I would like to thank MsErikaLynn for making me the new BOTW. My first question of the week:


Apart from your special dances, are there any “must-have” songs that you and FH would love to hear the DJ play at your reception? Which song would make the top of your “don’t even think about it” list for the DJ?


I love Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl”. And I know FH would definitely bust out his dance moves to Jamiroquai’s “Dynamite”.
We would absolutely hate to hear the “Macarena” or worse, the “Chicken Dance” played at our wedding lol.

We have a whole list going of must play songs. We have a lot of songs we love.
No line dances are allowed at my wedding at all. Its not a sweet 16 so to me its not acceptable.

We are doing a special 'break out down' after our first dance to the Wobble.. lol Its very funny we saw it on our cruise and had so much fun doing it

We definitely want to hear the fast salsa version of our wedding song, and also a bunch of beyonce and shakira.

Do not play list is any group dance with the ONE exception of the Cuban shuffle because it's my guilty pleasure song haha. I also don't want to hear any 80s rock really, I know it's popular for weddings and me and FH love it but I want our day to have a different feel.

One of the songs on my 'must play' list is Depeche Mode's 'Just Can't Get Enough.' One of FH's pics is The Cure's 'Love Cats,' but I'm not sure if we'll have it played during the reception or as the recessional after the ceremony.

I don't think we are doing any group dances, but I might allow 'YMCA' to be played because my Mom loves that song lol.

the cha cha slide, macarena, chicken dance, all of those songs are NOT allowed to be played lol. We don't really have any must haves besides our entrance, first dance, father/daughter, etc dances

We would love to get some Country squeezed into the wedding but haven't quite figured out which songs yet, since we know its not everyone's cup of tea. We are banning all Line/Organized dances except Cupid shuffle since it has been played at all my friends weddings and how has become a tradition of sorts lol.

7 years ago today I met FH! nuts.

Anyway I have a few must-have Italian songs for the Italian crowd (appx. 50% of the wedding)... Vivo Per Lei, Ti Amo, L'Emozione non ha voce. The no-play list includes Gangham style lol. I did not give the DJ for our engagement party a do-not-play list and he played this. I immediately regretted not giving him a list!

OMG my mom and FH's grandma both love YMCA, but I'm not sure if I'm going to allow it to be played yet lol.

We have a bunch of songs we would like to be played. Just as many of you have already said, all of those group-dance songs (Macarena, Electric Slide, Cha Cha Slide, Chicken Dance, etc etc.) are NOT allowed to be played lol!

Same here! Probably towards the end of the night, so that my high school besties and I can relive the glory days lol

We have a running list of songs that need to be played at the wedding. We also don't want any traditional line dancing like the chicken dance, electric slide, Macarena, stuff like that.

We have a million and one songs that we NEED to be played.
NO LINE DANCES!! And no 'cliche' songs like We Are Family or Night Fever. These seem to be played at EVERY family party and I hate them.

Only song that I definitely know will not be played at the wedding in Gangnam Style. I like the song but I can't stand Psy and how he talked about us Americans so Nope he will not be allowed at all. M nephews were upset cause they really like it but I told them don't worry by the time the wedding is here someone else will have another one hit wonder that you will like and we will play it for you.

I don't think there will be a big do not play list. FH and I love music in general so we kinda like a little bit of everything. I will say the Chicken Dance might be the one thing on a do not play list for us.

As for songs that will definitely be played at our wedding? I think the Colbie Caillat and Jason Mraz song - Lucky will probably need to be played, and some of our first 'couple' songs like Blind Melon - No Rain and a few others. Also I'm sure I'll make sure the DJ plays a few N'Sync or Spice Girls songs, because my friends and I go nuts over them. LOL

We are for sure having the Macarena!! My sister and I are AWESOME at it!! BAHAHAHHA.

The do not play list has SHOUT on it, I'm not sure WHY but I do not like that song!!!
