MINT RELAX... no one was helping me look for dresses everyone was rude... when i was finished trying on dresses.. My bm's were trying on dresses in the room that I was in.. the old lady came and said 'WHY ARE THEY TRYING ON DRESSES IN HERE THEYRE BRIDESMAIDS?' just wasnt worth the trip to me. It took me a while to look for dresses after that lol
Could you tell us which place that happened at? I'd like to avoid that happening to me...

The first time I went to David's.
It was fun, but tiring. The sales girl I had was a sweatheart and was really helpful.
However, the manager kept coming over and being pushy, pulling dresses that were NOTHING like I wanted.
Toward the end of the appointment she was pressuring us to buy a dress, and I basically said 'No' flat out.
She was very rude!
Aside from that, my Mom did cry and I got a lot of ideas about what I wanted and what I didn't.
I still haven't found the one, but I'm hoping that my third trip will be the final one!

My dress experience was absolutely amazing from start to finish. I couldn't have dreamed a better day.
I had made an appt in Dec for a Jim Hjelm Trunk Show in Feb!! I wanted to make sure I got a good appt. I got the first so I would have all the time I needed or wanted.
I went with my Mom, both my grandma's and 2 friends. When we got there the consultant took us upstairs to where all the dresses are and told us to have fun and pull whatever we wanted. I showed her some pics and she pulled things as well.
I tried on so many dresses and there was no mirror in the dressing room, only out in the mail room where the pedestal was.
When I put on my dress and came out of the room everyone I was with gasped. I looked at myself and had chills and tears. My mom started to cry, then my grandma's, the the mother of the other girl that was there trying on dresses!!!
It was the dress. I tried on the rest, but nothing compared.
Best day of this whole experience thus far. It was amazing to have them all there.

It was veterans day and my mom was off, so I decided hey why not go to paradise. I called them up and they said I could come in. So my mom and I went to paradise and were helped by Vivian. Vivian is such an amazing consultant, who really listen to what I wanted and ensured I was happy. So I told Vivian I was looking for a pale pink dress and I wanted pick ups!!!!!!!! OMG, that pick up style looked horrible on me and the pink was not what I expected. So then I tried on some Maggie dresses I saw, didn't flatter me either. All of a sudden my mom sees a dress on the manikin there and says, why don't you try that one. I was hesitant, it wasn't what I imagined myself, but I tried it on anyway. This dress looked so amazing on me, I was wearing the dress, it wasn't wearing me!!!! It flattered everything it had a dropped waist for my curves it came up just high enough so that my boobs weren't heaving out and it was so light and comfy!!!!! Well I stared at myself for like an hour cause I couldn't believe I was the one in the wedding gown and I was the one getting married!!!!! The day I picked my dress was amazing and finally told me this is for real!!!!!!

Re: *~*~*QOTD 6/24/10*~*~*
The first place i went to i went with my MOH, BM's and FG. My mom couldnt go but if i found anything I liked she would have come back with me. Well we walk in and the consultant I have tells me ok go and look and pull out any of the dresses you want to try on. So here are me and my BM's pulling dresses off the rack and hanging them so the consultant can put them in the room. Then I go to try them on. The consultant doesn't help me in and out of the dresses so one of my BM's helps me. So I come out in the first dress nothing special. So I keep trying on the dresses with my BM helping me and the girls are taking pictures to show my mom. My consultant didnt say anything about the pictures until one of the other woman told us we couldnt take pictures. FSIL was there and she was pissed at the way the appointment was going as well they were not helpful at all. Even if I did find my dress there I wouldnt have gone back.
The other places i went were so much better! I had a much better experience at all the other bridal salons

my first dress shopping experience was at david's bridal and i was mildly hungover. i stayed over at FH's house that night and I told my mom and younger sister to meet me there - who of course came on filipino time...aka 30 min late! it was so much fun though! i found 2 dresses that i really liked but i'm glad that i didn't buy them, cuz i think my mom was about to buy it, otherwise i wouldn't have the dress that i have right now! i can't wait to start looking for my second dress and relive the excitement!!!
oh and my mom's super unemotional so she was more like just standing there. if fh's mom was there, she totally would've cried! i love her!

Re: *~*~*QOTD 6/24/10*~*~*
I went with my mom when she was visiting when I lived in Oregon (no sales tax! ever. woooo!). We went to 2 bridal salons, and I found 2 dresses I liked. Then we went to Davids Bridal and I found two more dresses that I liked even better. My mom liked one more than the other, but I didn't like it as much. She teared up a little, but she couldn't convince me. I liked the other one so much better. So I ended up buying the one I loved, and now every time I try it on in front of her she says that its 'so me'. I love it.

Re: *~*~*QOTD 6/24/10*~*~*
well oddly enough I think the first dress I ever tried on was my dress, I went to an enzoani trunk show and i told the lady which dress i really wanted so she suggested i try a few on before it, it was nothing like i envisioned and i quickly eliminated the dress i thought I wanted, and from then on nothing compared to the first dress, i seriously considered buying it, it was a great price because of the trunk show, but i ended up walking away since it was the first time i went dress shopping, and of course like 3 months later I went back and bought it!
I only went with my mother, personally i dont want anyone else's opinion, i have good taste and i didn't want to hear someone say ehhh about my dream dress!
