Today and until Friday I am coming to you from my vacation on Fire Island I looooove it here! FH spent the day with me yesterday and left this morning so now I am all alone with the beautiful beach and laid backness
And now onto today's Q: I was daydreaming about the wedding day and how everything will come together and how we will act, and what will people do and say and I kept coming back to the things that I am super excited about: family/cultural traditions. I honestly can't wait for some of them, I get butterflies just thinking about actually getting to do them.
What are your culture's traditions you are very excited to do for your wedding?
As some of you know I am a mix of different cultures, I am a Russian Israeli, so the fun part that I can do different things from each culture. What excites me the most from my Jewish culture is the breaking of the glass - sooo can't wait! That marks that me and FH are no longer engaged, and from now on we are officially husband and wife. Plus that's when all the celebrating starts and everybody comes up to congratulate you, this huge mass of your loved ones are hugging and kissing you. From my Russian tradition I can't wait for when everyone yells 'Gorka!!!! Gorka!!!' at the reception. The word means bitter in Russian, and I don't know why but this is when the newlyweds MUST kiss. That is soooo much fun! At any moment people can start yelling that at you and you immediately MUST kiss
These two are the ones I can't wait for the most, what are yours?

Good question! I was actually looking this up last week
hmm... Well I am Italian so many of the traditions have just become part of every wedding today.
My FH on the other hand is Portugese and some of their traditions are off the wall!!!
For instance: (and this is NOT happening) The bride walks around acting like a COW until her new owner (FH) comes to claim her. My friends threaten me they are going to give me a cow bell to wear
Another is where the bride passes her shoe around and people stuff money in it. Now I don't know how people will feel about stuffing money in my funky shoe but hey if they want to who am I to stop them
OMG!!!! LMFAO!!!!!!!!! I lol'ed loud at work. sorry but that is hilarious. so why again wont you be doing the cow thing? youll look super hot im sure!

Im not that excited about any traditions from my culture or his, to be honest, there wont be too many. Just mainly the americanized traditions. I am really excited about the first time FH sees me since we will be following the tradition of him not seeing before hand. Other than that, well do the hora most likely and I guess that will be fun, lol.

I am jewish and FH is hard core italian. We are having an interfaith wedding ceremony and I am so excited about picking different elements from both cultures to include. I am excited for the hebew prayers, no idea why, but I love randomly reading Hebrew and FH is super excited to break the glass and wants to yell 'L'chiem' which means 'to life' (even though everyone is supposed to yell Mozel Tov, he doesn't care and I am going to embrace it)
I am also excited for the Hora and then we are going to follow it with the Tarentella (which I do not know how to do and despretely need to learn)
