Ok ladies! Went to a bridal showcase last night and won a free wedding dress from the wedding center! I already have my dress but it feels good to be a winner :)
On a heavier note, for the QOTD, are an of you ladies concerned about 100-300 people in the same room getting along for your big day? Divorced parents, hostile or embarassing family members, or perhaps a groomsman and bridesmaid that were and no longer are! Are any of you ladies expecting uncomforatble moments or drama on the big day? Or is there a certain person you will be having your MOH watching all night to make sure they stay in the background??
My mom is divorced twice! ay yi yi.. my father probably won't even be there (which isn't the end of the world) but I'm hoping my stepfather comes with his family but they may not either due to terrible divorce drama involving my wonderful mother again. (I do love her like any daughter loves their mother but I can't say I stand behind all her choices in life) So I will definitely be watching to make sure my guests are comfortable (should they all show up) NOW my mother isn't speaking to her brother (my only uncle, we have such a small family!) and I'm expecting that to be really hard.. They're going to just HAVE to get it together by then because I don't want anyone at my wedding hiding in corners or avoiding the bar just because of another person.
As far as watching people, I will be watching FFIL! He loves to have a good time and I want to make sure he's not hanging on people all night because of too many drinks.. He is older and set in his ways but I have this projection of me being at the alter and FFIL next to me taking a picture of our first kiss, but basically being in my mouth with the camera. Needless to say I will be advising FH to tell FFIL to keep his camera at home, that's why we're paying thousands of dollars for a photographer!
ALL I know is anyone who creates drama or steps on my dress is getting the boot! :)
*PS.. if I dwell on all the things I can picture FFIL doing I literally get anxiety!!

Congrats on the free dress!! How do I even begin with this question? Well, FH has a mother, a stepmother and a father. FMIL is an evil conniving b**** and can't for whatever reason get along with anyone.. especially FH's stepmother. After saying that, FH is closer with his stepmom and dad AND they're contributing to the wedding whereas FMIL is not... at all. Also, my future stepson's mother is not the greatest but will probably only agree to allow FH's son to come if she comes too (definition of drama right there). Also, my grandma has dementia and won't admit to it and, therefore, makes absolutely no effort to control herself. Every time we go out somewhere, she inevitably winds up on some stranger's lap or talks about how cute they are or about sex. So, I will not just have MOH watching her like a hawk but also my mom, dad, cousins, aunt, uncle, everyone will be watching her. Last, one of FH's groomsmen likes to drink to the point of oblivion and pass out. I actually debated not having an open bar because of the way he gets and how much it upsets FH but since it's a wedding, I decided I just couldn't do that. So, just like everyone will be watching my grandma, everyone will also be watching him. And, he and my grandma will not come near each other because it's enough that they cause their own dramas, I don't need them teaming up and causing some.

When I first read this post, I said 'There won't be any drama' lmao, then I remembered how certain people can act when they are drunk. My father, uncle, F(step)FIL, my cousins all enjoy drinking. My father gets drunk and can become an *** before it's no hold bars with his mouth. He also likes to give long 'lectures' about family, how much he loves me, etc. when he gets drunk. My FFIL from what I've heard likes to give speeches and has been known to make speeches at random people's events and I don't think that's even when he's under the influence lol. It should be interesting. They better just keep it civilized and not embarrass me or FH too much.
My FFIL sounds like your FFIL and father combined! He will NOT be making any speeches because FFIL would probably end up crying during it and I'd be rolling my eyes in the corner!! LOL even though I'm sure it won't be the case because our DJ has strict instruction not to take any song requets and not to let anyone take the mic except for me and FH and the BM and MOH for their speeches.

I don't expect much drama. My mom has a bit of a drinking problem and its pretty embarrassing but I'm going to tell the bar staff to water down her drinks specifically.. And my family has a short fuse so I was originally nervous about drama in the day of (ex.. Me getting overwhelmed and asking my sister who is my MOH to do something and her flipping out) like in the bridal suite getting ready but getting a DOC made me feel a bit better about that!

Yeah this too except its my brother. Hes fine when he drinks beer or wine but when he drinks hard liquor he get violent drunk and targets me. So he isn't allowed to drink anything other than wine or beer at my wedding.
