*~*~* QOTD 8/1 *~*~*

Morning ladies!

I cannot believe the summer is half way over. As much as that means I will be back to teaching in a few weeks, I am excited because all our weddings are that much closer. So often we get caught in planning and the future. I am a firm believer in visiting and reflecting on the past and the path that has brought you to where you are now.

I want you to think about where you were in your lide 5-10 years ago. Back then did you think you would be where you are now? You can relate this to you relationship, work etc.


Five years ago, I was engaged to someone else. Planning a wedding to someone that did not want to get married. I thought I was in love I thought at this point in my life I would be married and pregant or with a child. Obviously that all changed. The girl I was then is not he woman I am now. The love I feel now is so much stronger and real than that love ever was. i count my blessings every day. My life trasnformed more so personally that professionally.

5 years ago - I was thinking that I wanted to get married at 30 and here I am getting married when I am 30(next may i'll be the BIG 3-0 yikes)!

5 years ago I had just re-met my fh and we were just having fun dating!

10 years ago I was 19 and in college parting like a rock star dating some rich loser that cheated on me a # of times. . . . . oh to be young.

Same here! 5 years ago I was engaged to someone else planning a wedding at JT. I had knots in my stomach the entire time because I wanted to call it off but was afraid to have everyone lose so much money... so I thought I would just go through with it... 9 months prior I called it off... my parents, his family and the both of us lost a bunch of money but it was so worth it. I am not the person I was 5 years ago... and forget 10 years ago. At 19 I had no idea about where I wanted to be in life. I think about the guys I dated back then and I couldn't (don't want to!) imagine what my life would be like if I had married any one of them.

So many other things are different, who some of my friends are, where I wanted my career to be... even the relationship between me and certain members of my family.

I was always so afriad of getting married later and having to wait to have kids but I am SO glad I did now. I will be the big 3-0 when I get married but I know that I have had time to mature into the person I want to be. For me, it has been worth the wait.

5 yrs ago I was a big PARTY GIRL & was 'In love with the love of my life' (haha). Didnt care too much abt getting married or actually do anything productive

Now I am engaged (not to who I thought was the 'love of my life either' ), have a job that most ppl my age are wishing they could get (just for the benefits), and I cant honestly remember the last party I went to...I guess 5yrs can def mature a person

I was crying myself to sleep over this one guy..oh god..that summer was all about the drama...drinking too much because I was 21 and I guess using and abusing that license to drink. I really thought that I was marrying that other guy..I just needed someone to slap me in the face and do a Cher 'snap out of it' on me.
I was still in college..it was the year that I was set to graduate but I was way behind..
so basically what I am saying is that I had no idea that on this August 1, 2009 I would be in contract to buy a house with my great fiance and that I could care less about the other guy. 5 years gives you time to grow.

5-10 years ago. Geez.

10 years ago I was going into my Sr. Yr of HS and getting married was the LAAST thing on my mind. I didn't really start dating till college. I didn't care about it that much lol.

5 years ago I was with my ex. Blah lol

10 years ago....umm I was 14 so I was probably still playing with my barbie dolls

5 years ago I was already dating the love of my life for 2 years!!! We were attending my HS prom and graduation as FH graduated 2 years before me. We were just being young and having fun!!!!!!!

Wow 10 yrs ago i was still in HS, hanging with my girls and partying all the time, going boy crazy lol and not at all thinkin about marriage

5yrs ago i had just started dating my now (FH) and now we have two kids and are getting married next yr .I love my family

5 years ago- in college. with a guy that treated me like crap. actually thought he was the one. eww

10 years ago- just starting H.S (14) and hated my life. i was super shy and thought i'd never have friends, let alone a bf.

10 years ago (1999) I was 7 months into THE. WORST. RELATIONSHIP. EVER. I loved him... he thought he loved me, was manipulative and abusive... cheated on me from the beginning, etc. I was in love with the idea of being in love.

5 years ago (2004) WORST. RELATIONSHIP. EVER. was over (I'm a slow learner) about a month, and I was crying and lonely and just fcuking miserable to be around. I was so upset that the relationship (i.e., I) failed at something.

It's my only regret in life, and I look at where I am now... so happy... and only hope that karma bites him in the as* and he dies a miserable old man.

5 years ago I had just met FH and I had just thought that we would hang out a few times and it would never be anything serious, boy I was wrong look at us now

I never thought about getting married, to me it wasn't something that I had to do or something that I ever really focused on

10 years ago I can't even remember anything significant that happened in my life! I was in middle school..
5 years ago I was finishing up high school. This is when I actually had my time to find out who I was... I was an early bloomer lol. When I was this age I purposely didn't date anyone because I needed time to be by myself for once and figure out who I was and what I wanted. In this year and the year after I really discovered myself and found the confidence and strength I needed to proceed with life.

5 years ago: I had just graduated and moved home from college and FH and I were so happy because I would finally be home full time. We spent the first four years of our relationship with me in Boston. I was working as a customer service rep, and FH was a commercial plumber. We were trying to save up our money so we could move out together.

10 years ago: I was about to go into my senior year of HS and was with my a$$hole of an ex. Finally broke up with him that November and met FH in December.

Five years ago.... I was pining for a guy who didn't want a girlfriend. I was still hung up on the guy who dumped me right after college. AND i was still a virgin!!! Boy I was stupid!!!!!!!!!!!


Life is much better now!!!!!!!!!!!

10 years ago I was 15 and goin crazy in HS with my best friends. Partying, goin out with fake IDs to NYC, marriage was no where on my mind.

5 years ago I was 20 and broke up with a guy who was 7 years older than me. We were together for 3 years and everyone, i mean EVERYONE, thought we would get married when I graduated college, he even said he was going to propose my junior year of college so we could get married when I graduated...kinda freaked me out being that I was only 20. (my parents were actually mad at me for breakin up with him!) Well, I ended up breaking up with him b/c it just wasn't there anymore. Truth is that I was completely falling for my now FH who became my best friend the previous year during our sophomore year together at college. Such is love

5 years ago I moved here, to US. hated it, wanted to go back to Israel. was so so so depressed. got a horrible job and would sit at home after alone. basically life suked! I pretty much cried every night and thought I will never get a bf or my career (this was even more important than bf).

10 yrs ago I was in the army. was having so much fun! one of the coolest times of my life.

5 years ago i graduated from HS and was preparing for college. didn't know what i wanted to do in life (career wise). I was already with my fh for about a year. ;) i have to say i had a lot more energy - used to go clubbing and out all the time. now, i feel like i'm a party pooper. =)

10 years ago haaha very early teen years ...so i was running around and having fun with friends.

5 years ago i was 16 and had just started talking to FH. i had no idea that he would be the one i was going to spend the rest of my life with.

10 years ago i was 11 years old. too young to even recall what was going on at that time.
