Ah, it's not Monday anymore...that's always a good thing! And it's lucky 7/7 too...for anyone who's lucky number is 7, play the lotto today, and if you strike it rich, remember who told you to play!
The other night I was on the phone with my mom and she said that she was surprised that FH and I booked a typical reception hall. Initially, when we were searching for venues, we didn't look at typical halls either. This leads me to my question o' the day:
Is there anything that you've planned (or are planning) for your wedding that you're surprised you wanted? Like, not just want...but NEED to have?
As I said, FH and I were looking into different kinds of venues. We never pictured having our big day at a hall, and were looking into raw spaces, historical buildings available for rent, a couple of clubs in the city, farms, lofts, etc. However, our guest list was growing, which knocked some of these places out of the running due to their capacity level. And then we realized that with all of these places, we'd have to not just hire an outside caterer (we were cool with that), but also rent all the linens, tables, chairs, flatware, plates, etc.! Which also meant that we'd probably have to hire a DOC to coordinate it all and make it run smoothly. It took us awhile to give up the idea of having it in a funky spot, but we're thrilled with our choice in the Swan Club and don't have to worry about whether the chairs are going to show up or if the caterer might forget some key ingredients. I'm pleasantly surprised that this is where we ended up - we're so unconventional with so many things...a lot of friends were like 'wow, you're still being weird by booking at a reception hall!' LOL!

So far, not really. Although I did expect to end up at a more mansion type place than a catering hall. I guess NRC is kind of a combination of the two, but I couldn't be happier.
However, with FH......I'm still surprised (and confused) about his stupid Incredible Hulk ice sculpture request.......He keeps telling EVERYONE about it.....now we really HAVE to have it!

Everytime I hear about the Hulk ice sculpture I That's freakin' awesome.
If it makes you feel any better, my FH wants a replica of the white tux Eric Clapton wore to one of his weddings in the '70's. I'd take the ice sculpture over that any day!

I dont think I surprised myself with anything excvept the HM...Ive for the most part kept my vision of my wedding and of course added in some stuff but not anything out of the ordinary from my 'vision'. The only thing that I didnt realize I would 'NEED' to have is the HM to Italy. I always said, you know its called a honeymoon but this doesnt mean its our last vacation ever so if we just go on something nice but not our dream, it's ok...well go again. But now its like, I need to do Italy, its both of our dreams. Now Ive totally switched and said its a once in a lifetime thing and well always have excuses why we cant do Europe plus once kids are in the picture it really isnt as enjoyable to do Europe, Im sure.

the video and wanting a DOC. I never EVER wanted a video of my wedding. But now I am getting one because I never thought of people who will be there that wont be as morib as it sounds not here much longer.
I want a DOC because I dont want to know a darn thing the day of I just want to get dressed up and be pretty and let someone else take care of the bs.

Not yet...I haven't planned enough yet. Although I never envisioned FH wanting a goat to give my dad as a dowry.

not really! Originally we thought that we wanted to have our reception at a place on the water, but when looking we did not find anything that Wowed us like Willow Creek did!

I orginally said no surprise shower! I dislike surprises usually, but im so swamped that I would rather stay out of it. I also thought I wanted a shower at my mom or my aunts house, but going to so many at resturants recently I decided I would rather have that... so I informed my mom and cousin and left it at that.

Having a DOC, i'm usually a control freak and like being the one in control of situations, but for the wedding day, I want someone has to have to worry about it so thats why I had to have a DOC

Everything I wanted for our wedding I had all planned out so I guess not really. I would say the HM I would never think I would travel more then a few hours on a plane. Tahiti was not something planned but now I must have it.

Our honeymoon choice surprised me a little bit. I always pictured us lying on a tropical beach and doing water activities, etc. But our hall offers us the free trip to Greece and we both feel that we would regret passing up on this opportunity if we didn't take it.

hmm maybe our RH I always wanted a big mansion but are ended up at a golf course. And maybe my flowers I personally don't love flowers but my dad is a florist and FH a wholesale florist so we are going ALL out when it comes to flowers!

Re: ~*~*~QOTD 7/7~*~*~
I don't know if there was one specific thing that I couldn't live without! I've made the entire wedding mostly about him since the NY reception is really for his family and friends BUT I think my now must have is the honeymoon! We always knew that we'd have to wait until next summer (probably August) to take a honeymoon, eleven whole months. We talked about taking a 12 night European cruise because it's the first Euro itinerary we looked at. Then we realized that was for this year and for the same price we could go nuts and take an 18 or 24 day world cruise and how outlandish and insane and spectacular would that be?! So while I have a while to plan the honeymoon, a big, long European Cruise is my must have regardless of length of time.
