Good morning all & Happy Thursday!! So last night FH & I were looking thru the shutterfly book we got for our engagement dinner and all the pics from the beginning of our relationship till now, and this made me think of todays QOTD..
Where did you and your FH go on your first date and what details about that date do you remember?
I'm pretty good with remembering the little things, our first date was at a café in Astoria..he picked me up and it was a little awkward at first because it was the first time being alone since the week before is when I met him at a bar in the city thru a mutual friend. But conversation got flowing real quick, I remember he was fasting for Easter, so I ordered a fruit salad since that was the only thing on the menu that he was able to have, and he appreciated that. After that it went from seeing each other once a week, then all his days off and then sleeping over each others houses & then moving in together, and the rest is history!

I was 18 and he was 19! He picked me up at my parents house -- my mom thought he was much older than me lol -- and took me into Forest Hills to a restaurant called Portofino -- there was an accordian player and singer there who came to our table singing a love song (it was sooo awkward) lol. We both ordered the same dish (Chicken Valdostana) and I ate all of mine, and he didn't finish! He made a comment about how I ate more than him and that we was impressed. lol. Afterwards we took a walk around the neighborhood and got Italian ices and sat on the steps of a church and talked. Wow, this seems so long ago and we were babies. We haven't been to the restaurant since but it would be nice to go back!

I'm 99% sure our first date was to see the first Taken movie at Roosevelt Field. I wore jeans, black converses, and a black hoodie. He wore the same thing with different sneakers. There was absolutely no one in the movie theater except us and a large Indian family that took up about 2 rows, and that was it. We did that whole inch by inch to holding hands thing. We had our first awkward kiss when he dropped me off. I went to get out of the car, then just got back in and kissed him, then got out.
We were so comfortable together from the beginning, it was like we knew everything and nothing about each other. Our first real, big date was to the city about a month after. (I wasn't a big foodie at the time and didn't eat in restaurants when we first started dating) We went to the city on St. Patrick's Day and went shopping, bought some art, and went to the top of the Empire State Building. We became 'official' that day. It was cute :) & I bought the touristy picture they take infront of the Empire backdrop, so I'll never forget that day.

Our first official date was at Starbucks..we met online so that was supposed to be the safe, make sure we are real people, meeting zone..even though we had talked on the phone/online for weeks up to this point. Well the Starbucks date was on a Thursday. But FH just couldn't wait and ended up coming to my job with Coffee on a Tuesday because he just 'had' to see me. lol We talked for a while but it was awkward since I was at work. Fast forward to that Thursday, he sent me flowers at work, then we had our 'official' Starbucks date, drove down to the beach and watched the waves/sunset, and just talked for hours! After that I think it was a sealed deal and I was smitten lol. Hey how do I say no to a man that brings me coffee and flowers?!?! lol

We went to this Ramen place in St Marks for our first. I remember being nervous, but as soon as I saw him and we started chatting as we waited to be seated, my nerves calmed down. After dinner, we walked around the area, then he walked me home. We talked non-stop and had a great evening. I forgot what I was wearing tho! I was disappointed he didn't give me a kiss on our first date. I had to wait for the second date for that..lol

He knew the owner of Blood Manor in NYC, that haunted mansion that people go to around Halloween time. We went on Halloween in costumes with two other couples and saw that the line was a 3 hour wait. Thank god he knew the owner, because we were able to cut to the front of the line and it was so much fun!!

FH and I met at a wedding.... we had an amazing night together and I could go on and on about details from that night, but I don't consider that our first date. Our first date was 3 days later! He wore a navy blue button down and I wore one of my favorite purple tops. I remembered to wear heels bc he was tall and I wanted to be at perfect kissing height! haha
He drove 2 1/2 hours down from his house in CT for our date and when he got to my house I offered to drive us to the restaurant since he didn't know the area. We went to Press 195 in RVC and the funniest part of the night was that once we sat down at our booth he realized that he had left his wallet in his car... which was back at my house! He had taken it out of his back pocket bc it was uncomfortable for the 2+ hour drive... I didn't care bc I could tell he was legitimate. Needless to say it is STILL something we joke about to this day!
At the end of the date we went back to my apartment and made out like teenagers haha then he drove all the way back home around midnight!! We had to wait a week and a half before our next date since we lived so far apart, but we skyped every single night until then. Needless to say, the rest is history!

FH took me to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. I remember on our way, I looked over at him in the car and for some reason it REALLY hit me how cute he was and how much I liked him! He also told me later in our relationship that he went shopping that day for a new pair of shoes to wear for our date and did a test drive to my house so he wouldn't be late picking me up!
After dinner, we were going to go bowling, but it was League Night or something at the alley we went to, so then we were going to go to the Starbucks in my town but when we drove by, it had closed for good (Williston Park must be the only town that couldn't keep a Starbucks open back in 2004). So we went to another nearby Starbucks and chatted over coffee. He dropped me off at 10pm but didn't kiss me goodnight because he knew I wanted to take things slowly at the time.
I had a great time and couldn't stop thinking about him!

Our first date was in 2007. We both lived in Pittsburgh at the time (going to school). We went ice skating in downtown Pittsburgh and then out to dinner to a steakhouse afterwards. I remember being nervous I was gonna make a fool out of myself trying to ice skate haha. Luckily I didn't fall!

FH took me to Barrique in Babylon Village for a Sunday brunch. He works overnights so after working a 16 hour shift he got home at 10am showered and picked me up at my house at 12. We had mimosas and shared a salad and pizza. Then we went to the Dix Hills outlets and saw a scary movie which he jumped the whole time- it was adorable. He then drove me home and we made plans to hang out again! What I thought was soooooo weird was that he didn't kiss me at the end of the date! After we got more comfortable with each other we talked about our first date and he said he was just trying to be respectful. I absolutely adore him

Michael & I went to an Islanders Game for our first real date back in January 2008. My idea. Shocker We went to runyons on Hempstead tpke got some apps & had a few beers then headed off to the coliseum. I *think* we may have gone back to his friends house after to watch a UFC fight. I can't really remember.

Our first date was at Charlie Brown Steakhouse followed by a movie. He took me to see The Last Exorcism and besides loving being with him after talking for so long, the most memorable part was that the movie was HORRIBLE! I still tease him about it.

We were working together out in the hamptons at a private golf club and our small staff often worked 16 hour days going late into the night. We liked to all try and get together after work, and I was new so he invited me to meet up with some of the coworkers at a small bar after. EVERYONE BAILED! :) trying to get us alone (which I didn't realize at the time) and I was so set on that drink after those 16 hours and we went together anyway and had a nice few drinks and talked and we dated ever since!

Our first date was at starbucks! We had been chatting online for a couple of weeks and decided to meet in person. It felt like we had known each other for years, we were laughing and talking for hours until I had to go to work. I didn't want to leave! We talked on the phone all night long and got together again two days later on Valentines day for our second date

Fh and I first date was a movie. He actually wanted it to be dinner and a movie but I ate before he picked me up cause he never mentioned dinner lol. So he was starving so he ordered something we could share I just picked at it but we had great conversation and I was just completely smittened. We saw puss in boots because it was my favorite story as a kid. He let me pick the movie so he was a winner right there. I kissed him before getting out of the car. We have been together ever since.
