*~*~* QOTD 8/1 *~*~*

Original post by Ivansgirl

Morning ladies!

I cannot believe the summer is half way over. As much as that means I will be back to teaching in a few weeks, I am excited because all our weddings are that much closer. So often we get caught in planning and the future. I am a firm believer in visiting and reflecting on the past and the path that has brought you to where you are now.

I want you to think about where you were in your lide 5-10 years ago. Back then did you think you would be where you are now? You can relate this to you relationship, work etc.

Five years ago, I was engaged to someone else. Planning a wedding to someone that did not want to get married. I thought I was in love I thought at this point in my life I would be married and pregant or with a child. Obviously that all changed. The girl I was then is not he woman I am now. The love I feel now is so much stronger and real than that love ever was. i count my blessings every day. My life trasnformed more so personally that professionally.

I didn't realize how much younger some of you are than me. It is just nice to go back and reflect and be thankful for where you are now.

5 years ago FH and I were starting to get closer and become good friends... but I was a mess. I was completely out of control and was into partying so much more than schoolwork. I was also in the process of leaving an abusive relationship. I had a horrible relationship with my parents, and it was probably the lowest point of my life. Now it's the complete opposite and things couldn't be better... It's weird how so much can change in just a few years.

10 years ago I was starting my junior year of college and being pretty reckless and ridiculous.

5 years ago, I was just about to start law school... wow i can't belive it was that long ago! Had just moved into my first apartment by myself. FH and I had already been together 2 years and were very much still learning who we were (individually).

5 years ago I was engaged to be married to a guy who was not what I needed or wanted. I am so lucky (it took 3 engagement breakups to realize) that I ended that relationship.

10 years ago I was in my second year of college. I was very different than I am now. Its amazing to look back at pictures and remember how I have grown into a women.

5 years ago I was 18....wow. I had had a really unproductive and unsuccessful love life, and I was going through that weird 'rebellious' phase of life, and my goals were primarily based around that. I had just graduated high school, barely ever worked (I was slightly spoiled I think lol), and was a bit too cliquey. I've grown up SO MUCH in those 5 years, and I am so happy with who I've become.

ETA: 10 years ago I was 13, and I was a very typical 13 year old lolol... I was a few months away from having my first 'real' bf, and that is about it.
