QOTD--8/12/08

Original post by Aristotelina

Happy Tuesday Ladies!!

Here is the QOTD (inspired by Utterhappiness and I's conversation):

Are you going to splurge on YOURSELF for your wedding? Are you planning on buying yourself real/expensive jewels, designer shoes and expensive lingerie or are you planning on sticking to a budget?

I definitely wanted to stick to a budget, although now that I've been shopping around, I can't help but be lured by the more expensive items and justifying the purchase in my head by saying 'it only happens once...'

i love this question!

Honestly, for me i splurge whenever i want to. I figure if i love it & i cant find it cheaper & i can afford it then why not get it. I dont have to justify it. Its how i am. I want it i get it. Period! I work hard & so does FH. Thank fully we are blessed to own homes already. So if we or me or him fall in love with something then why not if its not hurting anyone else i dont see why it should be a problem. GO FOR IT!

First- Penny, Thanks for the shout out!! xoxo

Now Vicki, I agree and I am the same way! I mean with the wedding I am trying to hold back a little and not shop EVERY time I feel the urge BUT hey, it happens!

I have had that feeling that, its our big day and this will only happen once in a lifetime soooo misewell go for it!

As you know, I got the Manolo shoes that I wanted! Also I feel lke my dress was an unexpected splurge- I had no idea that my mom would go for it, but thanksful she did!! Im sure that there will be splurges along the way!!
As far as jewelry, I think I am renting it from Adore bridal jewlery rental...thats all I can think of right now

Honestly, it's totally in my nature to splurge and spoil myself in normal life. So one would assume that on my wedding day, it would be all Manolos and more...But as we get deeper into this wedding, and planning our future, the financial strains really start to become apparent. Maybe part of it is growing up and facing financial realities...That I can't just charge shiit and deal with it later. So I guess I don't know yet! I would really like a pair of Manolos for my wedding. I really want a color shoe though, so if they don't come out with a good grassy green color, I won't be-a-splurgin'!! (I personally would never dye a Manolo Blahnik shoe).

*Edited to fix spelling!*

I really wasnt planning on splurging. I wanted to stay on budget but I know once I find something I love I'll end up getting it. I dont know if I would get teh shoes since they are going to be hidden by my dress....I would love to get the expensive lingerie but FH wouldnt know the difference so I might go for the jewlery...Who knows

I would totally agree with you. Never charge it. Only splurge if you can without going into debt. And OMG who would dye a Manolo that makes me sad lol

Designer shoes - probably Stuart Weitzman now that I found the greatest red shoes ever. I'm actually splurging on my own Bachelorette party - we are going to Vegas and I want to gamble and shop!

i wish i could splurge but i just don't have the money. Between student loans, bills, trying to save for a place to live...it's just very tight. I'd rather splurge on a car than a pair of shoes ( altho i'd LOVE a pair of manolos) My wedding jewelry WAS expensive ( 475 for the necklace and 275 for the earrings) but my grandma bought them for me AND got them for like 60% off so it only came out to like 215 for both

Re: QOTD--8/12/08

Well. I plan to buy myself a pricey diamond bracelet this December so that is a splurge. I have been eyeing it for a while and why not have it on my wedding day. I probably would have eventually gotten it wedding or no wedding. I actually planned to get it in September but am getting FH a Cartier watch for his 30th bday and throwing a party so spending for all 3 at once, although I could, would probably just dissappoint me. I love him and he has been so great to me through my health issues this summer. I want to spoil him first and then maybe I get my bracelet in December after I collect my bonus.

I am defeinetely a shopper. I buy things I really want but I defeinetely haven't ceen a losse with my sepdnidng since getting enagaged. After all - our wedding is incredibly pricey so something has to give.

Im not splurging on myself. I love the earrings I got, great price and hope ti find a great bracelet for cheap also. Shoes and others will be inexpensive also. Im in such a tight budget that Im wearing these things once and see no point. I nedd the money elsewhere. My splurge will be the wedding but, seriously the HM since I havent been on vaca in over 10 yrs

I guess I'll have to see what I end up liking. I will try not to go crazy though.
